  1. Obika was measurably better than Erwin when he came on. He can trap a ball, for one. Hibs the better side, 1-0 a fair score. We weren't on it at all tonight and just kept giving the ball away. Perhaps this was down to Hibs applying lots of pressure, but it was painful to watch sometimes. Ah well.
  2. Same. I was beginning to mount a 'Lee Erwin might be awright' campaign but he's been gash tonight. Just so maddening. Mason hasn't offered much either. He very much looks like a full back being asked to play on the wing. It worked against Rangers as he had a defensive role but he's neither neutralised McGinn nor attacked much. Connolly been quiet too, to be fair, and we resorted to a bit of hit and hope towards the end of the half. Second edit: aiming balls straight at Connolly is no good. You need to get your main striker providing flick-ons for Dylan to chase the second balls. Straight long balls are too easy to read and he's got no chance. I could quite easily swap the whole front three for Durmus, Obika and Morias. Edit: maybe McAllister, not Morias.
  3. It was the earliest challenge I've ever seen. But yeah, never a penalty.
  4. Walked in the house and was handed a baby and a bottle. Thought I might as well
  5. FFS. Great goal. We've been decent but you can just tell Hibs' cutting edge is way better than ours. Shaughnessy's distribution gives me the fear, too.
  6. There was also that time you let Stelios score twice against you in a 2-0 earlier that season. It was very good of you. Edit: Here's how the table stood at the end of that game. Utterly nuts how far we've come since then. Credit to @Dunning1874 for his fantastic 'sliding doors' post that highlighted the different paths us and Raith have been on since Hughes turned down our manager job earlier that season.
  7. I can't see it. I think he'll bide his time at Hibs until the Scotland job comes up. It's always been his stated aim.
  8. I love that he was making big doe eyes at any club that'd have him in early 2018, left us in the lurch and did no squad prep for the 18-19 season (P. McGinn aside), poached Craig Samson, Paul McGinn and Kyle Magennis... but it's the kit man departure that seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back
  9. I was meant to be wrapping presents. Made decent progress during the first half, but productivity absolutely plummeted when we went to 1-1.
  10. That's the danger! The stream I was watching for the Rangers game last week had a delay of a couple of minutes, and I couldn't even cope with that. Obviously glad I didn't deny myself the joy of that winner, but I very nearly just looked.
  11. 6pm is such a weird kick-off time. I'm at work all day and basically usually get an hour and a half with the kids before their bedtime, so I've got zero chance of seeing this, sadly. Have just clocked that it's on Alba later on... Not a fan of watching games after the fact (knowing the result is 'out there' kills me), but might give it a go tonight.
  12. I nearly added that to my post, actually: Jim seems very reluctant to use youth at CH, so I could see us signing an old scrapper/journeyman. I'd certainly say a back-up CH is more pressing that a new striker.
  13. I think the time to be joking about that has very much stopped.
  14. I really don't think we'll be very active: I'd be happy with longer deals for JDH and a couple of the other guys (per Ric's post on the Saints thread.) Even the striker issue... I'm not sure we're going to do it and I think folk might be disappointed. Let's take Jim at his word when he says Erwin was wiped out by the 'Rona and assume that he's still got more to offer. Despite all the evidence, I still think Dennis might contribute before the end of the season - and they're still just our 2nd and third-choice strikers.
  15. Just watched that a few times there. I like the way Conor McCarthy makes the exact same unmarked run towards the keeper's left-hand post as he did for the winner against Rangers. You'd think St Johnstone might have looked at that.
  16. Just hope you deal with crosses better than the Fakes' defence.
  17. Badgering someone for personal details and PMs on an open forum is the best way to prove that that person is scrambling for relevance, IMHO.
  18. If that happens, we're having a third-place playoff, at the same time, on the BBC.
  19. The earlier game this season was a tad closer than the score suggested. We had no goalkeepers, a Jambo in goal, were denied a stonewall penalty and the third goal was a handball. I'm not saying we'll win this, and will will be happy if we at least lay a glove on them this time, but I think we can snatch a point. 1-1. Is Magennis likely to start for Hibs, can anyone confirm? Will be interesting to see how he matches up against JDH and, for that matter, Erhahon. St Johnstone to beat Hibs is a huge shout but fair play son.
