  1. I know James Graham pretty well. He was mostly on the bench for Annan and as you said played out wide a lot. He is a decent young striker. Can play anywhere up front, wide left, Right or centre forward. Has lightening pace and a great pedigree. Loves a ball in from behind. I reckon he will do well with us if we can hit some form in time for the play offs. Prior to signing for Rangers as a 16 year old in 2020 he had trials at both Liverpool and Man utd. Liverpool wanted a 2nd look at him then Covid hit so he couldn't get back down. That's when Rangers offered him a 3 year deal.
  2. I see there is a proposal.from St Pats to take over the running of East End Park in a 10 year lease which WDC is recommending as a money saving measure. That would be a potential blow to the current Dumbarton utd and Riverside teams that train and play on it. This made me think what a demand there could be be for our own 5G at the Rock and get better tie ins with local youth football. If only our board would apply for grants such as the £175,000 ear marked for development of East Park instead of kidding us on we need to build houses on our car park to fund it.
  3. What happens if your barcode doesn't work for some reason. There must be someone there to help. So surely there should be someone that can help folk with no clue about barcodes and mobile phones get in by taking money and printing off barcodes. Not doing that would be poor tbh.
  4. I think Frank Meade has left the club. So no point in emailing him.
  5. I'm actually not that sure we can afford him even on loan so will maybe not happen.
  6. 10 of us getting the train down. 1200 on sarurday from Glasgow central gets you to Chester for 1546. Checking into a hotel in Chester then 36 minute train to nearest train station in Gobowen followed by a 2 mile taxi journey. Back up next morning on the 1036. The train isn't that expensive and all in including our overnight stay we're just under £100 a head. Although still got local trains to factor in.
  7. Actually I'm not sure it's illegal once you're over the border. My understanding is the ban of booze on busses is for travel to football games within Scotland. Therefore my assumption is that it would not be banned when in England. Furthermore if there was a bus going down staying overnight that was not going direct to the game then that bus may completely exempt. Of course I may be talking absolute crap but worth checking out.
  8. I thought the scarves from the club were £9. I know if you order online they take a fiver delivery but I'm sure we have a stock in at the stadium.
  9. I've already had my rant on face book. I'll just paste it straight in here: "What's the best way to get through to those idiot directors that they are in danger of alienating fans with their pathetic attitudes. That's quite a few things this season and they are tallying up. I'll go public with this statement that our public relations have went backward since Alan Jardine has left when I saw his departure as an opportunity to engage with fans and embrace them more. It would seem we have serious dinosaurs on board now that a club like ours can Ill afford to carry. They need to realise that fans are the lifeblood of our football club and treat them with respect they deserve.
  10. Not sure I would be so confident. Gilbert Lawrie was instrumental in both appointments and is sadly no longer with us. I can't see another gem been unearthed next time.
  11. I may have missed something here but it wasn't about cutting costs it was the increase in costs that caused the debate. So making the argument about how many more people we need if costs were reduced doesn't make sense to me. Unless the clubs model for the increased prices is tried and tested which I doubt it can be. To me it's just finger in the air stuff and trying to squeeze as much as we can. At the start of the season the club hadn't stated which games would need to be all ticket so I'm guessing they weren't sure, so how can there be a costed strategy that we need to adhere to? Maybe the club hazarded a guess but there would be various unknowns. One thing that has seemed to backfire is the reduction in season ticket sales. Add to that the expensive pay at the gate price and our home fan base will almost certainly be down which is a shame. I'm guessing the st.mirren game will have an even lower home gate due to the ticketing arrangements and prices.
  12. I'm not too worried that Stevie will be wanted by either club or would even want to go, it's the knock on effect of these vacancies that's more worrying for me. If for example the St.mirren or Morton jobs were to become vacant I'm sure Stevie would bite your hand off for them and I'm sure both of these clubs would bite your hand off for Stevie if they ended up with a managerial vacancy.
