    Last year it was

    1 at home to 2 and 4

    2 at home to 3 and 5

    3 at home to 1 and 4

    4 at home to 2 and 5

    5 at home to 1 and 3

before that 2 was always away to 1 but there was one large "unseeded" pot so not as easy to work out

With that format Hamilton score and get 3 home games.

No one however has to go to Hamilton twice which will be a bonus for the other teams in the group.

A split could be fixed to give them what they want.

There is a way to do this, without a split and in a way that gives Sky the 4 games they really want as i would imagine it will be a long time until one of the old firm finish out of the top 4.

Everyone plays everyone twice for a total of 30 games

But you also play those who fell into your band of 4 from the season before another twice during the season (once in each half) to add on another 6 games, in a way almost a handicap system which could give a bit of churn in the league placings. You could even start with 3 rounds of the banding games and have the reverse games around Christmas and New Year.

Taking the season just past the bands would have been Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Dundee United in one group, Motherwell , Ross County, Livingston and Hibs in the second , St Mirren, Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Dundee in the 3rd and Kilmarnock, Arbroath , ICT and Partick Thistle in the last if the league of 16 had started based on last season final positions.

The advantage for the fan would be that all 36 games dates (Subject to TV) would be known at the start of the season and the promoted teams would have a chance of staying up as the games from their extra group of 4 would be a lot easier than say Dundee United would have found this season.

I’m quite enjoying hearing at every turn about how Big Ange really “gets” the club etc. It just reminds me so much of the pish they used to spout about Rodgers shortly before he fucked off to a bigger club. Scenes when Postecoglu  jumps ship for Bournemouth or wherever in the summer.

Can you give me this weeks lottery numbers please.

The play-off winners get to celebrate in front of a board, which for the Premiership side is fairly tin-pot even without a trophy.

I can't seem to find one for Motherwell in 2014/15 (maybe there wasn't the usual post-match stuff because of the aftermath?), nor St Johnstone in 2021/22 (maybe they realised last season how tin-pot it is?).

There certainly was no board last season. At full time the players did a lap of the pitch and left.

Confirmed that they will play out of Dumbarton’s stadium for the next 5 years.

Is that not a very optimistic time frame for this.

Will be comfortably the biggest ground in the West of Scotland Premier league in time.

Sadly the league table sums up just how tin pot this league is.

3rd place loses almost 5 times as many games as 2nd place and the best of the rest can't even make it into plus goals.

Servette qualified for the champions league this season as runners up in the Swiss Super league drawing more games than they won and coming second with a goal difference of only +5

Hamilton's twitter account may be a bit tinpot but they're on that list of teams in the U18 league.

What's more tinpot is that St Johnstone, Livingston, Kilmarnock and Ross County aren't

In our case not selected, in part due to Geography

We are stuck at the level below , winning the league below on Friday evening and then the cup on Sunday at 17's for the second year in a row.

all 3 of the Perthshire EoS teams in the top league, good few derbies for each next season, hopefully with healthy crowds

From chatting to a local referee at the Kinnoull game last Tuesday this could cause an issue for the local amateur leagues due to the increased demand for assistant referees

Hopefully there is a crows boost, Kinnoull v Luncarty in April had around 4 times the normal numbers for a standard league game.

And Hepburn, we need the next Sinclair going through the loan system but further up the tree for when Ross is sold for millions.

Id say another year at Luncarty would be a good move

next season they will be playing in a very competitive East of Scotland Premier league and the full Scottish cup.

With Kinnoull and Jeanfield also at that level this may work out as a good place to loan some of the players in the awkward 18-19 age range.

You'd be surprised or maybe not how many times my handle becomes the topic.

Thought I would get it out the way pronto and then can have an adult-ish talk.

Had a thought when reading the comments 're sizes of each division.

Why does every game need to mean something wrt promotion/relegation.

Fitba is an entertainment and most attending fans love their own team and would watch them play in their back garden.

What is wrong with mid-table teams in a division.

Some will after a few seasons of stability be able to challenge for European places and all that it brings. Some will fall and maybe even get relegated. Surely it shouldn't affect the thrill of watching your team. Also more clubs to visit and be visited by making new friends/enemies along the way.

Personally can watch a game in a local field and still enjoy it without needing it to mean something.

I personally go to around 100 games a year , with around 50 being in the pyramid at levels 6 and below

From the spring when picking a game i select a game that means something to one of the teams. An 8th v 10th in one of the East or Wesr of Scotland leagues will not be of interest unless its a new ground or the only game on that night. Now ive completed the Midland league with 19 teams its the same.

yes you are correct in that the core of fans will go every week but a standard Dunfermline v Falkirk match will not get the same crowds that all 4 games got this season. There is a danger that bigger leagues will result in smaller aggregate attendances across the 42 teams in the league

the story I heard and I don't know how true it is.

jeanfield management work commitments are getting to much to balance the two apparently jeanfield have been wanting the luncarty team for a while but they couldn't leave with the team doing so well.

That is also what ive been told by someone ITK .

The intention may have been to wait until the season was done but it is now for Jeanfield but a few big games for Luncarty.

The Jeanfield manager may be moving to a director of football role .

Luncarty will be an attractive proposition for a good non league manager.

To be fair, Montrose Roselea joining doesn't change much. With 19 clubs one team is idle each round. The only real difference is that with 20 teams nobody will be idle anymore. But in my opinion, more games should be played midweek early in the season.

Short of starting the season even earlier or playing 3 games a week i cannot see how the teams can play any more midweek games early in the season (Those without floodlights)

If i remember correct by the 5th midweek of the season most teams had played 9 or 10 games, which is 1/4 of the season.

More teams with floodlights would help.

No programme tonight for the play-offs is ridiculous, but sadly expected.

Can you imagine the quality updates you would have got from Pat Bonner last night, firstly he would not have been able to find the ground as he sat nav is just following a Celtic supporters bus and secondly he would not have known a single player on the pitch at any of the games, "the boy a has played the ball to the boy b"

Of course he would not be available as he would have been doing his homework on players who may play against Celtic in next seasons Champions league last night.

  14. I went to Lochore v Preston Athletic last night which finished 1-1

An entertaining game as Lochore battle relegation cutting the gap on Coldstream to 3 points with Lochore having 2 games in hand.

Wednesdays game with Whitehill might be vital for Lochore as a win there pulls Whitehill Welfare back into the relegation fight, conversely an away win should just about make the visitors safe.

I think to get something like that off the ground you realistically need something to aim for:

Expanded top flight, definitive no to B teams, fairer financial distribution of funds throughout the SPFL? It also needs to be something fans of most clubs can agree on and unite behind.

You wont get everyone to agree to most of that.

I certainly dont want an expanded top flight, 12 works fine and if you expand it the drop to the second level would be catastrophic.

Man of the match was the Lochore keeper Dale Wotherspoon(sp?). He got his ample frame behind everything thrown at him and his handling, including cross balls, was excellent.

You are spot on there, he also had words with some of the local school kids who came on the pitch at the end and were trying to wind up the Bo'ness players.

He a good keeper and great at winding the opposition up during the game.
