  1. Irrespective of how poor we were, I thought East Fife were half decent given their league position. It would be good if all refs booked the goalkeeper at the first piece of time wasting, as happened today. Definitely made a difference from there on in. Hoping this is a new directive for officials as you seldom see a booking for it.
  2. I’ve always thought that the phrase ‘denied by the woodwork’ was an odd one

  4. A few years ago a bloke stopped me on a back road in Dunblane, asking directions to somewhere in Falkirk. I told him he was around 20 miles away and he was clearly shocked, and was obviously running late for something. He said that his Satnav had brought him here - they were fairly new back then to be fair. It wasn’t till later that I realised he probably had input FK15... instead of FK1_5.. No road signs mentioning Falkirk might give you a clue I would have thought, or even just a bit of general awareness.

  6. I’ve always assumed that Roland Garros was a famous French tennis player from years ago. Not so. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Garros_(aviator)
  7. Firstly it’s donkeys then it’s hee-haw. That’s clever stuff, if intentional of course.
  8. Pronounced flee cemetery in the Ayrshire vernacular. A glorious thing when made correctly. ‘flee symmetry’ is the pronunciation of choice in Falkirk district.
  9. Tom Owen-Evans currently playing at Wembley for Hereford in the FA Trophy Final.
  10. I was at Larbert station in 1973 when the train started moving with the Mail ramp still down, apparently someone had waved the light signal to the driver. There were a few hurt, I know one guy who broke his wrist. I remember his ticket being passed on to sell at Wembley. Being quite young it was all a bit frightening - a bit like the game.
  11. Ironically the actor who played Randall died aged 45 and the Hopkirk one is still on the go.
  12. Last Breath - a documentary about a North Sea diving incident from 2012. Actual footage interspersed with commentaries from those involved. Fascinating watch.
