    Nice post. Re the bit in bold, it was also a return to the top flight following arguably the bleakest period in our club's history. The 90s were properly grim for us. Club-ending takeover narrowly avoided; years of just anonymous shite and second tier mediocrity. It was our first promotion for a couple of decades and felt all the more special as a result.

    I personally don't think that will be a factor. Of you're a current top flight club, then the prospect of being relegated to league two in the current setup is actually more likely, and equally undesirable.

    Nowt wrong with this sponsor, but it was on a huge plastic panel. It was never perfectly flat/smooth. Utterly ridiculous. (Quite liked the shirt aside from that. I was only 12, I think.)

    I think it could work. Maybe throwing in a 3rd/4th play off to add a couple extra fixtures and make the final a one-off at a neutral venue? Potentially 30% of the second tier getting promoted would lessen the fear of the drop, you'd hope.

    I wonder if the administration points deduction rules will be relaxed around this. Or, if they do that, will every club just dive into administration? Or... Will so many clubs go into admin and take the deduction that everyone's basically starting on the same points anyway? Even with the prize money, a lot of clubs are going to be in a perilous state here.