  13. Fair play to the club. Those are really decent prices. The kids under 12 for free especially. Although for younger kids a night game might not really suit but it does for us older kids. I'm really looking forward to this. I'll print off they posters as well and display them in the notice board at work. That's quite a good shout from the club. Hopefully the attendances can start to creep up again with recent results on the park and some improved PR. No locks in on sat[emoji6].
  14. Falkirk have just sacked Houston. I hope they don't have their eyes on Aitken.
  15. Over the last 2 seasons we had a scout, Stuart Millar, who is now with Stranraer as of start if the season. Stuart was recognised as chief scout whilst with us so I would presume there were 1 or 2 others who Stevie had take in games. I would be surprised if he didn't have teams watched.
  16. I see young McCorie is starting today. What a change from the type of games he played in end of last season. Is this another indication if our ability to aid development of players?
  17. What date was this game? Was it the boxing day defeat at Firhill in 1983? I recall being at that game. At that time it was probably only the 3rd or 4th away game is ever been too. I recall Thistle winning took them top of the league. Whereas a win for us may have seen us going top. In the end Thistle fell away badly that season with us and Morton going up. It was that season as a young 11/12 year old boy that I finally got hooked on Dumbarton. It was such an exciting season where we played some great football.
  18. Do you mean you're 'not' aware of any other club who 'do' provide it routinely?
  19. Yeah nice one from the club to put that story to bed. Big Dods making a bit of a fool of himself there it seems. Apparently there's a theory that the guy that got sent off may have tripped the switch in a temper. All in all Brechin not looking too good in this at all. As far as I can ascertain the provision of food for away teams was stopped when we were promoted to the Championship as many of the full time teams take there food science more seriously and what we may have offered might have not been to their dietary requirements. Obviously big Dods a bit inexperienced here and things must have moved on a bit from when he was a player. Big diddy!
  20. The prices are dear but I think you must have been overcharged there.
  21. I can't believe folk are on here again questioning Stevie Aitken learning from experience, etc. Given our low budget and part time status he continues to work miracles. Not only keeping us competitive but keeping us up against the odds. Yeah, once again this year our squad seems a little fragile. However we're 7th and I see no reason Stevie can't get the best from the squad to keep us up again. Taking into account all the off field problems we have as highlighted by oki3 it is a miracle we continue to stay up each year I honestly think that the success we've had over the last 6-7 years is mainly due to 2 good managerial appointments and we have done well despite our board and much disliked owners Brabco. This will all come crashing down sooner than later but I doubt it will be due to Stevie Aitken. The way the club is currently been ran off the field has to take it's toll soon and is unsustainable. Maybe Stevie will walk sooner than later as I doubt he will be too pleased by the way things are been ran e.g scrapping the youth set up without being consulted, etc. I do struggle this year to like anything about the club other than the team and manager. I am embarrassed to read about dodgy showers, etc and all the so called small safety related changes are a complete joke and I don't buy that they are required in safety grounds. Absolute tosh. In the situation we are in the club need to engage with fans and be a proper community club whereas there's one bad decision after another just now. The prices are disgrace. Anyway I know we're all entitled to opinions and all that but some on here do seem to have very unrealistic expectations.
  22. As far as I know. That Saturday was a free Saturday as it was an international weekend and the club are trying to utilise the function suites appropriately. I dont know specific details but it's no different to what happened a few years ago with challenge cup 1st round games when we moved some games due to weddings taking place. To be honest I think the chance of a Friday night game adds a wee bit of something different and I am happy with this. Much rather this than an early or late ko on saturday that we are sometimes forced due to tv scheduling, Etc.
  23. What a weekend this will be. Scotland at home to Slovakia on Thursday, sons at home Friday followed by Scotland hopefully qualifying for the play offs on the Sunday. Can't wait. I'd love to get a run in the cup. Whilst the league is by far the bigger priority. I'd love a crack at a final of a national cup competition even if it is for lower league teams. We'll maybe never get a better chance.
