  1. FWIW here is the draft of the SGM letter. It won't make anything clearer but my reading is one vote on part (i) and if that is YES , then a further vote on part (ii) BUT it could be read as just ONE vote. The next part simply follows on from that. It may have been carefully worded to confuse folk after a heavy lunch. Sneaky bastids. Having said all that, the word 'vote' does not appear anywhere. Subject: SFL Special General Meeting – Friday, 13th July, 2012 Dear Sir or Madam, NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING – SCOTTISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE Notice is hereby given that a Special General Meeting of The Scottish Football League will be held within the Bell/Baird Suite on the fifth floor of Hampden Park, Glasgow on Friday, 13th July, 2012 at 11.00 a.m. for the purpose of considering and, if thought fit, approving the following proposals:- (i) That the Scottish Football League Members agree to admit Sevco Scotland Limited as an Associate Member and agrees to permit Rangers F.C. to play in the League during Season 2012/13. (ii) That the Scottish Football League Members direct the Board of Management of The Scottish Football League (the "Board") to provide that Rangers F.C. shall play in the Third Division of the Scottish Football League during Season 2012/13 unless the Board shall have to its satisfaction negotiated and reached agreement with The Scottish Premier League and The Scottish Football Association on a series of measures which the Board shall consider to be in the best interests of the game, how it is structured, how it is governed and how it is financed, whereupon the Board shall be authorised to provide that Rangers F.C. shall play in the First Division of the Scottish Football League during Season 2012/13. (iii) That the Scottish Football League Members in terms of Rule 12 approve the resignation of either Dundee F.C. or Dunfermline Athletic F.C., whichever shall be admitted to join the Scottish Premier League for Season 2012/13, such resignation to take effect as at the date of admission of such club to the Scottish Premier League, notwithstanding that the requisite notice under Rule 12 shall not have been given.Details of the series of measures referred to at (ii) above shall be made available to the Members in advance of the meeting and an opportunity for full discussion of those measures will be given prior to the proposals being put to the meeting. In accordance with the terms of SFL Rule 53, your club must send one representative to this meeting and I would be most grateful if you could advise me of the name of your representative by return. A buffet lunch will be served at the conclusion of the meeting. Kind regards, David A. Longmuir Chief Executive, SFL. ETA Hopefully someone simply asks ' how many votes?' before they start.
  2. Call me a cynic but rules are drawn that way deliberately so that in case of an unforseen eventuality, (e.g. the biggest, bestest most powerful club in the entire world going bust) they can be manipulated to suit. And not just in football.
  3. From the BBC Syria: Annan holds 'constructive' talks with Assad What's going on? Does Thommo know?
  4. I will stick my neck out and say this is pish. If they sign Aluko I will eat Jambo-something's hat. (Can't remenber which Jambo it was, can't find it in my posts.)
  5. I agree. They can't have it both ways and neither can we. New club, clean slate. However, if they INSIST on keeping their old name and that they are the same club, then it's a different story. Old club , old sanctions, old punishment. More punishment, flog 'em!
  6. Wullie, I know you have posted in this vein before. Would you please post a quick summary of what you would like to see happening and how it could best be attained?
  7. Just been thinking about this again. If anyone DOES think it's a good idea to attend this match to protest, just do it without further publicity or organisation. An "ambush" protest would have more effect . A few chants of "We are Turnbull Hutton" would not go amiss.
  8. You probably won't get a lot of disagreement with your basic premise. Remember the initial idea was simply to put a new club called Rangers-is-us straight back into the SPL. No non-hvns wanted that. From then on we have been at the mercy of high level machinations. We can only do our best and hope for the best.. And this is what I think of 'hope' In reality, hope is the worst of all evils, because it prolongs man's torments. ~Friedrich Nietzsche, ETA split infinitive, Star Trek stylee
  9. I only voted once. It was about 27000 at that point, mid morning. Thought it may have gone higher. Still good.
  10. Good morning. This is off-topic but interesting to all pc users. I was reading a BBC news report about cyber crime. They printed this link to check for a particular virus. It only takes a couple of seconds. This is the BBC news link http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-18735228 This is the virus checker http://www.dns-ok.lu/
  11. This thread has slowed considerably recently. Roll on Black Friday. One way or another, one step closer to the endgame.
  12. So far, none but we are being advised by certain people that Sky will cancel or not renew upcoming deals if Sevco are out of the picture. Well, that's my understanding of the situation. Perhaps you have another view. eta link to mad leggo http://leggoland2.blogspot.fr/
  13. There is a post on gersnet claiming that many ex-rangers fans are cancelling their Sky subscriptions as a means of showing their anger. I believe it was suggested on here that non ex rangers fans cancel their Sky subs. Two opposing viewpoints with the same outcome. I wonder if Sky is actually seeing any change and if so how can they tell which faction to blame? eta just realised it's from Leggo.
  14. that senile auld yap McPherson What if the taxman has something to say between now and Friday the 13th? He's been awfy quiet of late.
  15. Calm down. I saw that, it's just a news agency thing. It could just as easy said soimething like 'LONDON Manchester ' for a story on Manchester drug gangs. Even the yanks don't think London is in Scotland.

  18. Just been thinking about this again. If anyone DOES think it's a good idea to attend this match to protest, just do it without further publicity or organisation. An "ambush" protest would have more effect and prevent the local plod from getting overtime.
  19. OK, point taken. In "normal" circumstances it is acceptable, then something like this shitstorm brews up.
  20. Sounds like a silly idea to me. Easier to "influence" 8 than 30. But then again, maybe that was the original idea. I keep forgetting the machinations that go on in clubs, societies, associations etc. Lots of doublethink, which is often beyond me.
