  1. Aidan, there's very few rumours doing the rounds but don't worry I hear the management team has identified a few new players and they are working to get them signed.

Many clubs have to rebuild almost their entire team over the summer but Big Hunter has already signed most of the squad from last season.  It's evidence that the players want to play for the manager and there is a good team spirit at the club.

So Man City are suing the Premier League saying that the rules they totally didn't break are illegal?

Man City know they broke the rules and they know it can be established they broke the rules.  Their only option is to try and get the rules removed.

They will fail......but their lawyers will make millions from the attempt.

Is the lowland league kicking off on 27th July this year?

    Yes.

East Kilbride will have finished their League Cup group fixtures a few days before so there should be a full list of LL fixtures that day.

Found that thoroughly depressing. Both uninspiring and difficult to tell who the Labour leader was as both sounded very Tory.

In the good old days Tories used to be out on the right with Labour out on the left.

Nowadays both party leaders are firmly focused on battling for the middle ground as that's what they know will secure victory.

p.s. that was a terrible watch by the way.

    Human greed knows no limits.

His current net worth means he and his children will be wealthy all their lives.

Moving to the Saudi League would probably mean his grandchildren would be wealthy all their lives too.

  6. On my first trip to Tayport there was a real scary looking woman at the Pie Hut.  Loads of tattoos and facial piercings........including 3 metal stars on her forehead. A real growler........but her wares were meaty, warm and tasty so no complaints from me.

  7. Good warm ups v West Premier opposition.

Clydebank finished 4th and Pollok  6th last season.

I was at the Pollok  friendly last season.  Enjoyed the beers but the BU's were well beaten that day.

  8. 6 LL + 5 HL will face 11 premier league B teams.   Read elsewhere Ross County don't have a B team so my best guess is:-

The 5 HL teams will be paired against a B team from Aberdeen, Dundee, Dundee United, St Johnstone and ??? (no obvious 5th team to play a regional game v a Highland team !!!).

The BU's +5 other LL clubs will face a B team from Rangers, Celtic, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, St Mirren and ???

I predict that it will be Hearts and Hibs who fill the ??? spaces.

  9. When watching the Premier League on TV you see the stat "most points lost from a winning position"........ my impression from reading last seasons posts is Cowdenbeath would top the Lowland League equivalent. Dropped points killed your season.

  10. First Lowland League fixture is on Saturday 27 July.

Guarantee the BU's will have friendlies on Saturday 13 and 20.

Possibly a game on the 6th.

Almost certainly a few midweek games as well.

  11. Trav is a specialist centrehalf....... in fact a very special specialist centrehalf.  One of my favourite players to watch.   I have said before that he should be the Captain as he leads by example.

Trav  + one other is fine with me. My concern is if he gets injured or goes on holiday.   You need a player who can dominate that area of the park especially when a big number 9 is throwing their weight about.

Hawkeye, McCauley and Irving have all played centrehalf and done it well but none of them are a specialist centrehalf. All three very good players but not the same player as Trav.

  12. Don't know Boheesian.

I would like Hamilton to stay.  He can play and after his serious injury his recovery has gone well.

Rutherford is injury prone. Anything approaching a tackle sees him limping off and missing a few games.  I also think Keir Macaulay is the best left back in the Lowland League so Rutherford can go IMO.

  13. Here's my assessment of the team/squad for the season ahead:-

Goalkeeper:- Ruddy needs serious competition so we need another keeper.

Centrehalf:- Trav and Hawkeye were solid last season but we need to get a specialist centrehalf.

Back 3 or 4 or 5 :-  We have plenty of defensive minded players who can play various positions.  Apart from a centrehalf I don't think we need any other defensive players.

Midfielders- I am generally happy with the midfield.  Not a priority for recruitment......but if Hunter sees an upgrade he will take it.

Attack- I think we need a target man to hold the ball up and allow others to play off him.  Mitchell, Grant and Porteous would all benefit from playing with a target man.

Biggest strength ??  Last season it was a happy camp and there was a togetherness in the squad.   Sure Hunter and Gemmell will keep the squad tight and focussed......and for that reason I reckon only 4 or 5 signings will arrive this season.
