  1. You just know that Barton was keeping tabs on that match hoping there'd be a clanger so he could make that post. Couple of brilliant goals in that game, too.
  2. On Steve Clarke, it may not be most people's metric for success, but look at the crowds going to Hampden compared to the previous couple of decades and it's clear that Scotland fans are behind Steve Clarke in a way that other managers never really had. Compared to casually checking the score and seeing we're already two down to Kazakhstan, he's got me excited about Scotland again, so he's a clear success in my book.
  3. Morton are quite an obvious target for Thistle fans, with them being a similar club who are reasonably close to us. St Mirren should be the same, but it feels we've been ships in the night for most of this century. We had that title race with Morton ten years ago which really ramped things up, then you've got things like Brian Graham and Robbie Muirhead loving to score, and frequently doing so, against their old clubs. It's also easy to play up the stereotypes, with Ton fans all being junkies, and Jags fans seeing half-times as a good opportunity to read a couple of chapters of Proust. Oh, and Dougie Imrie.
  4. Surprised so many people have Hibs above Hearts. There's very little between them for me, and on derby days I don't care in the slightest about the result unless it impacts other events. The rest is pretty standard. With regards to the Old Firm, over the last decade there's probably been a bit more to despise about Sevco, but at least their fans know they're the bad guys and don't pretend otherwise. Celtic fans seem to think they're actually paragons of virtue and don't believe that diddy teams' fans could genuinely despise them.
  5. Despite today's result I felt pretty proud to be a Jags fan today. Thought that was an excellent turnout and I hope the ladies enjoyed their day regardless of the scoreline. That goal was a special moment. In other news: Rangers died and The Jags survived.
  6. Absolute League 1 level tin pot behaviour running out of hot food within minutes of half time. Aye, McBeth was surprisingly good for someone who's recently made such a big jump up. Must be strange for him going from the West of Scotland league to the world's greatest club. That's Disney stuff.
  7. It's bad enough when fans call players by their first name, but this "Memphis" nonsense from a national football governing body is tinpot in the extreme.
  8. f**k. Just checked the listings and you're right. Thanks for that. That's what I get for trusting Flashscore who said TV/Live Streaming "BBC Scotland, Viaplay". I was in a pub playing BBC Radio Scotland over some foreign channel for France vs Scotland years ago. We heard the McFadden goal while Gordon still hadn't taken the goal kick. Very bizarre celebration.
  9. Got a long voice message from my boss last week. Very dry and boring management stuff for minutes until it ended with an impassioned: "What a fucking day. Someone shat in their hand, put it in a bin and then wiped it all over the fucking walls. Kept shitting themselves all up and down the corridors." It was some lass in her twenties who denied it, despite staring straight into the CCTV during the act.
  10. Timely thread as today my parents asked me if I would be willing to have power of attorney. You're recommended to have two, so it will be me and my brother. Imagining the shite that will come our way when our two sisters find out we were chosen over them is bad enough, if the will isn't evenly split (which is unlikely, but not Darvel beating Aberdeen unlikely) then I'll just use my share to get the f**k away from it all. Mate of mine's mother died when he was a teenager. Used the money to put a decent downpayment on a flat which he fully paid off when he was about thirty. Some of his friends still tell him he's a lucky fucker. Aye, really lucky he lost his mum whilst still at school.
  11. People who talk about accounts with blue ticks or check marks on X/Twitter. They're white FFS!
  12. I once watched Palestine away against Kyrgyzstan. Think it was 2-0 to the home team. Good atmosphere.
  13. Not Brazil, but the other week a guesthouse decided to hang my laundry up on the razor wire surrounding the building.
  14. Have I missed some stereotype about nurses being easily scared?
  15. Do folk think we'd be better playing downhill in the first or second half?
  16. Is this sort of thing covered by the Freedom of Information act? I think we have a right to know.
  17. No, it was one with no structural integrity. The sides came apart from the bottom so it all spilled out, and it was actually a bit undercooked. The gravy wasn't that tasty, either.
  18. I realise that games on Astro are postponed occasionally, but I don't think that's down to poor maintenance as was claimed, just adverse weather conditions.
  19. Largely agree with that. McGuigan is excellent, Telfer does a good job, Sked has grown on me, but Fowler is heading for the People you Dislike for no Real Reason thread. It's like he has an unearned smugness about him, if that makes any sense. Borthwick is good, I enjoy Anderson on it, but maybe he's an only every now and again type, Canavan is usually passable but had an absolute mare the other week. I think the programme in general is very good. The films are great and break up what would otherwise probably be too much faffing about in the studio. I don't listen to podcasts, so its a good way for me to find out about interesting goings on in other divisions without trawling through dozens of match threads on here. When it comes on after the Championship TV match it makes for a great Friday night of Scottish football to get you excited for a pumping away to Inverness or whatever the next day. Never seen Open Goal. If it's 70% Old Firm then I doubt it's for me.
  20. When was the last time a match was postponed because an artificial pitch wasn't maintained adequately? To frame the issue as "just as true" for both surfaces seems like your already acknowledge bias coming through.
  21. That's nothing, last season a League 2 match thread went 40 (forty) pages before a ball was kicked.
  22. Having seen the delicious and disproportionate reaction by some Morton fans, questions must be being asked in Championship boardrooms around the country about why their ground staff haven't been moving the hoardings in, too.
  23. It proves that "a" grass pitch, singular, can be well maintained. Other pitches have issues like drainage and shadows causing problems which are peculiar to those sites and don't exist to the same extent at Forthbank and cannot be simply solved. Forthbank is generally a lovely surface, but to imply that all other clubs need to do to replicate it is give their pitches the right amount of love and attention is giving your ground staff far too much credit.
