people need to vote with their feet over pish like that

I tried to apply for the fan card but they blanked it. Overall it might be the most cynical ticketing strategy out there. I agree fully, f**k them!

Psv seems to be a pain in the arse unless you want to pay about 90 euros for a daft tourist package.
Was at feynoord end of last season for a dead rubber against sparta rotterdam and it was a doddle getting print at home tickets. Might be more tricky for a higher demand game but certainly not a problem for a non resident unless they sense a chance to over charge.
Will drop you a pm if we go to a Dutch game and let you know what the score is for tickets. Going in late September.

Thanks. I'd seen the Eindhoven 'packages'. A rip off and it seemed like you had to include a message pleading why you deserved them. Can you just buy online for most clubs that don't sell out. I thought you had to buy a fan card which limited you to one team?

Not sure about the broader league but Feynoord was a simple online transaction with no hint of the fan card pish, and of course they're known for being somewhat fighty so I think that's just a stunt from psv rather than any sort of legal thing tbh. I've looked at a few Dutch club ticket sites and psv are the only one that wants you to do all that pish so far. There may be others trying to coin it from tourists but the fact they want to sell you thirty EU of merchandise vouchers stinks to the high heavens and tells you what really lies behind it!

Was at leverkusen v stutgart last season and quite liked it plus very easy to get tickets.
Arriving and departing from eindhoven but getting the flixbus into dusseldorf on the Saturday morning. Still deciding on a Dutch game on the Friday and Sunday.  Maybe den bosch on Friday and feynoord on Sunday but playing it by ear.

Sounds good. Have contemplated switching our usual Düsseldorf trip to Eindhoven but was always a bit wary of how easy it was to get tickets for Dutch games as a non Dutch resident. Any ideas?

I've been 8 or 9 times and only ever been in the terrace. It's usually almost full and so getting a decent vantage point with loads of flags being waved often isn't easy. Have you been to Leverkusen before? When are you arriving/ departing and what other games are you going to?

  5. Enjoyed the Den today although I'm not sure it delivered even a fraction of the Free Tommy style Gammon I was anticipating. Lots of people with council looking tats saying cant a lot though. Good atmosphere overall and a rare treat watching a championship match in a well filled stadium that suits the size of the support.

Duisburg are my favourite German team and going to the MSV arena is a good day out. The atmosphere is always lively but attendances are usually around the 13,000 - 14,000 mark in a 30,000 + stadium.

You can either get the train to Duisburg Hbf and get one of the hundreds of buses they put on to get to the ground or get the slower S Bahn train to Duisburg Schlenk and it's 10 mins walk from there.

If getting the bus back to the Hbf after the game, be careful which bus you get. Most go to the station but some go to the northern suburbs. A couple of people I was with last time found this out the hard way

Flixtrain only seems to offer tickets between major cities.

Cheers mate, quite looking forward to it, probably more so than the bigger game later. Kind of regretting not getting tickets for the standing area now though.

  7. A pretty sorry state of a division in all honesty now but that's not really the fault of the remaining sides and I'm sure that although the prestige of the division / region has taken a hammering the feeling of winning it will still be fairly sweet as will the carrot of Scottish cup qualification for someone who might not have been in the running previously.

If the clubs were smart about it they could retain the West of Scotland cup as a cross association cup, still giving it a nod to the junior days etc.
Could Talbot get floodlights in btw? Or is there issues with the neighbours?

Not sure about the floodlights thing tbh.

I'm sure it was mooted as a possibility a few seasons ago and I don't think there were red tape issues just that the cost was prohibitively high for all they would be getting used.

It would take someone better informed could clear that one up for you though.

    Yes 100%.
Also agree, pretty reasonable, means those who want to can stay junior.

It's still going to mean changes but that's preferable to watching the remainder of the Junior grade going into palliative care.

Looking forward to seeing how this develops. the west really needs to get it's finger oot.

I'm not saying there are no pro-pyramid people who are disrespectful to juniors, but it happens on both sides. There was some great excitement in the juniors today, last week and other recent weeks, I'm the first to admit that. But I do get annoyed when some of the junior fans say that this kind of excitement is something exclusive to junior football, as it happens at all levels. That's why I replied previously to you in the way I did. You said you'd miss this excitement, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that it would ever disappear from the game so no reason to say you'll miss something (excitement) that's here to stay in non-league football.

to be fair you're not wrong.

I think it's natural to lament the decline of this particular form of the game though as there are defiantly certain characteristics that won't survive the eventual transition even if other better aspects replace them. It's a hard thing to quantify, more of an emotional thing than anything else really.

Out of those three tweets by ScottishJuniorfitba, one is definitly a lie, one is more than likely a lie and the other one happens at every level of football.

If you're looking for someone to argue with you in defence of RRG you have gravely misjudged me!

I haven't seen any of his tweets, but having met Robert and appeared on his show I know of his passion for Junior football.

Of course it is a touchy subject, it's a massive change in how non league football runs in this country.  I feel however it could all have been avoided if TJ had been more inclined to engage with members about pyramid etc years before.  Let's talk about that elsewhere.

As such it has come to the clubs in the East making the bold move.  I can understand why emotions are running high but once it all settles down hopefully all the good will between clubs built up over a century will redevelop.   I can foresee all the clubs being in the pyramid in a few years time anyway so with any luck it can be done without anymore vitriol.

In respect of RRG his attitude of stamping his feet and going in the huff while ranting all over twitter doesn't do anyone favours.  This split has reminded me of a political campaign, good guys on both sides, and a sprinkling of arseholes on both sides.

In time let's just hope football is the winner and all the rifts heal.

RRG is a notable example of the other end of the spectrum on this debate. A walking, Tweeting disaster of a man. Best ignored as the moon howler he clearly is.

It's not really strange given that your beloved 'grade' is sloughing off clubs on a weekly basis while its circles the drain of Scottish football.  That's the reality of your situation and no amount of puffing yourselves up over a couple of games is going to change it.

    ^^^^

A notable example of the kind of pie I was describing earlier.

  14. It's strange that on a Junior forum, on a thread regarding the future of the Junior game, the notion of talking up the grade after an eventful couple of weeks attracts the level of sneering it does unless you qualify it with some self evident pish about other grades having the same thing.

I doubt anyone if more in favour of a move towards a pyramid as myself but you have to wonder at why being a wee bit sorry about the decline of the grade is such a touchy point for folk.