  20. I always forget to do this so have made a special effort. Like an episode of Bakeoff, I'm judging people based on their contributions this year, and not before. I sometimes struggle for 'worst' posters as I tend to just tune the idiots out a bit. Also, I think the events of this year have softened everyone a bit. People all seem to be behaving relatively reasonably. It's a bit weird. Lifetime Worst Poster Achievement Award: @8GamesToGo - offered some quite incredible point-and-laugh material during the first lockdown. Like a whack-a-mole, keeps popping up only to be laughed out the room again. His team may only be Championship level, but his idiocy is top-flight. Aberdeen: Decent set of posters now Standfree seems to have stopped dragging their average down. Best: I'm going to go with @Dons_1988, though @Jacksgrandacame a close second. Worst: N/A Celtic: Best: Meh. Worst: @Romeo Dundee United: Best: @Szamo's_Ammo - witty guy, decent contributions, 8/10, would read again. Worst: @Granny Danger - bless him. He manages to survive three years in the championship, and he's got both Covid and the winter months to contend with. I hope he's ok. Hamilton Accies: Best: @accies1874 Worst: @Scotty Tunbridge is actually alright but then nominated himself as best Accies poster which is bizarre behaviour. Hibernian: Setting my St Mirren-related bias aside, probably the best set of posters on the board. Tough to pick a winner. Generally a great bunch of lads. Best: @HibsFan edges it for being genuinely very funny. @Green Day, @Aim Here and @Henderson to deliver ..... also stand out in a crowded marketplace. Worst: Jack Ross. Killie: Best: @craigkillie Worst: What happened to the boy with the Leonardo di Caprio avatar? Him. I've had a frantic year and can't mind his name. is he even on here any more? Livi: The Livi guys are alright. Best: @EdinburghLivi Worst: @ATLIS - mainly because he wants it. Merry Christmas pal. Motherwell: Best: @capt_oats Worst: None stands out, tbh. Rangers: Best: @G51 seems awright and his new 'crying Kris Boyd' avatar is decent. Worst: @The_Kincardine Ross County: [scene deleted] St Johnstone Generally awful set of posters who seem determined to generate some sort of rivalry with us, hanging out in our threads like that velcro guy in the pub that just latches on to everyone else's conversations. Best: @PauloPerth - good guy, balanced. Most importantly, not a twat. Worst: @RandomGuy. - he's mainly harmless and sometimes seems quite balanced, but is also an utter shitebag and will run and hide before admitting he's wrong. You know what I'm talking about. I wasn't actually going to nominate him, but have done so so I don't have to nominate @tree house tam, who really, really wants this award. St Mirren Ahm no' jus' sayin' this... but we have a way better selection of posters than we're given credit for. Best: I'm nominating @djchapsticks despite fierce competition from a resurgent @Ric. DJC is an entertaining, balanced poster who I would happily sit down for a pint with. @Lex seems to have a bad rep on here for some reason; probably dates back so far that I bet Falkirk were a top-flight side, but he offers good match analyses and is a good guy. Also honourable mentions for @Gareth_Glasgow, @GAD, @sergie's no1 fan, @NorthBank, @Ralstonite, @Arch Stanton... and others that I've inevitably forgotten. I love you all.
  21. He was the only fucking Jonah as far as Coventry were concerned. Spaffed huge amounts on random no-marks, and ended a 40-something year spell in the top flight. They'll almost certainly never return. I never met him: I started covering Coventry about six months after he left, but the other press guys I worked with, to be fair, did all think he was good value. Just a shame he's a terrible manager of football clubs and a regular spouter of complete shite. Edit: just found this on the Guardian from 19 (nineteen!) years ago, which sums up Gordon Strachan quite neatly:
