Even if that's the case. There has to be more to it than simply allowing Club 42 declare a preference.

The HL have just set up their pyramid with the Midlands included and Brechin City are already in the HL. Changing where Club 42 goes doesn't impact that.

Changing the rules so that a club can express a preference could be taken as meaning that any club could express a preference as to where they play regardless of the line.

Is it possible that such a rule change could pave the way for Brechin to express a preference to play in the lowland league next season?

Very true. I feel like I'm missing something really obvious here.

Edit:I probably need to remind myself who can and cannot get promoted to the highland league this season.

Now Bo'ness are extreme longshots for promotion my interest in this topic has dwindled considerably at least until this time next year but judging from what is on the geneal chat LL thread I had managed to overestimate George Fraser's competence level when I wrote some of the above posts.

Ploughing ahead with colt team entry before the SFA had actually had time to fully sign off on it appears to have opened the door to having all sorts of pressure applied to finally have the Tay Bridge midpoint line of latitude boundary removed from the Club 42 playoff rule. Who knows, Brechin City may yet be making an appearance for 2022-23 from stage right?

The tail normally isn't allowed to wag the dog within any hierarchical organisation.

Lochee might want to chuck in at tier 6 in the eosfl too?

The Highland League, as well as the SFA and SPFL support the principle of clubs being allowed to express a preference for which league they are relegated to if they are Club 42. The initial proposal was that Club 42 chose their league but the SLFL negotiated that they could only express a preference and the decision will be made by a joint meeting of the SLFL, SHFL, SPFL and SFA. The conspiracy theories that, for example, Elgin City had a right to play in the SLFL (if relegated) are utter nonsense.

The stories about the league being blackmailed and the OF being booted out if we don't agree to the changes are rubbish. I am astonished at the anti-democratic stance taken by those opposing change, including two former Board members. They want to dictate where clubs go whereas the proposal allows clubs to express a preference - and the SLFL to say "no".

Why is it important for clubs to express a preference? Who is asking for it? Which clubs might it impact.

we can dance around this, but unless Forfar, Montrose or Arbroath would prefer to go lowland then this argument is pointless. To me, anyway.

Them and a few others are out of  their depth in the Lowland league and until they change the one relegation spot these results will continue making level 5 of Scottish football a laughing stock

To be fair, the pyramid has brought more than one league like that.

When VOL get relegated, I suspect they’ll have another relegation next season.

Hopefully some pressure is exerted to get at least two relegation places from lowland league from next season.

Amazing how quickly Fraser has tanked the reputation of the league and his club so he can sit next to someone in an Old Firm tie and hear "nice wee club you run here George"

That’s one of the things I don’t understand. I thought GF was one of the good guys but he’s turned into something very different.

I guess its possible. It's Broomhill and EK in the Chair and Vice-Chair roles. Pretty sure the rest are from the more traditional EoS/SoS background if I remember right. There might well be contrasting opinions on things.

If it's true i'm sure we'll hear about it soon enough.

Might be helpful to have a chair and vice chair of clubs that have existed longer than five years, haven’t changed identities, and own their own grounds maybe.

Yes your right though there's always an element of the unknown as it would be new to any club entering the LL.

It certainly intrigues me how Talbot would do given the way they have built over time and have had continuous success in the " juniors" if they didn't replicate that immediately within LL.

The unknown for me is whether Talbot actually want to be on the lowland league. No local teams little established rivalries.

I think they’d be stick on favourites to win though if they were in it this season.

This.  It's almost as if it's a vehicle to get a certain person an SFA blazer, he's got his foot on the first rung.

Their few supporters on here have also disappeared.

I could be wrong, I’ve been wrong and disappointed about GF with regard to the colts, but I don’t think that’s what is happening here.

    but

I don’t see how BSC Broomhill Glasgow Alloa are sustainable in their present form. Once their funding supply is cut, as it must be at some point, the house of cards collapses?

They do, the issue around them now is around their influence on the pyramid.

Go all the way back to 2018 you had that list of pros/cons on joining the pyramid. One of the things being looked at was to increase the movement between the Lowland and T6. That hasn't happened.

If anything by simplifying they've made it a little more restrictive. As the LL relegation rules circa 2018-19 would have seen Vale of Leithen relegated in 2020-21 with the 16th place being open to application.

There's been nothing to stop the LL opening up two promotion spots from Tier 6 using the existing LL Pyramid Play-off from this season. Instead they decided to bring in Colts, back the SPFL reconstruction proposal with the permanent introduction of 'B' teams, and paid lip service to those below Tier 5.

As for the suggestion of a LL2 that's just the same LL blazers trying to save themselves and not about progressing the pyramid.

If BSC wherever they play now whatever they are called now, Cumbernauld Colts, Caledonian Braves or East Kilbride had to win the wosfl, then a play off v the eosfl to keep their place in the lowland league I’m far from convinced any of them would be able to. That suggests to me there’s a lack of mobility in the pyramid.

We were never at the races yesterday. We just looked devoid of ideas.

I'm not sure what's happened this season but when did we abandon actually passing the ball in favour of the continual long ball from the back completely bypassing the midfield.

The squads at least 3 or 4 players short at the moment so I don't really understand why we've let players go out on loan.

Not naming a full bench this early in the season raises a few eyebrows for sure.

  13. Big test v bsc broomhill glasgow Alloa on Tuesday. They look weaker this season but have possibly had a better start than us.

wasn’t there yesterday, the most surprising thing for me was shipping 3 goals - that’s not happened much in the last few years, which shows just how high the bar has been set. And probably wouldn’t have happened if Al Horne had been playing.

An expected tough match last night in which I thought we had the better chances. Good to see a good number of Rose fans there. We’ll take the point and move on to another tough away day on Saturday when at least the temperature is forecast to be cooler.

    C’mon The Rose 🌹🌹🌹

Surprised we left the subs so late, it was a hot boy last night. Sending players on with ten minutes to go, you’re lucky if that’s five minutes of game time when Cumbernauld were running down the clock. The subs barely got a touch.

Yes in the pyramid but start at the bottom like every other new team.

This is certainly my position, and generally the position of people I know.

There's a very real perception of damage done to the credibility of Scottish Football by allowing them in at tier 5, over other more deserving teams. They've gained a place in a league on the back of the support of clubs less than ten years old who happened to be in the right place at the right time to get into tier 5. That said, the juniors only have themselves to blame for their lack of engagement earlier which would have made this all moot.

If the players are going on loan to semi-pro clubs, then there's absolutely no reason why they can't train with their main clubs during the day and then their loan clubs midweek, particularly when most semi-pro teams train in the central belt anyway.

And they do continue to train with their parent clubs in most if not all cases afaik.
