Just out of interest how many players were furlonged - hopefully that saved us fortune so we can go on spending spree!
Good to see Methill's letting the town idiot use the libraries computer again. Mcnulty will be a belter of a signing for you lot.

We’d be lucky to make the playoffs with a Nelson- Dowds partnership. We need a proven goal scorer alongside Dowds, not a guy who scored 4 goals last season.
See this proven goal scorer malarky, do you honestly think we are going to sign a striker right now who in the last three seasons has scored 15+ goals? Nelson brings you a bit of dig, he holds up the ball and he can properly run the channels(not like Sammon) he was also becoming a lot more clinical towards the end of his tenure with us. Most dundee fans i've seen comment on him leaving would have liked him to stay but he's not good enough for Falkirk? Dreamland.

Anton Dowds signs for Falkirk, doesn't say on our website but i'm guessing it'll be a 2 year deal.

Good call, somebody's probably already asked you this so apologies for repeating but what can we expect from him?

With the position we are in we're most likely going to lose out on a lot more players than we sign this summer and it's a good sign we're trying to sign players that other clubs are also interested in rather than picking up some jobber that nobody else is interested in. There's a long time to go until October and in the current climate there's going to be a lot of players floating about looking for a club. It's our loans we need to get right this season, we need up and coming youngsters in on loan that are here to prove themselves not mcmillans or de vitas but that's all down to how good m&m's contacts are.

We haven’t got a lot right or soon for 3/4 years. We have missed our top striking targets, and football man to guide M&M so already behind where we wanted to be. I hope I am wrong but I worry about what is going to turn up this season in terms of quality. Young ambitious legs a must.Who we talking about here as I can only think of Declan Mcmanus?

It's probably 90% likely that everyone currently in contract renegotiations will re-sign with us as I don't really see many clubs being after the ones we are trying to re-sign. That being said I hope they've all been offered reduced terms so we can spend the majority of our budget bringing in some quality to our team as we're severly lacking right now. Lewis was trying to get out of m&m how much of a squad we'd have for next season but I'd like to think we'll have at least 20. So right as of now with everyone re-signed we'd have 13 players if we included Lee Miller as a player. That leaves us with 7 signings to make. A loan back up keeper, a right back, a centre back, a centre mid, a winger and two strikers please.

Would take Andy Nelson in a heartbeat. As shadwell has said towards the end of his tenure he started getting quite prolific. Pretty sure there were a few mumurs from Dundee fans about his behaviour last season off the pitch though so could maybe be his downfall.

Getting on a bit but good signing for this level.
Sounds like what we were saying last year with our signings. I'm glad we've 'missed' out on that one. Hoping for a wee pick me up Friday signing today but I think i'm being a bit optimistic.

New Durnan/Hall New Dixon
New Miller New Connolly

He needs a striking partner to get the best out him. Not only would he score more goals he would create them as well.
Miller will know this being a similar type of player and am hopeful of an appropriate signing.
He can have a partner on the bench to talk about how he's managed to steal a wage from football for all these years.

I mean we scored 4 more goals than anyone in the league so wouldn’t say a stingy defense was the basis of our success. We simply couldn’t turn up against anyone resembling a side that might not roll over for the full 6 months we played last season
Our downfall was not having anyone who could turn a game and unlock the door for us. Although longridge is very very frustratingly ballhoggy at times he did give us that so I don't understand why we're trying to sign up Telfer having let him go. Telfer's problem is he's one of those players that doesn't exactly fit into any position on the park. He's too slow to play outwide and too soft to play in the middle of the park.

I think that’s overstating the case. Raith and Falkirk were both teams with significant flaws last year. Raith’s, more so than Falkirk’s, was due more to injuries, but both sides had players in positions they simply weren’t suited for. Raith’s middle carried it, in much the same way Falkirk’s stingy defence drove them up the table, except against Clyde. What Clyde had was a player who is very clearly much above League One level, and that was the problem.
With M&M established and getting the players to believe in them, I would expect Falkirk’s defending to be the same or better. Of course, this year you’ll have Partick’s attack, as well as Clyde’s, to contend with, but I’d be highly surprised if at least the Clyde situation isn’t improved upon after seeing it last year. Surely Falkirk are nearly co-favorites for the League?
P.S. Any thoughts on Jamie MacDonald’s strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths: Experienced
Weaknesses: Everything bar being experienced

They have Ross Docherty and Stuart Bannigan currently signed up in the middle of the park, absolute powerhouse.
A goalscorers the hardest thing to find, Patrick already have Rudden, Lyons and Graham who are all equally capable of scoring 10+ in this league. Whereas we have Conor Sammon who scored 7 in all competitions last season and next up was Louis Longridge on 5 in all comps.

