  1. Interesting - I logged on earlier to find out how ticket sales were going and was surprised to find that it insisted I log on first before I could even see the home end - your experiences probably explains it. Actually I was also quite surprised to see that ticket sales for the home end hadn't been exactly red hot. Section "B" is pretty much sold out as usual but there are some huge gaps in Sections A and C. It seems the betfred cup still isn't lighting the public's imagination
  2. At the end of the day it doesn't matter - well maybe to goal difference but we'll live with it. To be honest even with VAR I'm not sure the verdict would have definitely been any different - certainly it would have been difficult for the reviewer to definitely overrule the referee. Best think I can take from the day was a distraction from my usual steak pie to the Chicken and chorizo one which was pretty good - unfortunately it went downhill from then on.
  3. Actually I'd argue that training on an artificial surface was more intensive than playing a game on it.
  4. Its funny really because my eldest son has played on it a few times and remarks on how good it is. That being said he normally plays on other artificial five a side surfaces so his starting point may be different although he does play on grass some times but that's in municipal sites so the condition is probably pretty poor.
  5. Souda seems as good with the dead ball as Jacobs; also think he does up to half a dozen killer passes into the central area for our forwards (whoever they may be) to take advantage of. Stobbs looked good; particularly at Ross County if still a little unfit (by our standards). If he was fully fit I'd really struggle to pick from him or Robinson. However, of course, he's not injured.
  6. He was only on for about fifty five minutes against Alloa but in that time he was one of the best first appearances since Quino; Rubio and Lovell in that SPL opener against Hearts. Against Alloa he was almost unstoppable - I appreciate its only Alloa (no disrespect intended) but then again it was only Forfar. That being said pretty much the whole team was pretty average that day.
  7. I would prefer a fit Jacobs ahead of Crawford any day. Jacobs steadies the ship and allows players like Bartley and Pittman to shine further up the pitch. I like Crawford but still see his higher instances of errors as indicative of lack of experience at this level. Also when he plays it seems Bartley in particular needs to drop back which is a massive waste. Savane is an odd one; I thought he was hugely impressive against Alloa; decidedly average against Forfar and frankly a bit flaky when he came on against St Mirren. Maybe its a matter of lack of match practice? Don't know what's happened to Sibbald; he's been on the bench a few times but hardly made an appearance this season.
  8. It would be interesting to know whether the incidents of injury at clubs with artificial pitches is any higher than those with grass more from a point of view that the player play and train on the same pitch and, presumably, get more conditioned to the surface. That being said a lot of sides with grass pitches seem to train or artificial surface so would you really be comparing complete opposites? I must admit that a lot of the reports I've read almost seem to have been created with a preconceived viewpoint and the "evidence" is accumulated to try and prove that point.
  9. Blow-up dolls are no good - one love-bite and they fly out of the window......
  10. To be honest I've seen plenty of shite football irrespective of surface in my 60 years of watching the game. That being said the worst football I've seen recently has been with the English premiership - which isn't to do with the quality of the surface but more with the level of playacting; cheating and general over analytic nature of the hypo-commercial professional game; but then that's probably a different arguement.
  11. Are you sure you have? Quote: "FieldTurf is, in many cases, safer than natural grass when comparing injuries in collegiate men’s soccer."
  12. Just a thought - if injuries happen on grass and AstroTurf (for want of a better description) isn't the answer to play all games on asphalt? Or maybe give up playing football altogether - although there might be a few clubs further down that route than others....
  13. Strange week; really struggling to get excited about this one in spite of the fact that games v the Dons are generally pretty challenging affairs. With both sides suffering so many injuries so early in the season its almost like this is a pre season friendly with experimental sides. Personally I've no idea how this one is going to pan out.
  14. I'm still trying to work out what "repititious" means... I said I'm still trying to work out what "repititious" means....
  15. My heart-felt thoughts are with the friends and family of this young man. Very sad news.
  16. ....And we can go back to leather footballs with laces which leave an imprint on the forehead and allegedly caused brain damage but that was how the game was meant to be played. These newfangled footballs just don't bounce properly..
  17. Being described as "horrible" by one of the odious orcs is like Boris Johnston suggesting that someone else may not be entirely truthful. Actually brightened up by day with an irony overload
  18. Yes; that was the game v.s Stirling Albion wasn't it? Keaghan and Kyle played for us and Devon was for Albion. On several occasions the referee looked like he was going to produce a card only to change his mind when he saw the boys joking about.
  19. Have to ask when does a pass become a long ball? Often the idea of long ball is a hit and hope strategy; but most of our long passes, particularly from Lithgow, are to a man. Also the writer mentions that we don't have many natural dribbler; Souda; Lithgow and Robinson immediately come to mind ....
  20. Think the squad is 26 excluding loans but including Gary Maley. However if you take into account long term injuries to Odffin; Miller; and maybe Robinson it brings us down to a potential first team squad of 22. Five injuries and we cant put out a full squad and seven subs.
  21. Very strange - can't fathom that one at all if its correct. I thought he did okay pre season and indeed the sounds from the club were that he had a future with us. All I can guess is that there's something else in the pipeline. At the moment we're starting to look fairly threadbare.
