  1. Larsson had a poor first touch, otherwise fine.
  2. I think we’re on the verge of being (relatively) tremendous. This is the best i’ve felt about the team for 20 years. We’ve got pace and technique right through the team. We’ve been a national of battling plodders for too long, and those days are over. Er ye are!
  3. Nonsense. More than half of the Scotland team comes from Celtic. It’s the non-Old Firm clubs that have the dodgy foreigner policy.
  4. “Coming through” we have Mctominay, Gilmour and Cochrane. The balance of probability is that they will be top class.
  5. we do have a top class centre mid coming through. We have two, possibly three.
  6. Undoubtedly we have a generation of players emerging who are better than before. If our best 11 now started the previous campaign we would have qualified. Croatia have a population of 3 million. Don’t tolerate negativity.
  7. If Gauld came back to Scotland he’d be one of the best players in the league. He was a skelf the last time and was still different class. He’ll be stronger and quicker now, and with more game intelligence - not that he lacked it. I hope he stays put, provided he plays.
  8. It’s too early for Gilmour to play a season of senior football. Physically he’s still a boy. He should aim for Chelsea u23s next season and then senior football the season after.
  9. It’s the best league he could be in until he gets a straight run of 40 games under his belt. He’s barely kicked a ball for a first team.
  10. It’s strange how Burke and Gauld are the top two threads at the moment. One, a player who can split a defence with consummate ease, and the other a permed whippet who will always out pace a defender. They could be a frightening combination if they can get their careers on track.
  11. Most of those appearances he got about 11 minutes.
  12. He needs games to save his club career, never mind international.
  13. He needs a run of 40 games. So does Gauld for that matter. It doesn’t matter too much where at this stage.
  14. because when he was at United he showed better feet and weight of pass than anyone in the previous 20 years. He’s likely to have improved since he’s been away, although maybe not as much as we’d hoped.
  15. I would say so. He’s filled out a bit.
  16. I think him and Gauld in the same team would not only work football-wise it would also save time switching between threads.
  17. It’s good on paper and could be good in reality, but we all have a gnawing doubt it will implode and we’ll be back to a four.
  18. Robertson can beat a man from a standing start and can drop his shoulder like a winger. He does it often. There are no guarantees against top opposition that he’ll get the chance to bomb forward on the overlap. Tierney is our second best player and needs to be accommodated too. He could play as one of three centre halves but not two. We need to try each at LB and LM and see what works out best. I still think Tierney is a more natural defender than Robertson - an attribute that is quite important.
  19. He’s certainly on the top 5 in the final third of the pitch. I don’t see why he can’ play wide left for Scotland. Some people say he can’t receive the ball on the half turn, but i think that’s nonsense.
  20. Robertson is terrific but i don’t think he's world class because he doesn’t have world class technique. To qualify, such a player must be able to make the crowd giggle in wonder in the same way a magician can.
  21. if we play a back three McRorie should be in that list.