I’ll make my mind up when I know what our squad will look like.
Absolutely, lets wait and see if we sign the likes of Rafa De Vita's again before we start writing off our chances of having a proper go at this league. Should hopefully start the season with a squad of at least 18 then bolstered with a few loans. Daniel Mullen's just been released from St Mirren i'd take him but then again that may be a bit beyond us.

I want to see us pick up young players from premiership teams youth systems who want to come play first team football instead of lingering in the reserves ala Mark Millar or DKD but i'm very well aware for every one of them there's 3 Ross Perry's or Jason Marr's so it's quite hard to cherry pick. But look at Raith last season picking up Regan Hendry on a two year deal, I can't find any official stats but he definitely made things happen for them in the middle of the park. We are ultimately right now a stepping stone club so we should be selling ourselves as that to these sort of players.

I'd keep everyone apart from Telfer, there is undoubtedly a skillful player there but he's just too half hearted. Also we already have 2 centre mids without much pace so there just isn't any room for him.
I want to see us sign a McCracken type defender to play alongside Durnan with Hall 3rd choice, Dixon could also fill in if needed.
When was the last time Miller played right back in his career? I was always of the opinion he was actually a right back!
We tried to play him as a left back for a few games at the very start i'm sure. But I think after the second half of last year it's blatantly obvious he's best in the middle of the park. He knows when to step in and fill in the gaps at the back when we're caught short and he also communicates with everyone around him to make sure they all know who's doing what. Hence why he's now our captain.

Can't believe we're even contemplating giving telfer another deal. He was so ineffective last season apart from the very odd game. We can't afford passengers in a tight squad.
The only reason I can think of for giving some of them a new deal is to try keep some sort of continuity in the squad. M&M have already said they'll be looking for players that fit in well with the squad so Telfer may just be that. Either that or Telfer actually shows some sort of promise in training. We need to attack the league this year though, we can't be playing with Miller and Gomis as our two centre midfielders as they basically do the same job. Keep thinking back to the Raith game last season at starks park in early March where we needed to win the game to go above them and we played with gomis and miller sitting in centre midfield and 10 men behind the ball.

So assuming all of the players we've not already announced as leaving re-sign our current squad is below. I don't think anybody's looking in fear at that squad right now. We need a new everything other than a left back and a defensive midfielder. Does anyone know when the betfred cup is getting pencilled in for? As that's likely to be our pre-season.
Goalkeepers
Robbie Mutch
Defenders
Blair Sneddon
Ben Hall
Paul Dixon
Mark Durnan
Midfielders
Charlie Telfer
Aidan Connolly
Robbie Leitch
Morgaro Gomis
Gary Miller
Josh Todd
Strikers
Connor Sammon
Aidan Laverty
Lee Miller

I think there is a player in Telfer somewhere. It’s whether M and M can get it out of him.
Telfer's flattered to decieve for far too long. Last season he was non existent and if we can, we may aswell get rid. I'd be fine with Durnan staying as long as he's just back up reminds me of Johnny Flynn and that's not exactly a compliment. M&M obviously fancy Leitch to make an impact this season so i'd imagine we'll see him playing in the 10 role. Need at least 2 strikers in as we can't be relying on Sammon. Dowds would be a start and having watched a few highlights he looks like the target man type so we need to make sure we've got people up supporting him.
4-2-3-1 or a 4-1-2-1-2 for me this season.

Has there been any other rumours lately other than Dowds? Still waiting to see who we're signing up from the current squad for next season, Have I missed anyone from the below list for who's contracted to be here next season?
Mutch, Todd, Laverty, Leitch, Dixon, Miller, Sneddon, Gomis, Telfer, Connolly, Durnan and unfortunately Sammon.

I'll try going into William Hill because I don't have a mcbookie account

What's the best bookies to ask to give you odds on something they don't have any markets on currently? I have done the request a bet with Sky Bet but I don't think they'll have got back to me by the start of the season(friday)

I know you're only working with who we currently have signed at the moment but hopefully that won't be anywhere near the starting line up come the 6th of October. Miller will be in centre midfield and hopefully if m&m have learned from last season not with Gomis. I've not really seen much of Todd to work out what his best position is but i'm pretty sure him and Telfer are pretty similar in that they aren't fast enough to be wingers and they are too soft to play in the middle of the park.
