  1. 8 for Wed. Got both sports questions wrong. Landed random guesses on photographer and TV show, and a semi-educated guess on decade of independence for Barbados.
  2. 6 for Tuesday. Knew 4 and worked out Sarah Douglass book series by process of elimination. Guessed collective noun for emus. Aussie sport, Aussie politics and Aussie celebrities all wrong, an didn't get the densest gas giant.
  3. A stronger start to this week, after an indifferent week last week. 9 for Monday. Knew 8. Lake Toba was a guess, and got the Norm Smith medal (whatever that is) winner wrong.
  4. There's an error in the second part of the Cup quiz. There is more than one Guggenheim Museum. More than one option is correct here.
  5. Christ! Triple 9 on a rock-hard week. I'd need to be standing on the shoulders of Kevin Ashman to get within touching distance of that
  6. Knew 9, but scored 8 for Monday. Was confident on pato, then had second thoughts just as I was about to answer, and inexplicably picked the wrong option. Got Aussie sport wrong too, needless to say.
  7. Apologies for tardiness again. Busy week. Disappointing 5 for Wed, recovering to score 7 for Thursday, and a decent 8 on Friday.
  8. 7 for Tuesday. Was confident on 5, including, worryingly, the boy band. Never heard of Bohai Sea, but guessed correctly, and landed a random guess on F1 question. Aussie sport, Twister, and duration of Omar Bongo's Presidency wrong.
  9. 8 for Monday. Knew 5, and had a fair idea for Schindler's Ark. Guessed Rigoletto aria and TV show. Missed South Korean President and Aussie sport.
  10. Amusingly, someone had already entered my name into the 'Your Name Here' bit of the cup quiz. Wasn't me though, I play under an even more pseudonymous moniker than Frankie S. Nice try though
  11. 9 for Thursday, decent set that one! Got System 1 / System 2 wrong. Managed to guess sport question for a pleasant change.
  12. Had already posted my 7 for Wed the best part of a day ago, Cardinal. Maybe you just got confused by my uncharacteristic punctuality?
  13. 7 for Wed. Knew 5 and had a hunch on Space Shuttle Challenger question. Guessed one of Aussie sports questions correctly for a change. Not a Dylan fan, so got that one wrong, along with the second Aussie sport question and the actress.
  14. 8 for Monday. Knew lasagne, study of lakes / fresh water (came up in a recent quiz), Sophie Turner, Kant and Bhutan and was fairly confident on population of Russia. Was able to eliminate a couple of technology CEOs (who I knew were primarily associated with other companies) and landed a random guess on the pop song. Got both sports questions wrong, as is customary. P.S. Cardinal - don't mean to pedantic (though this is the quiz thread ) but am I not up to 15 second place finishes now?
  15. Mother 5/10 Enjoyed the first half of this. and was settling in for a claustrophobic home invasion horror movie, but it quickly degenerated into heavy-handed allegorical guff. What could have been a decent genre flick morphed into a self-indulgent fable. It's hard to resist the conclusion that Aronofsky takes himself far too seriously: investing the well-worn archetype of the tortured artist (assailed by, and dependent upon, his adoring public) with unsubtle Old Testament overtones came off as self-aggrandising. Michelle Pfeiffer is absolutely wonderful in this though.
  16. 8 for Friday. Didn't find it too bad. Knew Mt Damavand, Bay of Pigs, moon of Saturn (albeit by a process of elimination), Hodges, Latin phrase and artist. Landed guesses on Chess World Cup and Les Murray. Danish royalty and Aussie Survivor let me down. Unlikely to be enough to earn another second place, but happy enough with that.
  17. 9 for Thursday. Knew 6 for sure, and I'm almost certain I've heard the Baseball World Cup question before. Landed guesses on movie and novel series. Back to normal in getting Aussie sport wrong though, reassuringly.
  18. 9/10 but I'm claiming a moral 10. Got the Louis right, but wrong. QM is generally right, unless he's patently wrong, which is the case here. Had a strong feeling on Aussie sport for a change, I sincerely hope it was luck and not knowledge that helped me to the correct answer here. My consistent ignorance of Aussie sport has always been a reassurance in an ever-changing world. Guessed Aussie politics. Knew the other 7. Slightly bemused as to how the information that the right answer is 'wrong' should lead to quite so many correct guesses as to which of the 3 wrong answers is 'right' though
