Hurlford 3-1 Shotts Bon Accord. Hurlford flew the boxes, & took an early lead when their best player Chris Robertson powerfully headed home from 6yds,a delightful corner from the left taken by the very impressive Marc McKenzie. The Hurlford lads doubled their advantage after 15mns,when a fine flowing move started by captain Paul McKenzie continued by Marc McKenzie, & finished by Lewis Morrison when he blasted home from the 18yds. Shotts response was rapid, one of their lads won a midfield tussle & hit an inviting ball over the home defence, their no9 Jordan Love timed his run to perfection & hit a lovely pitch & run over the advancing Martin McDonald in the Hurlford goal. Soon after he came close to equalising when he appeared in acres of space in to Hurlford defence, & his effort only just missed the target. Half time Hurlford 2-1 Shotts Bon Accord. The space given to Jordan did not impress Hurlford gaffer Darren Henderson & I enjoyed listening to his half time team talk, whilst I was in line at the very impressive pie hut. Hurlford left winger Jack Whittaker finished the scoring when he took possession from a throw in, ran across the pitch & from 20yds curled a belter past Shotts goalie Johnny Murdoch. Hurlford into round 4, Shotts made them work very hard for the passage.
