I too am a huge fan of the complete overreactions on Facebook comments sections when crimes are reported. Dig deep enough in the STV page and you’re bound to find something like a story of a 13 year-old who nicked a packet of Starburst for a dare and some yummy mummy type will have pasted in a screenshotted image of a noose from Google Images.

In general, the rising popularity of made-up stories just for the #numbers. The worst one I've seen recently was the boy pretending to have lost his keys, and found them lodged in a slice of toast that he 'found' behind the couch. He actually made a slice of toast and pierced his house key through it, as if that made it any more believable.

I think Twitter have been evaluating what a blue tick ‘means’ and the kind of message it gives i.e. some people might view a verified account as some form of endorsement from Twitter themselves. Tbf that’s not the best excuse for them, I think everyone would understand if they just admitted that they think Tommy Robinson is a c**t. I think they’re removing a number of people’s blue ticks, but I doubt any of them will have such a fucking whinge about it as much as TR.
