  1. Precisely. Can you imagine the reaction if the kit makers turned up at Ibrox with the wrong shade of blue? Similar to the lack of knowledge of the club's history that resulted the MacIntyre/ Dodds fiasco last year. Just one more way it seems the powers that be don't get it. Or don't give a hoot.
  2. The fact we spent that amount of money to make the team worse while being unwilling to meet the fee for Shankland(fair enough maybe he didn't want to come) says everything about the total ineptitude of those running the club in the last few years. With any half decent manager this should have been a great season - if any post relegation season could be. If we were anywhere near close to pushing United Dens would be a place you wanted to go on a Saturday, but on the last 2 weekends I've been delighted that a game has been called off and relieved that the cup game wasn't on the season ticket. Looking at Tannadice today (fairly full even though it's live on TV), an obviously decent atmosphere against opposition from the league above, and compare it to Dens last night with the same formula. I don't blame McPake, I blame those who' appointed him, they may well have ruined his career before it started, and the way things are going what positives can anyone find for the club as a whole, other than the fabled Camperdown move?
  3. Apologies for pished and depressed post. That being said, I stand by every word. [emoji107]
  4. What is there left. No right minded person would pay to watch this indescribable crap. Nelms the destructor.
  5. Rare that you witness an entire team hiding from the ball.
  6. Aye, and we paid for it.[emoji16][emoji16] In our all time crock Hall of Fame he must beat even Colin Cameron, and whichever of the Youngs was theoretically on our books
  7. I'm not a neutral and I thought it was hilarious. Actually if it gets McPake out the door the utter shambles that it was might prove a bonus. If it had stayed 1-1 it would have been all dressed up as the team "showing character" and "keeping going right to the end," not forgetting "I couldnae ask for any more from the players", all of which would have been total pish.
  8. Reactionary nonsense anyone??? [emoji16][emoji16]
  9. Hardly matters really though does it? When it's so easy for your rivals to point out the ludicrous nature of an appointment the initial job description or when it applied to is splitting hairs McPake was a decent servant to the club, but as a player was hardly Jim Duffy. The nature and timing of his injury was and is difficult to talk about. He went flying into an ill advised tackle and the nature of the pitch and his physical condition resulted in the horrific injury suffered The club stood by him, all of that is laudable. What is not laudable is promoting someone beyond their abilities too soon, thereby ruining the club's short term prospects and the short and long term prospects of the employee. Again in not having a go at McPake, I'm having a go at whoever appointed him. What would have been the reaction if we'd appointed United's youth coach?
  10. I must say I've never been on a United thread, why define yourself by what you're not? Might as well be an old firm fan.
  11. The Comical Alis seem to be thinner on the ground than they were 2 weeks ago, and I should say that I, like everyone else on here, hoped the appointment would work out. Turn it round for a moment though, and think what you'd have been saying if McPake had gone from youth coach at Dens and suddenly been successful in landing any other managerial job in The Championship. You all know that while wishing him all the best you would have found their recruitment process sadly lacking. Imagine United had appointed James McPake from being youth coach at Dundee, makes it all the more ludicrous. I'm not getting at McPake, I'm getting at Nelms who has yet again made an arse of it, and, if he performs to type will let this run until the atmosphere is so rotten that the season will be beyond saving.
  12. So at the moment if we score from every shot on target we'll struggle for a goal a game. Much as the gloater a few posts above may be infuriating, I'm afraid he's pretty much hitting the nail on the head.
  13. The thread through all this is these disastrous appointments and the amount that has to be spent cleaning them up afterwards until the process starts again. Someone posted a stat last year saying we were paying or had paid off about 20 players who would still have been theoretically under contract. At the same time the figure at Kilmarnock was 2. Maybe something will click with McPake but his post match comments smack of self delusion, I'd much rather he admitted we had no idea how to break down United and that, more importantly they have arrived at a system which allows their quality players to influence the game. Our supposed quality is being failed by the system and rendered useless. Hope he turns it round, but if he doesn't, and we keep repeating the process by which we've arrived at our recent managers things will continue to get worse.
  14. I'm as entitled to my reactionary thoughts as you are to your sanguine ones. I see nothing here, or in the season so far that suggests we will coast into a play off place and emerge from the process successfully. I've seen this twice before and seen the effect it has had on the club. Another extended spell in the second tier is not something to be accepted with a shrug.
  15. United miles better again, just wait and these gutless wonders will cough up a couple of goals. Every instinct in that team is to slow it down, strange when all that does is give you more time to see how shite they are. United will finish 15-20 points ahead of Dundee unless something radically changes. Dundee will struggle to make the playoffs and if they do they will get nothing out of them.
  16. We did not "play good" in the Derby, we got bullied out of it and roundly shafted, much as we did in the last 8(eight) minutes of this game after the subs were made. If McPake is not to blame who on earth is? Jeremy Corbyn?
  17. Utter nonsense. We have "the best strikers in the League" but play only one of them, the one who can't score. This is not improving, they're a soft touch and there is no point investing in a squad when you absolutely won't invest in a manager.
  18. Want a real laugh? I was born in December 1965. I am told that the first thing I watched on TV was Celtic winning the European Cup in 67, and so enthused was I by this that I became a Celtic supporter, much to my staunch Dundee supporting dad's horror. Every time Dundee played Celtic after that it seemed Dundee pumped them, the more Dundee won, the more my dad was on at me to support Dundee. My Dad's team. My hometown team. The team that always pumped Celtic - after which my dad would wind me up until the next time Dundee pumped them. My last day as a Celtic fan was the day of the 1973 League Cup final when, as always - and as my Dad foretold to my sorry 7 year old ass, Celtic got pumped by Dundee, who won the League Cup. "Son, you should really support Dundee you know." "Okay Dad." So went the conversation. The day after Dundee won The League Cup.
  19. Watching Dundee play football and Scotland play rugby is like drilling your own teeth without anaesthetic.
  20. This is grim. Half the points of United much nearer bottom than top and Palmerston to come on Friday, where we always do so exceptionally well. Injury to Dorrans and crisis at Dens would be the normal progression now. What a shite club to support. [emoji53].
  21. Sad to say it but he's got a point. McDaid so far is the biggest flatterer to deceive. Lots of pop star pish but I don't remember one decent cross since he's arrived. And for one final time I hate that blue. It's as far from a Dundee blue as it would be from a Rangers blue. Can't believe we accepted it.
  22. McPake just about read out my earlier post, which gives me no pleasure at all, but at least he's telling it like it is. Looks a bit of a broken man though. No point having 3 great strikers if you're going to concede in that manner again and again
  23. No pont crying about the ref. With that keeper, defence and midfield we'll struggle to make the playoffs. All we have is route one. United streets ahead.
  24. Until it got forced on us at the end of the Aberdeen game, when it was also a total and utter failure. 3 at the back coming up....
