I would be looking to keep Mackie, as well as being able to step into left back or centre back I think he could do a job in midfield if required.

He looks increasingly comfortable on the ball and has provided a couple of great assists on the edge of the penalty box.

I wouldn't mind him staying but I'd imagine he'll want to play games which we can't guarantee and the last two years when he has had a run in the team he's just ended up injured.

Ross is out of contract, he’ll have no wages at all in less than two months time and Tait is a loan player. I don’t think any of them are particularly far fetched signings.

Both still have plenty to prove in their careers as well. The potential is clearly there, they now need to knuckle down to fulfill that potential and where better to do that than with a manager you clearly love.

I suspect McGlynn was meaning Yeats, Tait and Ross when he was talking about trying to get 2/3 of the current squad signed up again. Could have also been talking about Mackie or Shanley right enough but I reckon Mackie will move on for more gametime.

I've missed that. When did he say that and was there any indication of possible names?

No names or positions I believe it was on the Falkirk FC podcast. He said we had 14/15 already signed up, 2/3 of the current squad who we're still in talks with and then that'll leave room for 2/3 signings.

The only real position he mentioned was that they'd look at loaning in a young keeper again to fight for the number 1 spot with Nicky as that's better for the budget.

  4. With the expected departures in the summer Coll Donaldson will be our oldest player in the squad and he's only just turned 29.

Plenty of leaders in the team though and the youth for me has been a massive factor in our relentlessness this season. We quite literally run teams off the park.

Apparently we've signed Michael McKenna from Arbroath.

He is 33 now but still very happy with this if true

Said on the Arbroath thread a few weeks ago that would be a very strange move for him to make at 33.

Pretty sure he'll have his pick of the PT clubs instead.

So our plan now for the rest of season is to get Leon McCann a goal: I propose once Morrison is clearly top scorer that Leon becomes a penalty taker and try hard to get him a chance.

Or stick him upfront, MacIver centre back and Mackie left back.

What have you got against Queen's Park haha? I've personally always had a bit of a soft spot for them, due to their history. Their squad made up the first few Scotland National teams back in the 1870s, when they were the top team in Scotland.

I'd much rather see ICT go down than them, but as @RC55 FFCsaid, they'd probably win the play-off against any league one team.

Gretna 2.0 get them to f**k.

Who’s Ben Williamson, why is he going all Kevin Keegan in the press and why is “the most buzzing (he’s) ever been for a game” coming against a Falkirk side that have already romped to the title?

You'd have thought he would have kept quiet given a midfield 3 of Spencer, McGinn and Oliver dominated him in the Partick league cup game this season.

  9. Should really start by sacking the bawbag DOF that decided it was a good idea to claim you were signing 3 of our players in January. That helped fuel our fire.

Then there's the mental media posts you lot were putting out that made nursery macaroni art look like a banksy painting in comparison. That does appear to have improved lately right enough.

  10. Having watched a fair bit of the championship Friday night games I think we'll be just fine next season. Especially as we'll have retained the majority of our starting line up.

McGlynn will work some magic in the summer, Oakley always looked a nightmare when he's played against us in the past but the fact he's missed a good whack of this season injured would be a worry for me.

I think the option on Shanley will be with the club. Personally I’m not sure he’s shown enough to justify a deal. I would put the money towards a striker who can challenge Maciver.

Again I doubt he'll be on much money having came from part time at Edinburgh so I reckon he'll be here next season. Allan will have a host of options in the summer given his form which should allow us to sign another option to fight with Shanley & MacIver for the starting position in the team.

He's only had 341 minutes on the park with us and he's managed 2 goals + 2 assists.

I’m going to be in the minority here but I’m still not convinced that we should be offering Mackie a new deal.

He’s played very well recently, however, my biggest criticism of him as he can be a complete liability at times and I’d argue that even in these recent games he’s done things that show he still carries that trait. My concern is he’ll get away with these just now but he may not against better opposition.

I’m not opposed to him being signed on, however, I won’t cry if he leaves at the end of the season

He also absolutely loves an injury, pretty sure he was the same at Raith before he came to us.

Here’s a scenario where the wages were diverted from Yeats (likely leaving), McGinn, Lawal, Allan, Bisland and Long to be ‘reinvested’ in to keeping Tait and Ross. Shuffle the pennies around as well as the players. Worth a try.

McGlynn mentioned on the Falkirk FC podcast that they are still trying to work out deals for 2 or 3 of the current squad, I'd imagine that's Yeats, Tait and Ross.

Shanley was quoted as having the option of an extra year when we signed him so that'll most likely be taken up.

He also mentioned bringing a loan keeper in again next season to challenge Nicky for the number 1 as that'll help the budget so we may not be getting our experienced keeper.

John and Paul were on good form on the clubs podcast this week. They’ve more than earned their victory lap on this, FTV, FD, awards night, etc. over the next month!

McGlynn's post match interview on Alba against Cove was the giddiest I've ever seen him, I reckon he was at bongo's bingo before the game.

Looking forward to giving the above a listen.

    Right Back
With Keelan Adams on a 2 year deal the management team will expect him to be challenging for that position.
If we get Finn Yeats to sign a contract we will have for the first time for a while competition for the Right Back spot plus Yeats versatility for a midfield roll. Should we consider that position covered?
With few players incoming it would be good to have a long standing position issue off the list.
    Thoughts?

    YES
