Alright neebur? that post by Southview was brilliant. Looking forward to seeing just how close it was.
OK, this thread looks like being near dead, see you same time, same place next close season on the Clyde or Stirling albion threads?
Very well thanks, WJR. Are you still down in Basingstoke? If you're back up at the weekend, no doubt I will catch up with you in the Malt & Hops for a beer.
Anyway, all these twists & turns at Livi have left me tired. I will away to bed and dream about the SFL's version of community service, to be handed down to Livi.

Is that not like giving someone a 1000 year jail sentence.
Better to give them a 25 point penalty two seasons in a row.
Stuart
Good point. Your punishment is much better. Also suspend any prize money until all creditors have been paid in full.

Anyone think we will see anything more than a 3 point deduction?
I didn't want to see them fold but at the same time I did want to see a heavy penalty. Relegation to the 3rd with a 30 point penalty next season. Now if they stay in the 1st I would like to see a 50 point penalty imposed.

Today, a room at Hampden Park. 2pm.
SFL: "Hi Mr McGruther. Oh, hello Mr McDougall, Mr Nixon and Mr....Rankine, you're here as well? Oh well, the more the merrier."
Coffee is poured and the hobnobs are passed around. Chit-chat forms around the weather, the big M74 crane and Celtic being beaten in europe.
SFL: "Ok Mr McGruther, can Livingston fulfil their fixtures this season?"
McGruther: "Well, no. The club is hopelessly insolvent and I can't even guarantee getting them through to the weekend. I have already started laying off admin staff. Debts are £1.7m and the owner Angelo Massone has refused to sell his shares for £25k. He has even refused to sell after having the deadline extended."
SFL: "I see. Well as you have said liquidation is the next step, we will have to revoke the club's SFL membership. Too bad."
McGruther: "Well..."
SFL: "Did you say something Mr McGruther?"
McGruther: "Well, how is this for a plan. The three men beside me are going to work together for the good of the club. Mr McDougall and Mr Rankine have agreed to fund the club for a year and in that time will try and persuade Angelo to sell his shares, thus giving them control of the club. If not, we would need the SFL to change the rules regarding the transfer of league membership so that we could wind up Livingston FC plc next summer and transfer membership to Livingston 2010 FC or something like that, dodging those pesky creditors in the process."
SFL: "You aren't suggesting we just pretend Massone doesn't exist and allow the club to continue in its present shambolic state in the hope that the idiot Italian eventually goes home are you?"
McGruther: "Yes. Furthermore, you won't have to worry about inconveniencies such as promoting two clubs at five minutes' notice and running nine-team leagues. And should the rule change take place, your members can run up as much debt as they like knowing there is a tasty wee escape route built into the rulebook."
SFL: "My oh my. What a deal! Never mind what the great unwashed think. Never mind that Livi stayed in the first division last season on false pretences by signing players and "eventually" paying wages they couldn't afford ahead of paying the rent and paying the taxman. Never mind that they virtually brought the game into disrepute. Never mind that you have already been in administration and not learned their lesson. Never mind that they have left small businesses in the county whistling in the dark..."
McGruther: "I like your style."
SFL: "And I like yours. We will baffle everyone with technicalities saying that Livi aren't even in administration or liquidation! You are only here Mr McGruther because, er, well you are a good man, that's why."
Rankine (leaning in, spotty tie captivating a clearly excited Brown McMaster): "Do we have a wee deal here by the way?"
SFL: "You're damn right we do! Brilliant stuff. I'll fetch my bottle of Glenfiddich and we can have a toast. Well done chaps! I thought I would have a tough decision to make today..."
All that can be heard behind closed doors is the sound of laughter and glasses clunking.
Were you taking the minutes Southview? I feel as if I was there.

The largest creditor is apparently Massone. I presume you don't mean him?
In the crazy world of Livi, that is probabaly who they mean!

What I do remember ( and I may be corrected) is that the two main creditors WILL be paid in full.
What about the rest of the creditors?

