Watched King Kong on Saturday night. Thought it was an excellent version. I loved the way they gave Kong more humanlike characteristics, especially when he was laughing when pushing over the girl in the forrest. (also a kind of f**k you to the anti-evolutionists ) Cinematography and graphics were all brilliant and the storyline was good too overall 9.5/10
Was forced to watch pride and prejudice last night (the new one with keira knightley) She was gorgeous allowing me to give it 4/10

I'm going to watch Suspect Zero after Frasier.
Current IMDB rating is 5.8 / 10 which considering how shite it looks is slightly worrying!
Really? wow i would give it a 7 or an 8 (im sure i have rated it on here and maybe even gave it more)

Just Watched The Perfect Catch. the American version of Fever Pitch and to be honest it was gash. But then, it was a Farrelly Brothers film. Cheesy shite.
3/10
Is that the one with drew barrymore in it? if so its called fever pitch over here.
Anyway, saw Racing STripes last night, thought it was going to be all animation a la pixar but was more like Babe. Was quite funny in a childish way, 6/10.

I've seen it.
In the legally () released version, he goes back to his mothers womb and causes his own death as his existence was never meant to be, and that was why all of the trouble in his life and other peoples lives was happening. You can borrow my dvd if you would like to see it again.
It was a good movie, but utterly depressing from start to finish.
To go back to this (knew there was some confusion) the version i saw was the copy where he just went back and said not to talk to him again. *something i think is a much better fit) That was on TV here so is a "legal" copy so the "illegal" copy that was being talked about was probably the American version (probably because the UK version is too close to abortion for the bible belt people )

Watched Butterfly Effect the other day.........
Actually really enjoyed it. Had heard mixed reviews about it but it was an original idea and really good storyline.

If that got a 7 you would have to give SEVEN a 14. The Bone Collector is a decent enough film, but SEVEN blows everything else in this area away.
Watched some of FD2 last night - the crash scene was fantastic (the kids loved it too) and the way they eventually topped the guy in the flat with the escape ladder was class. Saying all that though, I only saw about half the film so I'll give it 3.5/6.
1) Id give Se7en a 10/10 but would give Bone Collector 8/10 (maybe its because i love films like that). The acting was good, it had Angelina Jolie, and was a good story line. What more do you want in a film? (would have got 10/10 had angelina stripped off )
2) watched all of FD2 last night. Agree with what your saying, crash scene was excellent i thought all the other death scenes were pretty good too, and the ending had a funny way to it, which made me laugh (something i enjoy in a "horror" film) id give it 7/10

ID agree with that. Also watched it last night, very predictable and maybe could have done with some twist like her father was organising it all. Also think Cillian Murphy (what a fucking stupid name ) is looking like a half decent actor, and played quite a good bad guy
The Bone Collector 7/10
ONly 7? ?

Watched Monster in Law :-
give it 7/10. Its a J-Lo film, with Michael Vartan and a few others. Was actually quite funny for a "chick flick".
watched 1/2 of Big Daddy today, 8/10, typical adam sandler film

Even though a "gay cowboy" movie didn't appeal to me I thought it must be good due to the rave reviews it received.
So I went with the missus who was dying to see it and to be honest i thought it was pretty awful.
Good acting by the two main characters but it was slow, monotonous and I lost interest after 20 mins.
Overrated.
3/10
Thats how hearing about it i will probably think of the film, but you never know. Im sure ill have to watch it with the missus as shes a huge Heath Ledger fan but not one to look forward to.
(its ok i put up with this she puts up with my scary/gory films)

Watched SKeleton Key last night. Was good, nice storyline, even although it was a bit obvious what is going to happen, but thats something a lot of films have. Also got to see Kate Hudson take a shower
give it 7/10

Was War of the Worlds. 8/10.
Good film, some novel ideas but also stays quite close to the original story line, especially the ending is the same. Did have the fuckwit tom cruise in it however....... hence only the 8/10

Why were more people in London not alive?
Why were more people not on the roads trying to escape?
Why were there not more people at the big hoose in Manchester?
Why did they say early on in the film that Rage had been found in New York and Paris then say later on the film that the UK had been quarintined?
Why was the jumbo jet flying over Britain? What flight path was that then?
Still, seeing Manchester in flames made up for all that.
1) If they were alive they were away by then. It was 28 days after it had happened.
2) There was maybe not enough people able to get there. As with 1) they would have been removed as soon as possible.
3) Just because some people showed signs in new york and paris, it is still possible that the governments were able to quickly quarantine them.
4) Jet flying over britain to check for survivors maybe? i presume there will be no"flight paths" at that time.

