  1. Pretty much this. I thought first half we were really good, and probably were the better team. Unfortunately undone by predominantly Fyvie who to his credit has been class every time I've seen him against us this season. It shows why Cove are champions elect really, because it was actually quite an even game. Had the stream for this one- commentators were really good but the automatic camera needs to go in the bin. If I was a Cove fan I would have been going nuts because the camera missed every single one of their corners first half . Obviously the fog played a part, the camera couldn't locate the ball. Beaten but certainly not disgraced, hopefully we can push on and finish the season with a couple of wins.
  2. Rice for me has done more than enough to be offered an extension in summer. We aren't perfect, but he has improved us significantly since coming in. Although to be fair my 12 year old daughter would have set up the team better than the last guy. This Falkirk job will be up in summer, so there may be other options available for him. If he goes it is what it is, but so far he's done what's been asked of him and we now look a fairly competent team.
  3. Its definitely something the manager needs to think about. I still think hes our most dangerous threat in the final third- but when hes not scoring (and he hasnt been prolific recently) questions do tend to be asked of him. I like the setup of the front 3 with Henderson and MacIver either side of Sammon, but in that setup we do need him to do a bit more. The suggested replacement of Cawley inevitably puts a lot more craft in there. Boyd also frustrated me a bit last week. Has ability, and definitely contributes to the team positively- just gives the ball away a bit too much for me. I want to love him as a player, but its just that wee Achilles heel of losing possession too often. Id be tempted to stick with Henderson for the potential threat, but could completely understand if he was benched and introduced later in the game. Also think we may play with a bit more of a solid shape this Saturday, so Henderson may make way for the likes of Sena or even Riley-Snow.
  4. Plenty parking right outside the main stand, no charge I don't think
  5. That waste ground is now a Lidl store. There's still some parking there but very limited. And KFC apparently try to dish out fines, so best bet is the big car park at Morrisons/B&M further up.
  6. I'll be phoning at 6pm Monday night sharp if we get 3 points this weekend. Think Waspie makes a good point with MacIver. Obviously came on at 0-0 last weekend for Sammon and just stretched East Fife defence a bit more effectively. He really should have put his first goal away too but even so I think its likely he'll play from start. I know Dumbarton on a bad run, but given the history between the two sides in more recent years I just dont expect ever getting an easy game. They beat us at Recs last time out although to be fair we looked likely to push on and win that one until a silly Mendy red card. Similarly it took a goalkeeping error to get the 3 points in the last game. After that horrific loss at home to East Fife I would never have suspected we would have a chance to secure safety with four games left to play
  7. Sending off was so late on it had no outcome on the game. But looked very harsh indeed, looked a good tackle. Could see why the Peterhead players were irate about it.
  8. Win on Saturday a big 3 points for us and gives us some breathing space from 9th. Looking at the run in, I'd guess 3 more wins would be more than enough to guarantee safety, with more winnable games in the coming weeks. The most vital game looks like the next home one against Dumbarton, although obviously all are important. Remaining fixtures- East Fife (a) Dumbarton (h) Clyde (h) Falkirk (a) Cove (a) Montrose (h) So 3 games we would be looking to win, followed by 3 tougher games. However...Cove may have the league sewn up (especially if they beat Airdrie this weekend coming) and Montrose will have playoffs in mind, so in theory those games may not be as tough as they look on paper. Getting to the 40 point mark should be enough, and we are on 33 just now. But 3 wins would surely see us safe from 9th.
  9. We're definitely looking better although it took us a while to get going against QP. But as Waspie said, it's points we need and we should have picked up more from the last 3 games. Hopefully the points will come.
  10. I wrote similar in the match programme. I'm not sure if Henderson is nearly as effective in this system, albeit he played against a decent well drilled Airdrie team and a tattie field last week. So those aspects may be mitigating circumstances. I guess it's a watch and see. As you say, our top goalscorer so we want to maximise his impact if possible.
  11. I dont see anyone selling them on matchday anymore, although you might be able to get a hold of physical copies in the club shop- portacabin next to the pie stall. Alloa twitter account also posts the link every week to buy online through the website- usually on a Wednesday or a Thursday before the home fixture.
  12. Also worth noting the entire Cove Rangers bench emptied and they ran into the corner for a big pile on when they equalised against us a few weeks ago.
  13. Not a great game to watch but hard to blame the players from either side when the majority of the surface resembles a tattie field. Back 3 of Howie, Durnan and Andy worked well. Taggart also far more effective (as we know) playing on the right. Manager clearly based his selection on the opposition and surface. Fair play to him for giving Riley-Snow an outing but surely Robbo comes right back in next week. Room for improvement in the middle of the park. Sammon worked his socks off again. Queens didn't appear to have enough ideas to break us down, but credit where its due the equaliser was a cracker. Long range effort probably the only way they were going to score. We have a bit to go, but we do look more organised with a plan and purpose. Would have been a massive 3 points but can't fault the effort of the players.
  14. I thought we were definitely better and heading in the right direction. But it was mistake changing Sammon for Henderson. Henderson had some good touches but he was spreading himself too thin and didn't appear to have a defined role. Not much in the game but Airdrie definitely a bit more street smart and quite impressive. In normal circumstances probably quite disappointed but given where we are right now probably still a step in the right direction. Thought Cawley was excellent. Hopefully the result doesn't derail the morale of the team. It wasn't great today but still we look more of a team than we did a month back.
  15. I'd have expected new goalkeeper to start too, but going by the managers comments in the programme not so sure now.
  16. Quite astonishing repetitive behaviour from a grown man ^^^^^^^^^^^
  17. Not sure if he'll start, although he is available again after a 2 game suspension. Sammon was a standout last week and manager signed Ross MacIver during the week on loan. Suspect he'll play some part though.
  18. Theres an option for both e-ticket and pay at gate. E-ticket here Alloa Athletic v Airdrieonians - Alloa Athletic FC
  19. You can pay at turnstile mate, and no passport checks unless it's a bigger game.
  20. I still don't understand what you want the club to report this week after the managers appointment. I don't think you know yourself either. Anyway, as you rightly say in your initial post- match programme is available to download, and there's plenty of information contained within covering present and past. Which is why I find the criticism even more bizarre.
  21. Was also hoping you'd have more of a constructive contribution on here after Baz had gone, but hey ho appears not.
  22. What information are you looking for in the 3 whole days and 1 training session that's occurred since Monday?
  23. Pretty much, And King, Sena and Robbo seemed to each know their jobs in midfield, which was something we havent been accustomed to in a while. King and Sena were much improved, and Robbo, well is Robbo.
  24. Pitch was undoubtedly a shocker, but fair play to the club for the patch up job to at least allow the ref to deem it playable and get the game on. Yeah the Boyd thing was pretty noticeable, but he might have just been embroiled in the game, or annoyed about something that went on just prior to coming off. Never really noticed the Hutton stuff on Saturday, but it does seem to go on most away games. I also thought atmosphere was a whole lot better, but away crowd seemed lower than last time we visited Dumbarton. Was hoping Fergusons departure would get more people along, but I guess there was a storm late in the week and some folk might have been put off travelling too far from home.
