I could hazard a guess as to which players that would be. Their squad is big enough to maintain a good standard, even if they lose their two or three best players. I do wonder if part of the decision making of going to WoS teams is to do with the weakness of the league they’ll be playing in next year.

I think there will be another 2 or 3 teams from SPAFA applying for the Calie league next season. I know of another 2 who are regretting not applying for the GGPL who have said they will for the following season. Its a shame but I think we are going to see the demise of the old SAFL and Central for good possibly as early as the end of thos season.

Another poster said three teams (including Eddlewood) are moving to the Greater Glasgow. With FC Pather joining, that puts the Scottish Premier AFL at 15 teams next season as things stand.

That's shocking if true.  Got to be only 1 division next season. I've said it before GGPL going from strength to strength and Calie clearly best league in the the west next season. Can see other SPAFA teams going to both of these leagues and it becoming just a 19s league. Sad to see.

1 Team in the East Cup Final

1 Team in the West Cup Final with another playing in the Semi Final

2 Teams in the last 8 of the Scottish

The League select winning 16 v 0 last weekend

so you post is just another negative comment about the SPAFA

So let me balance your negativety

your beloved Cally have only 1 team left in all the nationals / district Cups

which make the decision for those teams to move Leagues even more bewildering  considering the reasons given

They've moved for a reason and the fact you aren't asking the question why?? Is why youre in the state youre in. Lets see who is in what nationals and districts next season and I think youll have your harsh reality staring you in the face.

A couple of good teams doesn't make a great "league". There is also an element of luck in cup runs - there's still a Greater Glasgow Team in the later stages of the nationals.

The Titanic is sinking but you're still trying to shuffle the deck chairs mate.

I think thats a fair shout. SPAFA have effectively become the 3rd best league in the West of Scotland and do seem to be doing well with the 19s. Not a bad thing if they can keep it going. Could be a good feeder league to the GGPL.

Dont know if would be easier for the spafa teams should amalgamate in the ggp

GGPL wouldnt touch them. They have become an under 19s league now. Shame to see a good league drop so low.

Sadly your rumour about Castlemilk going Saturday morning is the same as your one about GHSFP. Total p*sh I’m afraid.

I did get 3 out of 4 of the rest that moved. Castlemilk one came from someone inside Castlemilk OBC so surprised about that but fair enough. Re Greenock HSFP a few people heard that and I suppose they have decided against it THIS season. Cant see them being happy pumping teams 50 odd to nil for long so watch this space

That can’t leave many of the top league for next year?.

From the website, the 12 in the Premier League - 3 Folded, 4 to the Calie which leaves 5. Rumour that Castlemilk OBC going Sat morning also. Be as well going back to calling it the SAFL

  8. GARTCOSH now announced moving from SPAFA to the Calie league. Another really good club to add to Bannockburn, St Pats and Campsie who have already jumped ship from SPAFA to Calie. Never saw any of them coming but SPAFA is imploding.

Will the SPAFA fold or try again next season? They're essentially becoming the Greater Glasgow League (with less teams) in real time.

I actually think the GGPL are in a much stronger position in terms of numbers (32 teams to a possible 18 in SPAFA) and quality when you see what will remain in SPAFA next season. SPAFA are in serious trouble unfortunately.

TBH it does come across as 100% bitter 🤣🤣

Leagues are entitled to make their own decision to amalgamate or not, and just because it doesn't suit you it comes across as petty and weak. IF the rumours are true about St Pats and Campsie Minerva, currently sitting 1st & 3rd in the Scottish 'Premier' Amateur League (only 9 teams in it right enough), switching to the Calie League then that should set alarm bells ringing in that league.

Clubs are switching, for whatever reasons, but things can't be great or it wouldn't be the case.  Maybe the league that's losing teams should ask the question WHY as opposed to throwing insults at a league running its business properly and in a way that attracts quality clubs to it.

It certainly looks like the amalgamation hasn't worked and rumours abound of more movement in the same direction so when the dust settles lets see what state the leagues are in.

St Pats and Campsie Minerva confirmed by the Caledonian League on twitter. No doubt about it now, interesting times.

I can see it now the S.I.C.K. [ self interest cally klubs ] patting themselves in the back especially the dinosaurs at giffnock and cambusbarron with  " I told you so " attitude so when you read this ask yourself  are you really interested in saving saturday afternoon football or is it we dont give 2 f *** s about it  as we are ok and if you want to come and join us your welcome if this is the case what was wrong with the full amalgamation of all the Leagues its the same at the end of the day apart from you kept your precious  cally name

As for the Drums dunipace st pats and campsie all two faced as I attended the meeting you all voted to join the scottish amateur but I suppose the S.I.C.K name will be to you understanding

I know this will come across as a bitter post but more of frustration of what could have been

If you think that 18 is enough for an amateur team there is no way you've been involved with one

Exactly, you might have 25 signed but half of them will only be available now and again to help out. Its not like youre rocking up with 25 players at 1pm on a Sat and trying to whittle it down to 18. Truth is nowadays that you need a bigger squad just to fulfill games

I have heard that bannockburn and castlemilk obc are looking to move too

The SPAFL has shot its bolt I think. If, as rumoured, St Pats and Campsie to Calie they are 100% top league in Scotland. I also heard GHSFP making the move also. Interesting times for the Calie

  14. See that the West of Scot 21s and 19s have joined Cali league now to form development leagues. On twitter last night. Decent addition to the league if it means you can play players in your ammy teams as well as 19s and 21s which they say it does.

Nice of them to keep the two EK teams apart in the semis (Cupar v EK Colts, EK RR v Steins)

Really strange draw indeed??? Just gives the conspiracy theorists loads of ammunition. Maybe EK teams staying together guaranteeing an EK team in the final would have been their preferred option. As an aside has there been a semi final team before who hasn't played a Central, Caley or Ayrshire top Divsion team in their run?. Bit similar to Falkirks run in the Scottish who can get to the final without playing a Premiership team.

Other leagues have a nice geographical name (apart from Caledonian) but instead of keeping the perfectly acceptable and descriptive "Central Scottish" they go for a shit name like "Premier Amateur"...

It's a bit of an embarrasment tbh. Let themselves down with the name and made themselves look pretty desparate.
