Do Raith Rovers hate being called “Raith” the same as we hate “Partick”?

Doesn't really bother me. I've yet to encounter anyone in conversation saying "you going to the Raith game at the weekend/how did Raith play?", maybe other Rovers fans have but amongst my group of pals we just call the team the Rovers, "you going to the Rovers at the weekend/how did Rovers play?" or my personal favourite when my wife wants to do something "nah, ave got the Rovers the day". As much as I think someone saying "you going to the Partick game?" doesn't sound unusual I'm guessing it will to Thistle fans. I see most opposition fans on here calling us Raith mind you, doesn't bother me. I think Albion Rovers got a bit miffed in a cup game this season when our Twitter admin called them Albion, pretty sure their own admin replied saying something along the lines of "just call us The Rovers thank you" 😅

Scottish Championship: Could Raith Rovers beat Dundee United to the title? - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67641066

"The Kirkcaldy club, who welcome Partick Thistle to Stark's Park on Friday live on BBC Scotland, have the chance to overtake league leaders Dundee United for the first time"......were we not top going into the Airdrie game that we lost?

The last time i was there, was under gary fucking locke. 2-2 after being 2-0 down. I think scott Roberts and Kevin mchattie were the scorers, with the latter being an absolute screamer. I can also remember mckinnon getting it tight from our fans 😂

First goal was a belter as well.

Likewise last time I was at Tannadice was the 2-2 game and prior to that would have been the win in 1996. Where's best place to park? Got a ticket up at Dens last season when parking on a side street which stewards openly let me park in and said heehaw 🤦

It is, and there's been bits doing the round where he's got photos on social media of him over in Northern Ireland and with staunch paraphernalia.

This obviously bothers you, maybe you should have a word with the boy and express your dismay to him and maybe make him see the light 👍

Does a guy posing with UDL flags wearing a Rovers jacket not bother you?

Think the flag owner may have been one of the originals with a ‘reminiscent’ flag. I’m sure it relates to that rather than anything more sinister.

Of all the flags this boy could think of getting made up to take to the football in 2023 it's a flag with Derry - "aye but, that was oor gangs name in the 70s and 80s eh" - written on it whilst posing with UDL flags during a game against Cliftonville. Boy sounds like an absolute rocket, 'Rovers fan' or not.

The ‘Linktown Derry’ is a flag very much from the past. back in the 70’s /80’s this was the name given to the local links street gang that ran about the area acting the tough nuts. They are from the days of supporters changing ends at half time and all you seen was the stoor blowing out of the railway shelter as they passed each other with arms and legs swinging at each other as they passed. Think the flag owner may have been on of the originals with a ‘reminiscent’ flag. I’m sure it relates to that rather than anything more sinister.

Never knew that. Wonder why the boy holding the flag in the recent Inside Matchday video is the same boy holding a UDA flag in the picture a few posts up 🤔

Maybe.  O'Neill that signed is Irish.... (Don't get me wrong, and no disrespect to the player, but I certainly don't condone that one being in Starks either for being the other side of that sickening coin!).

The Polish flag is brought for big Kev....

Incidentally, there is precedent for flags being banned.  For whatever reason, and I am NOT getting into the politics of that one, the Palestinian flag seems to be banned at all UK grounds.  The UJ we probably have to put up with due to unfortunate political circumstance therefore it IS a contentious flag in Scotland, especially after 2014.   However with its being pictured and the clubs name being associated with an Irish terror group would suggest the club should be distancing itself from it.

Also a flag stating the word Derry on it has obvious ties to the Northern Ireland issues, and is further contentious by the term 'always fighting'.  Are these the same muppets that caused issues with the Motherwell fans, and on a few occasions the Dunfermline fans?  Walking down the street with that flag alone can therefore invite the attentions of other club's bampots.

The club need to at least be discussing how they can sort this out as the obvious attempts at associating the clubs name with one side of the Irish troubles, and all the negative connotations that has are VERY apparent.   Do we have to wait till their is violence either caused or reacted to by these muppets, and innocent Rovers fans being injured before steps will be taken?

You're a bit late to the party with all this. The picture you posted is from the Cliftonville game and the UJ flag has been at most game this season with no troubles.

  8. The Linktown Derry flag with the Rovers badge on it is just....odd and I don't quite get it. The Union Jack flag I've kinda turned a blind eye to it. Up until this season I hadn't seen that at games however it's been to a number of games this season and the boy appears to travel home and away. He does however appear in the above photo with the guy that had the Linktown Derry flag on Friday. It's all just very weird.

If Fife's biggest club - Dunfermilne Athletic - couldn't beat us at home, then what chance do Fife's smallest club - Raith Rovers - have of taking anything from us at the The Caley Stadium?

ICT fair enjoy celebrating their draws. Took pride in the fact your drew with the galaticos of Fife whilst they currently sit on our mantlepiece 😘

How would you feel if the club were fined or otherwise sanctioned because fans used pyro?

The use of pyro isn't a new thing and zero club has faced any consequences by the SPFL thus far (key word). Considering Dundee and Rangers escaped any form of punishment for the shenanigans at Dens Park tells it's own story. There's more chance of us being hit financially for the recent pitch invasions at Hampden and East End, something the club haven't publicly brought up.

  11. Re pyro. I like it, think it looks class and for some inexplicable reason adds to the atmosphere and matchday experience for me assuming it's not being chucked about. I get it's illegal, I get it's dangerous if in the hands of wee fannies who are being irresponsible, I get throwing them about is idiotic behaviour but unless the police wade in and start lifting folk I'm at a loss as to what will be done. Police and stewards are forever just standing there watching it. I doubt clubs are going to go through the hassle of sifting through CCTV in the hope they can pick out the people at the next game to ban them. Unless you're strip searching everyone before going into a game folk will find ways to conceal them and get them in. As long as they are easily available folk will continue to buy them and take them to games. It's almost became a cultural thing now 'X club saw X fans use them, there's no ramifications for them, we want to do the same' and it filters through to other clubs. I believe Ayr had some sniffer dog at their games and sniffer dog up at Peterhead for their cup game but fans still found a way to get in with smoke bombs. It's easy for folk to say 'it's simple, don't bring them' but it's primarily young lads who clearly don't give a toss. If the police wanted to stamp their authority on Friday then they had the perfect opportunity with the folk setting them off down the front of the stand and easy to spot however they'd need to do likewise against the erse cheeks with their fireworks and flares that are set off in bigger numbers and you can guarantee that won't happen. Get some designated personnel trained in the safe use and management of them to set them off at specific times so's as not to delay games kicking off within a safe area of the ground and with knowledge of the safe disposal of them afterwards. Other countries have managed this from what I'm led to believe.
