  1. I've known and watched Calvin playing since he was a kid had a good chat with him about a fortnight ago when I asked him why he wanted to go back amateur and his answer was wasn't enjoying it at Talbot because he was not playing regularly and that's his reason for going amateur he wants to play every week now he's at darvel if he doesn't play most weeks then in my opinion he won't hang around for long good player when in the mood .
  2. Now that talbot are in the final this now means they will be at least 5 league game behind everyone else so early in the season ? If they draw on Saturday it will be 6 games behind them if they win that game that will put them 7 games behind and we will only be in mid October . This is not a criticism of talbot but the crazy amount of games that a successful team has to squeeze in and I know some talbot fans will say it is what it is but it wrong come the end of the season 6 of 7 teams hanging around for weeks just to finish the league because talbot are like last season 9 games behind makes a mockery of the league. It's not fair on Talbot but it's definitely not fair on every other team in the league.
  3. I'm sure someone said on here when they signed him he wouldn't last the season?
  4. After our editor quit after 20 years of more doing our programme we were going to bin them but such was the demand to keep them going we have someone new who is now doing them there's more quality in them hence the price increase we now get ours done in Glasgow where the printing is a lot better than our old printer. We have also started to put them online to read for free.
  5. When the buffs were up there 3 seasons ago for a replay think we had 5 buses and there was no problem getting in or out of the ground . If I go back to the nineties then it was 14 buses for that game .
  6. Your right l pies only doon the brae but when you go to beechwood the delicatessen is on a different level.
  7. A great article well written and spot on about our game . I know it's nothing to do with largs but an editors point of view but we can see where the club see their future. Hopefully more top West club's start making some noise and send a message to the West region and the sjfa that they better deliver or I can see a breakaway league and that won't help anyone.
  8. Whoever had Meadow or Vic's on Marymass Saturday at home would have a very small away crowd so would have a reduced income today and whoever had them away from home would struggle for their players, officials and fans get to Meadow or Vics Park in time for kick off due to traffic restrictions and road closures that would make it a nightmare for teams that don't know Irvine to get around. Agree to disagree on this but I can see when teams go into pyramid questions being asked but a lot of very valid reasons to continue this traditional derby game. Yup think ,we will agree to disagree very valid points you make there but it's all about opinions. Yes I've been to the marymass many times was taken over by my grand parents and parent's and was always at the shows on the moor on a Friday night .
  9. Cheers for your reply and I agree with some of your points but again the only town this promotes is Irvine it does nothing for kilwinning, stevenston kilbirnie or any other town in the west you are only looking at it from an Irvine point of view and as you say it a big annual event but in my opinion if a team in the West has no game on a Saturday because of this event it's wrong! And I know it creates a lot of money for both club's but it's not in the interests of other clubs to help fill their rival's bank balance.
  10. Thought the buffs were u lucky today not to take 3 points 2 dubious decisions from the ref was the talking points I couldn't see any obvious free kick when we hit the net for the second but it wasn't to be then ford take a quick free kick to knock it over the buffs defence two player shoulder to shoulder but the ref who by the way was not up with play makes a decision from the half way line that's a penalty? Hopefully someone has filmed it and we might get a clearer view of both incidents. Ps well done to Gary Fleming for going in goals for over an hour and played a blinder.
  11. We did have a good crowd today hurlford brought a good crowd and cheers to the 20 odd medda fans for turning up for an overall crowd around 400 . Not trying to be nasty about the marymass game just pointing out which I think is wrong no matter how many years it's been done.
  12. So in simple terms it's good for Irvine and means nothing to anyone else. Think we will start an annual segdoune queen annual fitba game and get the region to let us play on a Friday night?
  13. This game going ahead every year still amazes how can a friendly jamboree still take preference over league games only in the juniors this could happen. The quicker the pyramid comes in the better and things like this no longer take preference over a league game. Ps I'm not saying you have not to play it but not at the expense of other teams having a free Saturday. I know this year it's worked out that the sectional has filled the void but what about every other year .
  14. What a game amount of chances the buffs created unbelievable ! Great first goal from the glens but the rest of the highlights must be painful viewing for you. Great camera work especially when the lights were on!
  15. Found out today that Matt speirs has passed. Matt was one of the longest serving in the old Ayrshire league and spent many years as match Secretary always had time for a chat when I met him mainly at troon where he was still doing his match report for the local paper. RIP matt
  16. Thanks for the nice comments. Just to correct you on one thing though. We didn't take our striker (Jay McKay) off till the 86th minute and it was 4-3 at that point. Jay had run himself to a standstill. We only made one other substitution in the game, and that was just before half time at 2-0. So the substitution of McKay wasn't what brought the pressure on us, it was just Buffs raising the intensity of their game to a very high level. Cheers for for that I thought he went of earlier and I repeat good people and facilities good luck for the rest of the season.
  17. That was some game last night when we were 3.0 down you could have said fxxk this I'm away hame but when you look back great goal for the glens first the next two poor defending on our part so strange as it might sound we are 3.0 down but are the better team the glens keeper was on top form and thinking were not for scoring here tonight. At 4.1 glens take the forward off that's giving our defence problems the glens start to be pinned back in their own half and what happened in the next 13 mins plus added time was unbelievable to score 4goals against a keeper who was clearly man of the match was brilliant. Can't wait to see the highlights ! All the the best to the glens good bunch of people and great facility up there with one of my favourite junior grounds.
  18. Sounds like what mo Johnston says turned down all those offers but dervil is the only team I've ever wanted to play fur !
  19. You have better players than the buffs well on the day only 1 player from your team would get into ours and he isn't even yours the guy on loan from hamilton the rest especially your defence are not very good . I also watched you against st rochs in the friendly and they were the better team that night I'm afraid your team is not as good as you think?
  20. Where do you sign up to join the pied piper XI put me down for a membership because I'm normal and watch all different levels of football but watch all the buffs games not because they play in the juniors but because that's the TEAM I follow.
  21. The land they were getting was being gifted by the council so when austerity kicked in the council had to put it up for sale to the highest bidder. As for the money from adamslie it's ring fence for the new ground but because the council pulled out it meant they couldn't build the ground to the original plan. As I said I'm only getting this information from people I talk to from Rob Roy .
  22. I'm not a roy supporter but what I was led to believe they would have been in their new ground within 2years of moving from adamslie which was just over 5 seasons ago but they hit complications through council planning then the council withdrawing funding when all the austerity measures rolled in all over Scotland then the land they were promised was put up for sale to the highest bidder . I would say that's not the committees fault more the local council that's let them down ? When their new ground will start being built who knows!
