one m in Motherwell replied to Rustybadge's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Big Sieb has to be up there - a very good player and excellently hirsute to boot. I would like to add: Colin O’Neill Steve ‘Supersub’ Kirk Said Chiba Daniel Sengewald Abel Thermeus - The Flask Holm Kraska -
Worst striker partnerships
one m in Motherwell replied to Sortmeout's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
That’s why it was such a pish partnership, I guess -
The problem with Kelly’s current state is that it clearly gives the folk in front of him zero confidence whatsoever. You add that to a defence that is full of players who aren’t naturals in the role they’re being asked to play, and it’s no wonder we are conceding soft goals most weeks. In patches last night (the first 20 mins or so, and when Vale and Devine came on) I actually thought we looked quite useful - some decent passing moves and everything looked quite fluid. We seemed to resort far to quickly to shelling long balls at Bair who only got more isolated as the game went on, you had Spittal and Paton dropping further and further back to try and force things rather than just concentrating on our own game. As many have said, we seemed to shite it from Morton and just couldn’t get over that. In terms of individuals: - Buyabu has a touch of the Gbolys about him - Vale and Devine deserve a start - Butcher is honking - Bair tried hard enough but needs support. That fucking Dougie Imrie song was doing my nut too, I should have stayed in and watched Seinfeld.

The worst thing is those daft wee socks footballers wear now. Theres a definite period that for me lasted from the 1990 WC through to about 2010 or so that just feels like a different world. So much opening up of football with the likes of the Serie A stuff on C4, the start of the Champs League, and that’s before you get started on stuff like Champ Man. The latter is I think part of the problem now tho, too much focus on stats and ‘data’ which I get have a place but it’s the way that this seems to be (essentially) the only type of reporting or discussion around football these days. All the chat about xG or ‘duels won’ sucks all the enjoyment out of it. It’s still 22 guys running about a grass rectangle trying to hoof a ball into a net. Doesn’t need to be over complicated.

If Halliday and Main come in, alongside Montgomery, I think I'd be pretty happy. As others have said, they are all low-risk options who will be a net improvement on the squad, in positions where we definitely need assistance. These three obviously to be joined by the obligatory Championship development side loanee, announced at 11:45pm on deadline day.

I guess if Montgomery is 'a thing' then it means there's no Penney or Furlong just now. It's a pretty low risk move as cover/competition for Gent, and if it fills a gap then so be it. All things considered I'd prefer us to try and develop Ewan Wilson into a long term LB option but I guess it'll depend how he's fared out on loan, I've got no sense as to whether he's on a Max Johnston-esque trajectory at the mo.

Couple of ways of looking at it. 1. All it’s meant to do is add a daft dimension to a process that’s already underway behind the scenes, inasmuch as it’s just saying ‘we’re open to investment’. That cannot be the sum total of our efforts so far… 2. We are a shower of complete muppets who believe that the way to unlocking investment is to dress Liam Kelly as a lollipop man. Why they didn’t do a version of the Bear with, er, Bair as Carmy Berzatto I don’t know. Also, is Mel B really one of the only celebs they could think of?
