Beechwood Park looked splendid in the sun, Talbot scored 6, Whitletts Victoria got none. Three 1st half efforts from McKinley, Young, & Shankland, all from inside the 6 yd box virtually put Talbot out of sight. Another 3 in the 2nd half, courtesy of a Graham Wilson free kick from 20yds. Gordon Pope was next with a glancing header from 6yds similar to Geoff Hurst’s header in the 1966 World Cup quarter Final against Argentina. Kier Sampson finished off the scoring when he got it over the line from close range. Whitletts gave Talbot several problems after the interval & went close on several occasions. Andrew Leishman had 3 very good saves. No 6 Cunningham had a good chance to put his side in front early on, but couldn’t get his header on target. No 10 Donovan showed up well & went close on a couple of occasions. Talbot no 7 Healy looked the classiest player on the pitch.

Its highly fashionable in today’s game to be disrespectful to match officials, DL. You shouldn’t join in. Lots of good things going on at your club, don’t waste it by slating the officials. There is much more to being Champions, than winning the league.

Darvel 3-4 Shotts. 2 late goals from the visitors gave them a well deserved victory in a highly entertaining game. Shotts went in at half time a goal in front courtesy of a close range tap in from their no 9 who was the finest player on the pitch. Darvel had lots of quality possession, but did not trouble Johnny Murdoch in the Shotts goal. 2nd half,Darvel introduced hit man Archie into the action. Within 10 mns Johnny was retrieving the ball twice from his net, unfortunately for Darvel his 1st effort was a yard offside. Next up Darvel’s best player no 11 netted a free kick from 20 yds. Shotts retaliated by rushing up the pitch & their no 9 finished off a fine move from close range. Darvel took the huff at this, & regained the lead when their no 10 blasted them in front after Archie intelligently played the ball back to him & he blasted home from 18 yds. With the game very much in the balance Darvel mysteriously took off their danger man no 11. Shotts immediately put them to the sword through 2 fine goals. Firstly Shotts no 8 equalised with a brave header from the 6 yd line. Then in the last minute MOM Shotts no 9 tapped home the winner from close range. Great game thanks,to everyone concerned.

Both teams gave everything. Vics finished very strongly & nearly got a late equaliser. Darvel impressed, Darren Miller outstanding. Apart from his goal he nearly scored 3 times from left wing corner kicks. Vics goalie, & no 8, played very well. Also liked Darvel’s no 11.

A glancing header 6yds from goal from Jags no 12, 10 mns into the 2nd half got his team an equaliser. Good play from Jags no 8 on the 18 yd line set up the chance. Jags competed well for the rest of the game, but Vics were very creative in midfield & created several good goal scoring opportunities.. Vics no6 scored from close range, right on time up to give his team a hard fought victory. He looked happier than a Porn Star on overtime. Well done to both teams, & the Referee for providing an entertaining nights football.
