I was there. What a bloody stramash. Game of 2 halves - both pish. Cowden useless 1st half and looked dead and buried. 2nd half tightened up at back and McManus and Megginson had far fewer chances. Absolute heads gone from Cove with one of their players getting tore into the Cowden bench and officials. Awful, dreadful "football" but nice to see the Witch again.

Some pals and I sat at the awards wake / dinner and on the back of a napkin, detailed who we'd keep and let go. The former was a short list and had neither Smith nor Lennox on it. I desperately wanted Lennox to be better than he was when he came back but found myself conflicted, actually preferring Smith. There was a period where we conceded very few goals indeed - coincidentally whilst MacKay was at CH. But his mistakes have been excruciating. My shopping list for club includes 2 keepers, 2 full backs, 3 midfielders and 3 strikers as a start. Add a manager and assistant. And a decent shop. We can discuss the rest.

It was flatter than a witch's tit. Players were on an alcohol ban and are in for training at 9am today, apparently. Murray's award was biggest cheer of the night. Usual drunken chants of players names, eg Davo Davo, but they all looked like they'd rather be anywhere else, which is where they went as soon as the last chunk of etched glass was handed out. Framed signed Bayern top went for £550.

This ending was always on the cards. Further disappointment / amusement awaits. Try harder. Like we should have done.

Are we all cool about not losing anyone (Vaughan) in the window?

I'd vote for that. Easy changed if it's a car crash. Buchanan's passing and movement would certainly do a turn in there.

Don't get wrong, Smith gives me palpitations every week, but his (and the merrygoround defence) record is best in the league. I'd rather Lennox play but I'd rather we scored a few more. We've got the proven players but they're not delivering. Why? Midfield.

We've only conceded something like 18 goals. A good bit less than anyone else. We're not scoring enough and we should be. We're not using Buchanan properly, Vaughan has had to drop deep to provide anything so his goals have dried up, Barr has been unfit for months, Zanatta left just as his confidence arrived but at least Spence has found his. Furtado might do a job if he gets service but the problem remains in midfield. Vaughan can't carry the whole team and now that Robertson looks set to miss a few weeks we need a plan L (B to K having been used up). Surely time to release Henry from bench.