I just watched 28 Days Later. Another film I have had on DVD for absolutely ages but have never watched.
Very strange film indeed. Too many gaps in the storyline to make it even semi believable. Still a very good film though.
I loved the scenes in London when there was no-one else around. That must have been a very hard thing to achieve.
My favourite scene though must have been the one with Manchester burning. That was a fantastic sight.
7.5/10
First, what gaps in storyline did you have that it wasnt semi believable?
2nd, the scenes in London were done at 4 or 5 in the morning, and were very earie. I was living just outside london first time i saw it, so was able to walk around where they did after watching it. Very surreal. Agree it was a very good film however, but if it wasnt for those idiotic animal rights people ;)

Went to see Crash tonight (not the David Cronenberg one!)
Liked it, it is similar in structure to Magnolia and Traffic in that it introduces various characters of different backgrounds, and eventually their lives overlap. Mostly about racial attitudes in LA, characters are black cop, racist white cop, white DA, two black hoodlums, hispanic locksmith and Persian shopkeeper. And a chinaman.
Interesting to see how their attitudes change as the film goes on, down to the scenarios that arise. It's more to the point than Magnolia.
Overall quite impressed, well worth watching IMO. 8/10
I agree with what you said. For the persians main story line, (trying not to give it away here) it was interesting to see the attitude that people called him a b*****d in the cinema (out loud) but not thinking why he was persuaded to do what he did. I thought the black hoodlums were funny too.

I thought it would. I didnt like the first one as much as the story was way too far off from what the japanese version was. Kinda stupified the idea. Thought the ring 2 would be more stupid than interesting and a good story.

It was to show how peoples lives can affect eachother
i take it your not into your thinking films then?
edited to add to saltyton:-
I have seen the original japanese version, which goes more into the background of the video than the original japanese version. Was a very good addition to the film, but never seen the English language one which may be very different. THe ring wasnt a patch on the japanese version either so it may well be a ghostbusters 2

It was actually a remake of the longest yard ;)
Is that the Remake version or the original japanese version your talking about?

I actually quite like Leprechaun!
I think I rate it so highly as the original JP still ranks as one of my favourite films ever, and remains to this day the best cinema moment of my life. I was really disappointed with TLW, especially at the end when they turned it into a Godzilla movie, but I thought JP3 was great!
I pretty much agree. I thought the 3rd was better than the 2nd, and wasnt a bad film. Maybe not 8/10, more 6/10 tho As for TLW, agree that they made it into godzilla was a bad move. If they had kept to the book it would have been a good film, as the book was great
I think he was talking about the films, not what happened. Maybe open a political debate about it on another thread if you feel so strongly ?

Watched Crash last night in our $1 cinema
Its a film by the writers of million dollar baby, good cast including sandra bullock, Brendan Fraser, Ryan Phillipe and one or two others. Very much similar to Amores Peros showing how people are linked in various ways. Very good film with some shocking and funny moments.

Okay, it's fucking freezing and if we go outside for any length of time we'll die.
So, do we...
A ) Stay in this nice warm building which has fire.
OR
B ) Walk to our deaths
Only 4/5 out of everyone makes the right decision.
Also, the dad should have died hours before he reaches them, but doesn't... despite the fact it was him that said you couldn't go outside!
You dont know that you will die, yes some kid says you will but if you think theres more hope in leaving the place you will, instead of listening to a Kid.
The dad was wearing special equipment that would have allowed him to stay out in the temperatures, such equipment that he uses to walk around in the antartcic etc. Normal people wouldnt survive outside, but with the correct equipment you could
Talk about nitpicking :-
a) Most people seeing the movie wouldnt have a clue about that innacuracy and :-
B) Those that would have a clue didnt notice it (ie. me) so there would be very few people in the world that noticed that.
I thought it was a great film, and something that you never know, may infact happen in real life. Yes it is science fiction so im not saying it will, but there is a possibility.
Debbie, you were right

Think your being harsh here, was based on a true story so how is it americanised tripe? THought it was a very good film, and brilliantly acted by Cuba gooding Jr.
