1. Nope. They have actually always been known as Hillfield Swifts FC, up until this season. My kids have played for them. Go check their Facebook page and photos and you will see Hillfield on their badges. THE Swifts FC is a new name for this season after the move away from playing at Inverkeithing.
2. Yep, the club itself was formed in 2000 but the name change to The Swift’s has just been this season as they have relocated games away from Ballast Bank to Dalgety Bay.
3. Yes, I mentioned it further up the thread. Inverkeithing and Hillfield dropped, now known as The Swift’s after the move to Dalgety Bay.
4. Just for info, the Inverkeithing and Hillfield parts have been dropped from the club name and it’s now The Swift’s FC. Games now in Dalgety Bay rather than Inverkeithing.
5. Agree with all of that. Thought we were probably lucky to go in ahead at HT after a very even first 30 mins. Arbroath certainly went up a level after going 2-0 down. I think it possibly showed yesterday with 2 midfielders in defence. McNab was excellent v Dundee Utd and E Fife but had an uncomfortable afternoon yesterday. Decent shout for a pen for Austin but also, from roar from Arbroath end, for one when McNab tangled in the box and possibly handled. There was enough missed chances and blocks from Arbroaths attacks to say they were deserving of the win, no doubt. All in, have attributed ourselves well v some higher league sides. Real fun and games starts this Saturday!
6. I was impressed with Arbroath today, probably the difference between a good L2 side and a Championship. Quite a bit of pace and power in that team. An even 30 mins where we looked quite settled, played some decent and delighted to be 2 ahead. After that, I was happy to go in ahead at HT, a level score line wouldn’t have been unfair. Done in the second half, was pretty much one way and if it had finished 4/5-2 would’nt have complained. Thought Austin had a shout for a pen with about 10 to go but given the shout from the Arbroath end it sounded like McNab got away with a handball too? Few of the comments above - both RB Black and CB McNab are naturally midfielders filling in. Showed a bit today. Won’t face teams like Arbroath in League 2 and if we can perform like we did for 30 mins for 90 in the league should go well. Cracking steak pies from the pie hut!
7. Not quite sure in the thinking of having Haws, Swift’s, Crossgates and even Dundonald all playing away at same time. Would have popped along to one of them tonight if at home. Rosyth it is then.
8. Very good performance. I was worried having seen McNab at centre back for a bit v Montrose but he was excellent last night. Good all round performance and with a wee bit of luck could have taken it to pens in the last 5 mins. Not quite sure what happened with Cardle’s chance. Let it run across his body and I’m expecting him to smash it in and it just sort of ran away from him.
9. I don’t believe playing B team football in the 5th tier in Scotland will improve them to any great degree. If it’s to really benefit ALL of Scottish football then it needs to be at a higher level than LL. If it’s to be done FAIRLY then any B team needs to earn the right to play at the highest level they can achieve….by starting at the very bottom and working their way there. Same as any other club in the pyramid.
10. Why should they go into the LL straight away and jump 150+ teams? If Rangers or Celtic or anyone else wants a Colts team in LL, let them earn their place by entering the pyramid at the bottom tier of the relevant regional league, assuming they meet all the criteria. Let them earn the right to play in the LL, not hand them it on a plate. Now that’s integrity.
11. Silly goal to lose from Kelty, just not marking up at a corner gave the boy a free scuff at goal which someone else turned in. Up until that point felt it could and would have been more than the 1-0. Brechin then got a bit of belief from the goal and it was a scrappy second half of the 1st half bar the goal for Russell. Thought Tidser and Reilly could have been 10-15 yards further forward in second half. Both seemed quite deep. Jamieson made a great close range save from what I could see in South Enclosure. Brechin keeper also made great save from Higgy at start of 2nd half. Tight game, Brechin certainly had a bit energy about them, seems a few young lads in that side.
12. Got my Kelty email asking for my vote. A resounding NO from me. Hopefully, as mentioned above by leomessi1984 that seems to be the way the majority of returns are going.
13. Pretty sure the idea, at the moment, is to live stream games when fans not allowed to attend, so this Saturdays friendly v Tynecastle. I’m pretty certain that when fans are allowed back anyone who is local would much rather attend, if possible, than watch on a tablet or phone.
14. Yes, fair point, I have seen more than 2 games! My take on the Auchinlek game was that they were a good, well drilled, strong side. But I thought Kelty had the better of about the first 20-25 mins, had them pinned back, without really creating much. Auchinlek scored from a set piece, their first chance in the game and Kelty immediately shat the bed and started punting long balls to Austin and trying to get the ball forward far too quickly and directly. Which was meat and drink to the very good Auchinlek defence. Even going in at HT 1-0 down, it was still on to turn it around but the goal on the break right before HT killed the game stone dead. After the break Auchinlek coasted it, no doubts, but the fight was gone from Kelty by HT. Last night I thought BSC were a threat from the off, played some good football, were pretty well organised and pressed Kelty throughout. And this was quite a better Kelty side than in September. They did possibly tire in the last 10 mins or so, plus 5/6 of injury time, as Kelty threw a lot at them but thats not a massive surprise given the effort they had put in. Just my opinion of seeing one game each of the two sides, I thought BSC the better side. Auchinlek are also a very good side, I was just more impressed with BSC.
15. I was Hill O’ Beath v Whitehill about 2/3 weeks ago. He was dreadful there and had run ins with both benches through the game. I said to my mates at the start he wasn’t a good ref.
16. That’s not what I am saying though. I just thought BSC were the better side of the two games I’ve seen at Kelty this season. I was very I impressed with them last night, more so than I was with Auchinlek.
17. Only 4 of the team that started v Auchinlek started last night. Ashe came on but played RB, last night, 2 different, and better, CBs last night, different midfield bar Hubby and Reilly. Auchinlek were a very well drilled/organised side and certainly the better side on the night v Kelty. BSC just seemed a better overall team IMO.
18. I was in the stand and it looked a shocker of a penalty decision as defender seemed to very cleanly win the ball. They are the best side I’ve seen at NCP this season and I include Auchinlek in that as this is a different Kelty side to back at the start of the Scottish Cup. BSC were very well organised, pressed the ball superbly all night, comfortable on the ball and have a few serious pace merchants. Very impressed with them.
19. I thought I heard them announce it as 1,513 at the game.
