  1. No surprises from the three games tonight. Arniston keep themselves in the hunt for promotion with a win at Hawick. Thornton are really building up a head of steam as they approach a tough stretch of fixtures. And St Andrews can pretty much secure promotion with a win at Heriot Watt on Saturday.
  2. As for the make up of this new conference how many Highland league teams will want to be in this league given that they voted against a national non league cup as they didn’t want the travel?
  3. The plan is for the Conference League to be run as a separate entity outwith the SPFL. That way the SFA can set it up without it going to a vote of the SPFL clubs.
  4. The game has been moved to 13th May and we are now playing our King Cup QF on the 29th. It wasn’t a good performance on Tuesday night but we’ll take the three points. Hopefully we’ll be better at Tweedmouth on Saturday.
  5. Huge win for Beith at Auchinleck tonight. is it definite that Beith are ineligible for the playoffs?
  6. The new abomination(sorry conference) League is not due to come into force until the season after next so it won’t affect any promotion places this season. I’ve not heard anything to suggest that the second placed team in the Third division won’t be promoted.
  7. All clubs were told they could move their games to the Friday night, Sunday or even midweek. I was gutted as I have a season ticket for Scotland but St Andrews it was. Still I’ll be at Hampden for a scary game on Tuesday night.
  8. FWF was referring to the situation if Linlithgow replace Dalbeattie in the Lowland League. At the moment it is three down and two up but the above scenario would see an extra team promoted from the third leaving ten teams in the bottom division.
  9. Most of the guys who played for Syngenta against us in august are cup tied. Camelons team for Saturday will feature the remaining members of their squad plus some under 20s. The youngsters weren’t needed last night as no one was cup tied in the league cup.
  10. Rosyth 2 St Andrews 4 Saints came from two down to book a last 16 clash at Camelon a week on Saturday. St Andrews were on top for all bar a ten minute spell in the first half and in the second forty five prevented Rosyth from having a single effort at goal.
  11. A couple of interesting results today with Stirling Uni dropping unexpected points and Heriot Watt winning comfortably at Dalkeith. I just wish they would resolve the Syngenta situation so we can see where we really stand.
  12. I can’t understand why they weren’t allowed to use the ground until Lidl were ready to build their new store.
  13. So is this going to be another 4G/5G in a cage or is it going to look like a professional football ground?
  14. Absolutely superb result from St Andrews today at Thornton. Five up after only 22 mins and featuring one of the fastest hat tricks in the clubs history. Thanks to the weather this was the chance to play one of our games in hand and we have now put a bit of space between ourselves and the sides below us.
  15. It’s interesting that Camelons announcements of their new signings make no mention of which team the players have come from. They list the guys previous clubs but not Syngenta.
  16. You’re right. I had it in my head that the winner of the EOS, WOS and SOS playoffs then met the bottom team in the Lowland league. You don’t want to know what else is in my head.
  17. No, Dalbeattie. If Linlithgow are promoted and Dalbeattie relegated then the EOS Premier will be reduced to 15 teams as Dalbeattie will play in the South of Scotland league. That is when the 4th team would be promoted from the First to make up the 16 teams. If Edinburgh Uni finish bottom rather than Dalbeattie then 4th place won’t be promoted as Edinburgh will play in the EOS Premier. Darvel don’t come into it as far as 4th place in the First is concerned.
  18. The team in 4th place will be promoted if the EOS loses a team to the Lowland League. That would only happen if Linlithgow beat Dalbeattie in the playoff final. Then the 4th placed sides in the First and Second divisions would be promoted as well as the 3rd Place side in the Third division.
  19. Syngenta have been given fixtures in the latest update to be issued so they certainly haven’t withdrawn yet. There is a board meeting next week so we may get more of an update then.
  20. Syngenta were originally turned down for a place in the EOS because of confusion about which ground they were going to use. That didn’t stop the juniors from taking them in. Was that an embarrassment?
  21. We already have regionalisation. Scotland is divided into two regions, Highland and Lowland. The Lowland is divided into three more regions, West, South and East. How much further do we need to go? If teams don’t want to travel to play a game of football they should be in the amateur leagues. Honestly, if Duns join the EOS is it too much to ask them to come to Fife three or four times in a season?!?
  22. Hey, give us our due!! It was Glenrothes 1 St Andrews 5. Glens were one up when they had a player sent off for raising his hands. It was one way traffic after that and Saints could have scored more.
  23. Mark was an integral part of the success that St Andrews had under Jim Hardie. He was hard working, extremely knowledgeable and always happy to help, whether it was within the club, secretaries at other clubs or with the media. Most recently I believe he was writing the non league columns for the Courier. A big loss to football in this area.
  24. That the main man at Syngenta has left and gone to Camelon. I’ve heard this from a separate source from this forum. I haven’t seen team line ups for Syngenta’s last few games to see if their team is weakened but results may speak for themselves.
  25. Great result for Darvel, but an even better performance. it wasn’t a backs to the wall, anywhere will do showing. They looked like the Premier League team out there. Can’t pay them a bigger compliment.
