  1. It has taken a long time, but a lot of young professionals have moved down there past 3-5 years due to the sky-rocketing Edinburgh house prices/relative affordability. Lots of new big fancy development as well (e.g. the Ropeworks). A walk down Leith Walk these days, at least for the upper half just now, sees lots of artisan cafes and bars. This will only accelerate once the St James Centre redevelopment completes and the trams are extended to Newhaven, both of which are well under way.
  2. Has to be Hibs. We are owned by a US television tycoon (Ron Gordon). One of the biggest and oldest clubs in Scotland. Largest premiership stadium outside of the OF and highest average attendances in recent years. The beautiful Scottish Capital's only Premiership club. Leith, where the club is based, is a very much up-and-coming area/becoming pretty trendy. You can visit one of the two Michelin Star restaurants at the waterfront whilst you are there. Famous past with players such as George Best having graced our team (ha). Our badge is a thing of beauty - signifying everything we are as a club in terms of our heritage and our present. Our next season's strip has "Thank You NHS" on it as the main "sponsor", which has been hailed up and down the UK. We have a healthy rivalry with Hearts in the "Edinburgh Derby" which is by far and away the second biggest fixture in the Scottish calendar after the Old Firm derby. Great matches to attend. Might be a few years though. Rangers FC hate us more than anyone else bar Celtic. This is as ringing an endorsement as you can get. A good enough team that you will get to see us go on a little European jaunt every couple of years (some very short mind you...don't look for the Malmo game please). We recently won the Scottish Cup and c.10 years ago the League Cup...so decent recent returns. Have the best club anthem in Scottish Football with Sunshine on Leith -
  3. Spot on. After the Golden Generation, we have been painfully unproductive despite spending more than probably any other club outwith the OF on our youth system. Needs to be overhauled as return on investment has been poor.
  4. Heart of Midlothian Football Club taking a global pandemic to court. If they seek an interdict on resuming the new season, they should be expelled altogether from the Scottish Leagues for bringing the game into severe disrepute. Their conduct throughout this sorry episode has been nothing short of an embarrassment to our game.
  5. Here is why you are completely wrong about that: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36999758 None of our chairwomen or chairmen have made consistently snide, smug and condescending remarks such as (and yes, these are direct quotes by Ann Budge in 2016): "I think 42 senior clubs is too many for Scotland". "You're looking at about half that number". "We're not throwing people to the dogs and saying you don't matter. We should be saying this is what will work better for you, what fits your profile." Those kind of comments remove any form of credibility behind any of her demands. A mere 4 years ago she was all against expansion because she looked down on the so-called "smaller clubs" when Hearts were a mid-table team. The crass smear campaign she is trying to run behind the veil of altruism is a complete sham and 62% of clubs have seen straight through it. At least if St Mirren, Hamilton, Hibs, Aberdeen, whoever were giving this a go, it wouldn't be so exceptionally hypocritical and therefore actually semi-believable.
  6. So by your logic, if Hearts had finished say 11th, Ann Budge and every single one of your supporters would be saying "We will fight tooth and nail to reconstruct the leagues to save St Mirren using bribery/emotional blackmail/aggressive smear campaigns purely because it is the good thing to do". Good one. The worst part of all of this is Hearts fans insisting they wouldn't be acting in self-interest if they hadn't finished 12th - you are actually one of the very few clubs who universally insist you aren't, which is incredibly ironic. Down you go.
  7. Seeing as Hearts are willing to do anything to save the game, and that it was the Premiership who gunned down her various proposals, maybe Ann Budge can aggressively pursue/bully/intimidate/bribe her way to a 12-team Championship to save Partick at least? It is the moral thing to do.
  8. As level-headed and rational a post as you will see from someone who's club has been relegated before the season ideally would have finished. Fair play to you sir. Many of your fellow supporters should take note.
  9. The 5-1 game would have been re-written in the history books as 10-1 and Craig Levein would have 20 medals added to his total haul.
  10. The BBC's Political Correspondent chipping in Philip Sim @BBCPhilipSim Replying to @PeatWorrier Looking forward to a Scottish court setting the stunning precedent that football teams should look to avoid losing most of their games if they don't want to get relegated
  11. 16 clubs from 42. 62% of clubs didn't even want to give the ludicrous proposals a look-in. A complete and utter trashing of the idea. 62% represents the beauty of democracy in action. We have seen multiple democratic votes taken by our various leagues and the results are as clear as day and transparent as is possible in the world we find ourselves in. The legal case can well and truly join Heart of Midlothian Football Club in the bin. I know it hurts, Jambos. We find ourselves damaged as well by the outcome - being expelled from 6th place to 7th place and losing £££,£££'s in the process. I know Hibs are willing to take this on the chin and I hope you can in time too realise this was the best and fairest outcome. Enjoy the Scottish Championship (whenever that actually occurs).
  12. I am hearing that 5 SPFL clubs are set to kick this one out of the park. My money is on: Ross County, Hibs, Aberdeen, St Mirren and St Johnstone.
  13. Ross County are a definite NO (god bless them). That means Heart's hopes rest on Aberdeen (very iffy), St Mirren (very iffy), St Johnstone (very iffy) and Hibs (exceptionally iffy) all voting in favour. They are toast. I would absolutely love it if we cast the deciding NO vote. Love it.
  14. I am assuming clubs who are relegated next season (and so on and so on) can put in a legitimate claim to reconstruct to e.g. a 16-team league or vociferously threaten legal action? I mean if finances/necessity to release players due to COVID-19 has unlevelled the playing field between "smaller" and "bigger" teams, then surely if a "smaller" team faces relegation, have been unfairly disadvantaged by COVID-19 like Hearts are whaling they have been? Then we could eventually end up with a 42+ team mega league.
  15. I never said I was banging the drum for Partick. I am saying I still feel sorry for them but it is too late now. Pet Jeden: the man with an IQ of a ham and white bread sandwich.
  16. Hearts for starters agreed to end the season. They literally would be suing themselves.
  17. Partick are the one club I genuinely feel sorry for. They have been relegated with a game in hand and two points off safety, so out of every club who has been "hard-done-by" they are the number one candidate to feel aggrieved. Their statement "which club would find it acceptable if they were in our shoes? Not one of them" is ultimately very true. But the timing of this is utterly rotten. They have sat on their arses for 3 months now and not said a word, letting Ann Budge make an utter pig's ear of the league reconstruction proposal. Why have the flipped from accepting the outcome with grace and dignity (which gained massive respect) to this grovelling mess when they have tried NOTHING to save themselves until now. It is too late. The game must move on and move on fast.
  18. 2nd time I have used this Gorgie, which is apt as this is the 2nd time you lot have been relegated in 6 years! Hopefully the Championship forum appreciates your word salads as much as we all do. x
  19. Thank you St Mirren for being to Hearts what we have been to Rangers in recent years. Wonderful work. Thank you for John McGinn as well (I never have said this before, but very much worth throwing in).
  20. Notice how the common Hearts supporter always skips replying to the question on what legal challenge they think they have? Complete smoke and mirrors. Get them relegated like they deserve and allow the rest of us get on with much more important things.