Massone has an ever extendable deadline to sell his stake in the club. If/when he does, a new company will be started, the league membership will be transferred and Livingston FC Ltd will be wound up with the new team starting in the 3rd division.
If he doesn't sell, they'll be given a 15 point penalty
I'm not long in either, thanks for clearing it up. However, what's is the vote going to be about? Is it changing the rules to something like the English version, and will all the clubs get a vote?
Better still would be for Scottish club football fans to petition UEFA to intervene to give Scottish football the shakedown it so badly needs to ensure a situation like this never happens again. As I've said, this could be a golden opportunity - if fans make themselves heard enough - to get through a lot of long overdue changes up here. Hell mend us if we pass up the moment.
I totally agree with you WTM. Change really is needed in Scottish football from top to bottom. There are too many blazers from the SPL, SFA to the SFL, interested only in themselves and not the good of the game as a whole in this country.
We only need one association and badly need league reconstruction to include a pyramid system and promotion with at least two up and two down from all divisions. How difficult can that be to implement? If the incumbents feel they cannot achieve this, then they should stand aside and let those who can take over.

You could have always, you know, voted against it.
That's an inconvenient truth.

The big bad Premier League and their bully boy tactics!
If only there had been some sort of system of democratic votes to be made on these sorts of crucial issues by the board of directors of individual clubs or something......
Indeed, hell mend the greedy b*****ds that voted for it. A few clubs have suffered, both on and off the park, because of their short-sighted, greed. f**k them.

Dae talk fucking pish, Raith Rovers FC whilst still in the Premier league were told to build our 10,000 plus all seated stadium during the 95/96 season, which we did to comply with that ruling. That alone nearly bankrupted us, so going by your logic we chased that dream, f**k right off. Every aspiring team in the 1st was chasing that dream, but had to comply to the criteria. Weren't Falkirk an aspiring team at that time, and why didn't you do the same. But luckily for you the ruling changed to 6000.
Did Raith not have the casting vote on the creation of the SPL with all its bizarre and franky stupid rulings?

If this happens - you will have my full support and i might even try and attend a Livingston 2009 v Gretna 2008 match in the EOS.
I'm assuming you would be as welcome, as a kick in the stanes. Given your relations with both sets of fans.

eh ? roll on Sat then.......
Ha, ha. He stated he was there to pay the players wages today. However, he may as well have said he was there to split the atom, for all the truth that was in it.

Would Livingston not have been entitled to 50% of the gate from last saturdays cup game against Queen of the South?
After Queens expenses were deducted. However, given there was less than 2000 at Palmerston, I think this amount will just be enough to cover Massone's, short break at the Sheraton. I believe the leisure facilities there are second to none, so it is value for money.

If Massone does relent, I do think they will survive. Certainly going by what the administrator was saying on SSN. Of course the 'if' I mentioned earlier looks to be insurmountable. Unless the chef at the Sheraton adds some cyanide to his bolognese sauce tonight.

They aren't getting paid, and are perfectly within their contractual rights to walk away.
I'm not sure that's quite right at the moment Jim. I asked this last week, just before they went into administration and it was pointed out, that they are still part of the club, until the club go into liquidation, or the administrator makes them redundant. Massone also stated today he was there to the players wages.

Massone has been 'chased round' the stadium according to a post on LivvyLions.
Take it that's not good news
Yes and the footage is

Behave yourself you fool. If you take the trouble to read my previous posts you will see I want Livi to survive. I was adding a bit of humour to the suspense.
You will notice, it was my lawn mower not Livi's. So why don't you just f**k off. Idiot.

I would not be surpised if clubs voted for the rule change to be honest. I'm sure there are a few that are struggling at the moment and if Livi can get away with it, I'm sure they will thinking it could be of a benefit to them in the future as well.
There's no doubt Livi should have been relegated with a points penalty at the very least. However, I believe the knights in shining armour would only come in if they were in the 1st Division. The SFL soiled themselves and agreed to these demands. As I have said previously, I did not want to see Livi fold, but I did want to see a fitting punishment, sadly if there is any, it will be minimal.
I backed the SFL previously, however it's now clear they are unable or unwilling to implement proper penalties for clubs in this position. The people in charge at the SFL should now resign or be forced out.
