  1. That (not waiting to belatedly flag) does still happen regularly from what I’ve seen.
  2. I think if it had been further into the season there would be a lot more dissent - given how glaring that was, the complaints seemed little more than going through the motions and they actually stayed a fair distance from the man in blue, such that the ref didn’t have to g et involved
  3. Surprisingly muted complaints from the Broxburn defence at the third goal! Surely easily offside?
  4. Thanks - that certainly could be her and Marvel rarely include stuff without a reason!
  5. There was a decent dramatisation made of that in 1982 on ITV. More details and a link to the full vid here: Lipton Trophy
  6. Complete lack of class! At least get off the podium first.
  7. With Alberto Moreno following with the winner, sounds like a Carlsberg ending!
  8. Villarreal must be concerned now that Fred is on?
  9. Covered in relation to social media abuse on tonight’s STV news, the Forfar keeper’s goal v Hearts was described by the newscaster as ‘Superb’ and by the Chair of Scottish Women’s Football as ‘a great goal’. Has anyone seen any footage that can correspond?
  10. Sound of Metal is rightly nominated for 6 Oscars. Available on Prime and I’d highly recommend it. Riz may not get the best actor nod ahead of BAFTA winner Anthony Hopkins (The Father - haven’t seen that, so can’t judge) or a posthumous award for Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s...), but gives a stellar performance in a very watchable story.
  11. Ah got my wires mixed up re that school. I was at Larbert, so got my main town ones mixed up. Graeme High’s claim to fame was of course captain GG!
  12. Thanks! Just noticed ‘Rockville’ - bl##dy autocorrect!
  13. My recollection was that Miller was a typical centre half, whereas Gibson was more a number 6, perhaps a Fabinho of his time. Of course in those days, the formation was sometimes 2-3-5, although I recall we sometimes played cattenacio, or 4-1-4-1, where Gibson would be the defensive 1. The defensive 4 were Abel (Seldom as sometimes nicknamed and I recall a teacher at Graeme High), Markie, Miiler & McLaughlin (Tiger). I think I recall Gibson breaking his leg at least once. Miller once scored direct from a corner at the far end at Brockville, but I can’t recall who against. I see that Miller was 29 when joining us and he played over 100 games over 3.5 years, before managing Dunfermline. Gibson only played 289 games over 11 years with us, but Would have been far more barring injury. What a team we had then, with Wilson Hoggan at right wing, Shirra in midfield and Fergie up front, with others such as Roxburgh, Setterington, Jack, Scott, Somner, Young, Harley, etc. filling the other slots. Highlight and lowlight for me were the same great League Cup run, where we put paid to Clyde, Aberdeen, Dundee & Hibs and got to a semi versus a Div 2 team, but didn’t turn up v Partick. Was great to be watching the reserves on the day the half time score of their hammering of Celtic came over the tannoy.
  14. I watched the whole series, as my wife thought it was brilliant and on a recommendation from our son who loves Cranston’s acting. I was so glad when it ended and absolutely delighted with the ending. Full of stupidity (e.g. calling the detective and lawyer) implausibility/extreme coincidences (e.g. the son hooking that hot teacher, the son pairing up with the gangster’s daughter, the judge having done the case relating to the family house of the car ‘thief’), apparent clues (e.g. black car, bloody rag, wife’s photos) that went essentially nowhere. For me this IMDB review sums it up perfectly, However on approaching 23000 reviews there, it’s scoring a very watchable 7.8, so ignore me! She’ll be watching any series 2 on her own!
  15. ‘the ref card’ - assuming you mean the double yellow, do you think either card was unwarranted, seriously?!?
  16. Sadly he (Fabinho) will probably get injured on Monday night,
  17. Sounds just like Scotland, albeit we now have 2 big teams again!
  18. That article is a little short on info. Even though it gives the clue ‘will...’, it misses out the detail that law changes are not made mid season and the proposed change (which has to be ratified) will come in July. And re that nonsensical non offside earlier in the season, they didn’t change the law application, just clarified. I know refs who were adamant that offside should have been given, but were told they were wrong by colleagues and were then quietly delighted when that clarification was later issued.
  19. That would be the one without VAR then. I was at Anfield last season, Liverpool scored or did they, VAR reviewing, so celebrations curtailed... It was given, boy is it a joy killer, even if you get the goal. Horrible, horrible, horrible!
  20. I detest Sportscene’s 4 replays for any incident where the ball goes towards the goals, even if it’s a shot that could make with my left foot and my (dead) granny could save with her eyes closed. It’s filler obviously, but painfully highlights some of the shite football in the Premier league. Better to cut down on the highlights and fill with articles about whatever, or even ‘on this day’ segments.
  21. What are you havering about - Robertson was playing neither of them onside!
