  1. Wouldn’t disagree with that much, we were battered first half happy just to be in the game. Lot of wasteful long balls. 2nd half was much better when we got the ball down. Better finishing and we would’ve taken something from this. Awful 2nd goal to lose and that killed it.
  2. Only 18 plenty time to develop. Looking forward to the game see you soon.
  3. Would’ve fancied our chances before last week which was a shock, hopefully just a bad day at the office. Hows Dillon Young doing for you?
  4. Ref had nothing to do with the defeat today. We only have ourselves to blame awful.
  5. Apologies I should’ve phrased that better. I have no doubt should there be a WOS that clubs at the top will make provisions to be licensed. Anyway as pointed out we have a thread on the pyramid was not my intention to go in that direction. Merely pointing out the gulf will only get bigger every time Talbot are in.
  6. An en mass move means everyone has access the money would be diluted. Auchinleck have been in every year for as long as I can remember. Every year the west remains, the bigger the gulf. It’s like the Old Firm in the champions league argument on a much smaller level.
  7. Great to see some of the former junior clubs going for it and doing well, fair play to them freshened things up. Meanwhile the west juniors remain in the lurch pretending the junior cup is still the same. No wonder Talbot don’t want to leave the juniors, the amount of money they’re taking in recent years is only going to extent their dominance. No point in sharing that slice of the pie.
  8. Should have a look at Blobbys previous posts - all his stuff is literally trolling other teams nothing to add on his team (whoever it is) - what a sad existence.
  9. It hasn’t been stolen, it’s a groundshare. Enjoy your day.
  10. This argument over different types of artificial surfaces is ridiculous. You can literally play on a bowling green one game (thinking of troon or meadow as an example in past) then a quagmire the next (could list dozens). The difference between grass pitches and artificial is much more likely to determine the way a team plays. Sure there are differences with bounce on the astros but as mentioned doesn’t stop you getting the ball down and playing. Fwiw meadow never struggled with the bounce yesterday, your backline left huge gaps and lack of pace made a clip pass over the top between ur fullback and centre half (8 I think opposite gow) on all day. Unless the air is different density in Clydebank to Irvine
  11. Either way, the new surface is excellent for football and there’s no excuse other than being technically deficient not trying to play on it.
  12. Aye we’ll stick with the old Holm Park surface absolute cow field or a bigger, level turf field where good footballers can play. of course everyone would love to have the perfect grass pitch, but the surface is absolutely fine and definitely the future for most community clubs like ourselves.
  13. Struggled with the surface - it’s a beautiful big carpet to play on If I’m honest for an hour both teams cancelled each other out, football wasn’t great at all. But we slowly took control before the horrible injury (wish him well) and really went on the front foot after that. Brilliant win against a big physical side who looked full of confidence.
  14. To return to the original topic, yes I think there is definitely an identity crisis. The problem we seem to have now is going forward we actually have a lot of talent and players playing at a very good level. Defensively the team is really weak in every department. Without a decent backline the National side will continue to struggle. I do tend to agree young footballers are being brought up to try and be more technical. But from what I’ve seen play can be passive and then simply we have no defensive quality which id hoped steve clarke would’ve brought We do really struggle as a country to produce footballers from the ages of 18-20. The drop off rate is alarming, not just from pro football but so many just chuck it altogether. There is such a lack of funding towards this age group, football in this country is all focused on the mini kickers to youth. So with our lifestyle choices, the pool of players at the top level is fairly slim. I think it’s fair to say that the 19s 21s and senior side have all massively underachieved in recent years. Sadly the lack of vision seems to be affecting us.
  15. Excellent win today and a very good performance also. The new management team doing a great job, wasn’t that long ago we feared a relegation battle but a win next week we could be up to 3rd. The football is much improved and confidence is up. Great to see.
  16. Both were pens not really up for debate from me two poor decisions from us. Looked like we played really well actually, can’t remember a game we seemed to control as much. Maybe highlights don’t show true reflection but everyone I’ve spoke to said we should’ve got at least a point.
  17. In all honesty I didn’t think we were great tbh, in possession we really struggled. Defended well at the back but the whole game lacked quality. At the time, you’d just take the points.
  18. We got 91 on Sunday afternoon and the two Friday night friendlies we played (in horrendous weather) still got 60 and 80 odd. Lucky if we got double figures last season on saturday afternoon most times.
  19. Looks like everyone is in agreement it makes a lot of sense to have a West 20s league. Probably like it makes a lot of sense for a West league in the pyramid. Who will step up and take the lead...
  20. Some really good points above guys. So do we think the juniors old rules might be the issue here? Aren’t they aligning with the sfa though regards to discipline so maybe this rule will be also?
  21. Possibly a daft question here but what's the difference with the LL u20s league compared to the WoS u21s? LL u20 are not part of the syfa - 21s wos is.
  22. Dual contracts is not an issue we can currently do this with the syfa. Unless you mean the kick off time in which case you are right. In another thread the rules were looked at and there seemed confusion over it but someone did say that it is possible to apply.
  23. You could be right, I had a spell with Harestanes u21s in that league a few years ago and at that time I'm sure there were a few different ones. There's a thread on the Youth forum about a decrease in u21s teams in general. I'm sure most of them will have floodlit parks nearby as I'm sure the majority, if not all, will train on them. Plus most councils are installing them The biggest issue was cost to host a game on a Friday with Glasgow life I was told. 21s has went from 4 leagues few years to 2 last year. They done a east west split this year which makes it 3 but it’s still the same number of clubs. Eos 21s disbanded when the 20s came in and the north is u20 as well I’m sure it also finishes at U19s.
  24. This is correct, the u21 Scottish Cup is that league. It’s so fragmented now at the top level. Ive seen the standard at 21s and it isn’t great tbh. Albeit I have not seen as many games in the PL. I tabled a motion with the clubs to either create a new 21s league or change to a Friday night with the existing setup. Of all the clubs, kilwinning Clyde and gartcairn (along with ourselves) where the only ones to show. The status quo would not have voted for a change to a fri due to venue issues, but many liked the idea if that was an option to them. That’s why something aligned to the lowland u20 makes more sense to me.
  25. A few years have passed and the juniors situation has very much changed also. Would be interested to hear their proposal at the time what they had planned.
