  1. I'll wait to see the responses from Detournement, Highlandmagyar and White Rose Killie before I come to a decision on this.
  2. Whoa, whoa, hold on a bit. Jim Duffy was 60 recently and there's every possibility that he and whoever may be off on holiday right now - it could be as mundane as that. As regards the player situation, there are no surprises in any of the departures and we are all going to have to get used to every season being a low budget lucky bag of short-term signings and loan deals. Having said that I'm convinced that if Jim Duffy stays then we'll have a slightly better quality lucky bag.
  3. Here we go...America is now deploying another warship and a Patriot missile system to the Middle East in response to (as always and almost certainly false) 'unidentified threats' from Iran, with the killer line that 'it does not seek war'. Bolton has obviously lost patience with Trump's slow progress on prosecuting a war, any war, and is taking the lead here. We look forward to the allies of the US standing four-square in condemnation.
  4. Er, perhaps not in the case of Grant Adam........
  5. Anyway, whilst everyone is waiting for white smoke why not enjoy this recent sighting of a former favourite - check the Vale of Clyde right-back.
  6. You do realise that one these parties opposes Brexit and the other is intent on making it happen ? Whichever one you find yourself in agreement with you should vote for.
  7. As I said I have posted my opinions with detail previously with fairly playground style responses. Chat amongst yourselves until the big day comes. Gotta love a Friday Flounce.....
  8. For one half v Killie he looked a decent holding target man; at the other extreme he had possibly the worst substitute cameo I've ever seen from a Sons player. In between there was next to nothing. Moving on......
  9. Dangerous stuff Sir !! I initially speed read your post and it was only when I went back to check something I realised it was a spoof. The less intelligent than myself, of which there are legions, could easily be fooled
  10. Yes, but I was aghast it didn't come in a little navy blue wallet.
  11. We shouldn't lose sight of the bigger prize here, the blood-spattered implosion of The Conservative & Unionist Party.
  12. Well placed sentiment will see decent players invited to re-sign. Misplaced sentiment will see players signed who won't assist in taking us to where we would like to be. As things stand we have more of the latter than the former.
  13. I fundamentally agree, especially your last paragraph. I think the club should take the lead by Emailing all those S/T holders who dropped off the radar this time last year. I've no doubt that a combination of falling out of the Championship with a brand of dire football and the generally flat mood around the club were big factors here. It probably also emerged that certain supporters had less confidence in Stevie Aitken than the rest of us. But we move on and I feel the Directors can certainly make an honest pitch asking everyone to now step up to the plate, and the sooner the better.
  14. No. Seriously no. And I hope if Jim Duffy and the DFC Board are serious about having a real go next season then there is no room for misplaced sentiment anywhere in the squad.
  15. Don't think so.... outside a few simpering females in Windsor I don't think anyone gives a flying f**k. Not that that will stop tomorrow's English tabloids.
  16. Good stuff....I reckon that as a percentage of time on the pitch Dom Thomas had more shots at the opposition goal than any Sons player since the days of Hughie Gallagher; I'm struggling to recall anyone with more efforts from every range and angle.
  17. It depends on what you mean by 'crush' ; the reality will be that The Brexit Party will receive, say, 31% of a 24% turnout which will equate to a crushing minority of the UK electorate. Not their fault of course, but folk like you are obviously being seduced by the headlines instead of pausing to consider that for months now the country's direction of travel has been towards Remain. May is try to cut and run to save the Tories' hide - everyone else should politely ignore her.
  18. It has been depressing to see how Thursday's municipal elections are being spun by the media solely as a protest at the failure to deliver Brexit, and not as a a rising tide of contempt at Brexit itself and the serial incompetence and duplicity of both Labour and the Tories. Corbyn should think long and hard about agreeing ANYTHING with May as it is likely to be shredded in weeks and by that time Labour and the rest of us will be screwed. If he needs any advice then he could do worse than phone one N.Clegg.
  19. Talking about wee Pep, he must be practicing his interview technique in the mirror right now given all the managerial gigs that are about to appear.
  20. Congratulations Alloa, and especially the ex-Sons posse at your club - a super achievement in staying up.
  21. No I don't, but I'm fascinated by the continual assumption from Corbyn, Leonard and Co that a GE will magically usher Labour into power - it won't. Especially when they think that by being all things to all people on Brexit is the way to go - it isn't.
  22. If ever there was an apposite title for a thread then last night's English council election results surely confirmed it. Is there now anyone outwith Corbyn and his inner circle who thinks that Labour has a hope in Hell of winning the next UK General Election ?
  23. I can't help thinking that Jim Duffy will be eyeing possible developments at Firhill, Falkirk, Dumfries and possibly Dundee and Kirkcaldy over the next wee while.
  24. If age has provided me with anything it may be the faculty to seldom accept anything at face value, especially where politics is concerned. Consider this. Last week the US security apparatus condemned the UK Government's decision to involve Huawei in any shape or form in future telecoms projects; the news had originally been leaked to The Telegraph, by persons or persons unknown, but that's not how the Yanks got to hear about it. Had the US not issued its threat on future cooperation then the leak enquiry would have gently drifted into the ether, with the usual lessons learned, etc., The fact that they did however has forced May's Government to seek to hastily ditch the Huawei deal, shit scared as they are of the Americans, especially with Brexit looming (indeed it is surprising it ever materialised in the first place). What better then than to sacrifice the most hapless member of a hapless Cabinet, namely Private Pike, and to kill two birds with one stone ? The leaker is hung out to dry, job done, but more importantly, under cover of Williamson's sacking and the horror of leaked highly sensitive info expect May's Government to now revisit and reassess the entire Huawei project, with a wholly predicatable outcome. Better to offend Beijing than Washington after all, and normal service will quickly be resumed.
  25. So here I am, anorak zipped up watching Fylde entertain HarrogateTown on BT Sport, and blow me if our old pal Josh Falkingham isn't pulling the midfield strings for the visitors. Who amongst us can ever forget the rag-dolling Kevin Nicholl gave the wee shite in the Play-Off Semi-Final versus the Lichties in 2012 ?
