We lost 3-0 to Accies in the November of the Tommy Craig year, too. The absolute state of our team that day, though. Marwood Ball Reilly I can't even remember who Brown was. As you say, our current squad is better by some distance. Only Mallan and McLean would get in our 2020 side: We'll be fine, as long as we haven't done a Jack Hamilton and dropped the ball with our tax affairs.

Fucking hell, what a couple of days to be a Saints fan. I'm very surprised at the game forfeiting as I felt that would be a step too far, but if we have breached, and it seems we have, then there was probably no other way around it. Absolute scenes if we have failed to pay tax, too. Assuming we don't get hit with any mad points deduction, I think this could actually help our form for the rest of this season, if Jim manages to position us as being embattled, gets a proper us vs the world mentality going on. It's what Ferguson or Mourinho would do, no doubt.

Don't expect anything too taxing on Saturday, tbh. -

Fair. Was on the fence about the CH thing. In all honesty, I'd say we have to call Foley a defender first now. There are three better options than him in the middle of the park. -
Given that we have raised the issue to the authorities ourselves and are investigating, it looks like it may be either an individual or a supplier. If it's not playing/management staff then the sums involved should be relatively minor. It also says we do this annually, so hopefully it won't be a long-standing issue.

If we beat Aberdeen playing with a four, and then in the very next game against the same opposition the tombola spits out a back 3/5, I'll be raging! I agree with everything you've said, though. Shaugnessy in, Erhahon in, Cammy and Foley out, the rest the same. -
Rate the Managers

I started to post this as a joke post before realising I'm 100% serious: I think 11th is too high for Rice. It's safe to assume whoever Livi bring in will be better. Rice is a worse manager than the placeholder. -

Are we beating Aberdeen in back-to-back games? No. No we are not. But I fancy nicking a point here. There's no chance we're keeping a clean sheet, so I hope we'll approach the game in the same we did on Saturday. That said, there were brief spells on Saturday when Aberdeen still showed what they are about. Like in the game at Pittodrie when they were chasing an equaliser then the winner, they can move the ball around the box and stretch defences very well, IMO. Entertaining 2-2, I reckon. Obika and Shaugnessy; McGinn and Ferguson. -
I owned the bib back in the day... would have been a decent top were it not for the white panel. The stripes are wider than on the JD abomination, which was just so fussy and over-designed. I always picture those promo pics with Greg Wylde. Yeah, the voting is a step in the right direction. Morton don't do much right as a club, but I always thought the voting was a very fan-friendly move. I really think it should become an annual thing.

I think clubs are fairly unlikely to pay attention even allowing for the fact that, in this case, you were largely correct. I know of a Saints fan who tried to tell Gus MacPherson about a young Andy Carroll, who was available for loan from Newcastle. Gus shrugged him off; didn't want to know at all. Gary McAllister used to get very arsey in the press room at Coventry if we questioned his decisions. "What would you know, you've not played the game at the highest level..." kinda thing. This is probably similar.

St Mirren vs Aberdeen 28/11

Immeasurable improvement last night vs our collective bed-shitting last season. Goes without saying that if we continue to play like that then we'll be absolutely nowhere near relegation this season. That team shape, the attacking selections and mentality has to be the standard from now, too, even if the line-up is tweaked. Credit to the Dons fans for being classy in defeat, too. We've obviously had our selection issues this season too; Dons will be fine when their players are back. Suspect this will be McInnes' last season, though. -

Is that McGrath's first goal for us? Hope it gives him a bit more confidence. Definitely needs to add goals to his game. -

Aberdeen had a decent spell on top for a while there and I thought it was going to be a carbon copy of the league game. Then my dodgy stream cut out and I missed the goal. Serves me right for being a tightarse. Still, this is going to sound diddy as f**k, but I'm actually more pleased with our performance than with the result. We finally look like a team, have a recognizable shape, and showed genuine attacking intent. My knickers are drying on the radiator. There are some beatable teams in the next round: I hope we get a decent draw.
