  1. Is there a timeframe for completion? Given that we don't play them until the last matchday in late 2015, could that be the opener?
  2. Wonder what happens if it's a draw #scenes
  3. You're never going to have that money, or power. And the democratic deficit will always exist. The only political system that would actually get rid of those would be anarchy. All you're really choosing between is whether Edinburgh or London controls this. Let's not pretend there wouldn't be a democratic deficit in a lone Scotland, it's not like there aren't areas which influence the vote more than others. Plenty swing seats in Scottish elections....
  4. The voting system pretty much rules out UKIP being a major force. They'd be better off concentrating their fund on 4 or 5 specific constituencies to get a presence in the house, the same way the Greens did in Brighton. However it's very conceivable that they could outpoll the Lib Dems in terms of popular vote. The effect they will have is to split the centre right vote, helping the Lib Dems and Labour to win a lot f they key marginal seats and giving the UK a Labour government. Which is why the Tories want to agree a pact. They'll offer them a referendum on Europe if they agree not to stand in, say, 150 marginals across the country. Kinda works out for both parties. UKIP were never going to win those seats anyway, just accumulate a few thousand votes across the board, but they get their referendum on Europe and a chance to concentrate resources on a couple of constituencies(they'll want to get Farage and one or two other big hitters into parliament), while the Tories will have a decent chance of keeping Cameron in no 10
  5. 35% of SNP voters undecided. Seems surprising at first look, then again they picked up a lot of first time voters in 2011.
  6. I wasn't suggesting that whoever wins the most councils will win, merely that I'm interested in the geographical breakdown of the result. Fascinating, for example, that the areas that were most supportive of the Scottish parliament aren't necessarily the SNP heartlands.
  7. The votes will be counted council by counci
  8. One thing that interests me greatly is the geographical spread of the results Best guess Yes Aberdeenshire Angus Argyll and Bute Dundee City Highland Moray Na H-Eileanan Siar Perth and Kinross No Clackmannanshire Dumfries and Galloway East Ayrshire East Lothian East Dunbartonshire East Renfrewshire Edinburgh Falkirk Fife Glasgow Inverclyde Midlothian North Ayrshire North Lanarkshire Orkney Renfrewshire Borders Shetland South Ayrshire South Lanarkshire Stirling West Dunbartonshire West Lothian Too close to call Aberdeen City(Probably leaning yes, although I can't get away from the big city, unionism feeling) I expect somewhat of a North/South, rural/urban divide, and with the yes areas being fairly hard yes.
  9. Not posted on here for a bit but I'm feeling shitey again. Wasn't planning to go out tonight but tried to set something up impromptu when my early class tomorrow got cancelled. Got a mate on board and then everyone else bailed and left me in the flat on my own. I know it sounds like no biggie but I'm really bad for feeling unwanted and hate my own company. Just needed a place to vent.
  10. ^ too much shandy? Having a a wee existential crisis right now. I've blatantly failed my uni exams and apart from how upset my family will be I'm not sure what to do next. Really want to just sell everything I own, book a one way flight somewhere and see what happens, but again I don't feel mature enough to just bail on my family. ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
  11. Well, bummer, the last week has kinda contained everything that I expected to make me happier and in the end it did very little to improve my mental state. But, it's now 11.12pm on christmas eve, so for one night I'm gonna try and put my fail of a social life and my probable getting kicked out of uni to the back of my mind. Merry christmas lads
  12. I know this doesn't work in the referendum, but I don't understand why, in elections, they don't just ask say, a couple of hundred people in every constituency, that way you can quite accurately predict the winner of each and every seat, as well as the national vote. Surely if you could tell who was going to win each seat, then it would be easier than "assuming" that there was a uniform swing.
  13. Probably about right. I thought it was agreed upon that their methodology is flawed?
  14. Ipsos Mori is the microcosm imo, once they start to show a big swing, BT will get antsy
  15. I was really needing last night, I feel better now
  16. To be fair I think that the media's main issue isn't with immigrants per se but with unproductive immigrants who have chosen this country in order to leech from society. No one has any problem with immigrants that are happy to work and make something of themselves. Except maybe Ethnic nationalists such as the English Independence Party, who bizarrely don't actually support English independence, what they do support it "An end to immigration - except in very special cases, including the return to England of people of English heritage and descent. The removal from England of those who have no legal right to be here – including those involved in shame marriages." Why the hell would they want to force English people who have left to come back? O.o
  17. "Senior party official Kim Kuk Thae" Who is this bloke? Is it to be believed that some guy high up in the workers party just happened to drop dead right after a fellow senior ranking official is executed in bizarre circumstances?
  18. If anyone is genuinely offended by that then they need to get a life
  19. And you're using Andrew Neil's self-identification as English an argument for Indy?
  20. Hey man, I feel you here. My mates are all back in their respective home cities for the christmas holidays(I never got on with anyone from my hometown) and unless the guys from work are up for going to the pub, then I'll be bringing in the new year with my family. Now nothing against my family, but at my age it's not who you're wanting to spend hogmanay in the house with, especially when all the other cousins that are of a similar age to me are off doing their own thing. I'm hoping work are up for doing something and don't have their own plans.
  21. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you need to talk it out with someone, this is a really supportive thread!
