  1. I don't think it's anything to do with lack of ambition, it's not like the players/club chucked in the towel in the last few games - we were runners up because Dunfermline were better than us. If we had won the league that season then we'd just have to enjoy it as best we could and I'm sure the euphoria of winning promotion would have dwindled away very quickly when we were getting pumped week in week out ala Dunfermline. IMO we'd have had to spend some serious cash to put together a squad capable of competing in the SPL and you have all the other add on's as well that I mentioned above. There would have been no way our current squad back then would have kept us up. Anyone who thinks that is living in cloud cuckoo land. You could argue the financial demands to chase the illustrious dream of competing in Scotland's top flight could have crippled us.
  2. If we had went up that year we'd have had to fork out thousands installing under soil heating and updating our media and press boxes to the point where we'd have next to nothing left to improve the squad. I'd hazard a guess, if we went up, we probably would have went the entire season not winning a game with the squad we had.
  3. Minus the nightmare game against Airdrie I thought Fahey was quite decent for us.
  4. That video is just tremendous. It's when he stands up and just points before continuing the chase
  5. I'm sure that was the infamous 'steward falling on his erse' game
  6. Can't believe I forgot that one. Think we've had a fair few last minute equaliser/winners away from home as well.
  7. Very true. Trying to think of the one's we've had (not necessarily at the South Stand end or in any order): Stranraer - think Kevin Smith got us a last minute winner back in the 2nd Division days at the North Stand end. Arbroath - Ferry. I lost the plot when that went in. Ayr x3 - Weir, Simmons and Casa Dumbarton - Graham to put us 3-2 up. Ross County - Jamie Mole Morton - Smith Stirling Albion - Cardle
  8. There's no denying losing McGurn is a huge blow. A fan favourite (and rightly so) and a guy who loves it here and has marvelled us with some ridiculous saves over the years. Wishing him a speedy recovery and I'm sure he knows we're all thinking about him. I'm confident in Laidlaw's ability to take over from McGurn during his recovery though. It's important we don't start to lose more players to injuries as our squad is small enough as it is.
  9. Website must have recently changed. Defo said torn cruciate ligament earlier.
  10. If it generates an atmosphere then fair play. I see L.Barnett (his name anyway) is in the link so if he's part of the group then he seems level headed enough to ensure folk aren't setting off flares etc. Agree with Raith Against The Machine in regards to the name - Rovers Lions (albeit still a bit cringworthy) is better than Raith Lions. The name itself makes me think of some kids club that would be ran by Roary Rover.
  11. Oh christ 100% agree. Absolutely woeful tune to play when we score.
  12. Aww how cute, still thinking of yourself as the big team. Keep living the dream champ
  13. Very possibly. I've spoken to many Rovers players over the years and found most to be quite down to earth and humble. Walker though was on a different planet.
  14. Spoke to Walker a few times when the players came up to the hospitality suite. The guys a fecking knob. Typical loud mouthed daft wee tit who thinks he's the bees knees.
  15. A massive positive we should be taking is we're not necessarily playing to our full potential (imo) yet picking up results and sitting in 2nd position. There are elements of our play we can improve on and you just have to wonder what we're capable of if we do iron out any glitches and play a more consistent high tempo game.
  16. Whilst I'm not 100% positive I think Flyers approached Rovers in the past for some sort of ticket deal but Rovers knocked them back. EDIT: In fact did we not knock them back and they then asked Dunfermline who agreed to some sort of deal.
  17. Been impressed with Moon thus far. A definite stand out amongst our new signings.
  18. 3-1 Rovers. Can't see us keeping a clean sheet but think we'll have enough quality in the squad to see us get the win.
  19. If the boy on Fantalk is his dad he's saying Bonar is signing for Montrose tonight.
  20. Is it common practice for players not to wear a number 13 shirt as I notice number 13 is missing as well?
  21. http://www.raithrovers.net/9581/stirling-albion-admission-prices-sat-270713.htm Decent admission price for what most consider a diddy cup.
