Pretty sure it's only 14 Scottish AFL teams now as Hillington have resigned. Currently looking at 31 teams in the Central Scottish/Scottish and 28 in the Caledonian for next season I believe.

According to central's website they have 9 in premier, but Drum to Cali leaves 8. They have 10 in the championship but Dunipace to Cali and possibly 1, maybe 2 to the GGPL leaves 8 so a total of 16 teams in the central. Add the fact that safl may be at 14 but again another couple are moving to GGPL so don't think they will have 31 although they maybe have other clubs applying to them, who knows. I stick by my initial thoughts that to take in maybe 14 teams to get possibly 2 good teams seems a bit like a numbers game instead of quality. I know of a committee member from a central premier team who tells me all the teams are getting calls from central committee trying to convince teams to stay. Sounds like they're panicking to me.

And the cally is not doing likewise what have those teams that have been taken in done to make you class tham as top sides ? apart from the drum

And if its a 16 team league good luck trying to get that finished next season if those teams are meant to be top sides therefore a run in the national or district cups would be expected and 30 league games no chance

I reckon the cally are now showing their true colours considering that a member of their executive initially started the almagamation talks, so they have now decided to go it alone and get the struggling saturday afternoon leagues in the central belt to fold and leaving the clubs left limited choice rather than do the correct move and form a pyramid with all the central belf leagues.  I AM ALRIGHT JACK ACTION

Struck a raw nerve there. I think the majority of teams the Cali have brought in are all either top, or near top of their respective leagues. Whereas the central have taken in 15 teams to get 2 teams of a similar standard. That's all I was saying, sonot really quite the same as you suggest. According to the Cali website and twitter it was all the Cali Clubs who didn't want a merger so you're a bit off the mark there.  Whether that was a right or wrong decision who knows, but surely if the Clubs knock it back they're entitled to do so, its their league? To be honest is it down to a league on it's own to save amateur football as you suggest or try to put their own house in order so its attractive for other Clubs to apply. Surely if it's about saving ammy football that's the SAFA that should be doing something about it.

  3. Just saw the Cali have announced Giffnock SC and Dunipace joining next season. Add that to Alva, Riverside, Drumchapel and Stenhousemuir next seasons 1st Div should be a cracker. Heard no teams leaving the Cali so going by their website its 12 team Premier and 16 team 1st Div. That's strong. They've effectively taken 2 teams from Central Premier, arguably best teams in GGPL and Stirling & District. Decent going. Central taking in good sides from SAFL although taking in 15 teams to get 2 decent ones seems like just going for numbers tbh

  4. Some of them could have backers willing to put money into them and they will be able to pay players so will have scope for different bodies.

Surely to just accept teams into a supposed semi pro league you would at least had to have proved you're capable of competing at that level andyou have the stadia etc in place. Personally thinks it makes a mockery of the whole league
  5. These are the 9 clubs joining the new WOSFL Division Four Development Division:
    St Peters (Paisley)
    Harthill
    Harmony Row (Govan)
    Kilsyth Athletic
    Finnart (East End of Glasgow)
    Glenvale (Paisley)
    Campbeltown Pupils AFC
    Westerton United (Bearsden)
    Broomhill Sport Club (Knightswood)
Another 2 clubs may be joining them:
    Kilbride Thistle
    Stewarton
One club has been accepted but have held back their entry for a year - Blantyre SC
iF YOU ARE INTERESTED- why not make an enquiry to join?

It pretty bizarre imho. None of these teams have done anything significant in the amateur game, some are in bottom leagues and a couple nearly folded just before Covid???? Surely you would only be looking to go semi pro if you were winning everything at your own level and wanted to 'progress' for increased competition. The fact almost all of them dont fit the ground criteria, and lets be honest, wont have their own ground that will fit it ever just makes a mockery of the whole thing.
  6. Good luck amateurs, maybe a rejig of the leagues will help next season with possibly lesser teams still playing. Lost leagues (sat & sun) down here in Bristol, looks like a skeleton thing now. Think most players up to 35-40 will hope to keep playing in a full 21/22 season, just to return to a normality.

I don't personally see the huge number of teams folding when we get back up and running, I hope not anyway. I think guys will be buzzing to get back into it. Financially its probably not cost clubs as they arent shelling out so shouldn't be too bad. Obviously no race nights etc could hit some clubs but overall I hope we get back to it for real in August. Or am I just an optimist?

  7. I’m not sure you can blame the SFA. They are reacting to governmental announcements and advice. Granted they have been silent on football outside elite level. They also can’t cancel professional football as it’s the call of the SPFL. Governments closing all facilities that amateurs use to play and train ties the hands of the teams. Juniors or former junior teams have their own facilities to use and by default are professional clubs due to the change in structure over the summer so it’s not a benchmark we can use at amateur level. I have to agree though that this pandemic will have far reaching and long lasting effects on the amateur game.

Been silent is putting it mildly.
  8. Unpopular opinion here but football outwith the top 4 leagues in the country should not be permitted IMO

Personally I believe at Level 3 and below there should be no differentiation for outdoor football. At Level 4 you can only have 20 at a funeral but 'professional' football can still have 49 meeting up for football. That does not sit well with me. At Level 4 if you aren't testing you shouldnt be playing football imho.

  9. House is in good order thanks, maybe get your facts straight before slinging mud. I await your apology.

Got to love the guys that come on talking rubbish about stuff they don't know about and trying to ruin people's reputation off the back of their nonsense. I dont know why you bother Graham3179 running a league in your own time for people just to be snidey and then not apologising for spreading sh&te.
  10. Dated suspension has always been a hit and miss ......player given 2 month suspension over the winter period may miss less games than the player giving  a 4 match suspension, or another example over the winter period  a player giving a 4 game ban is out longer than the 2 month suspended player......so a I said its been  hit and miss for years...

Agreed they can be a bit of a hit and miss due to weather etc but this is a global pandemic. SAFA/Leagues need to show a bit of common sense and put in place some emergency ruling to avoid guys who have already had months without football having that extended because of a mimimal fixed penalty offence. The SFA threw the rule book out the window when it came to being cup tied in the Scottish Cup so its not impossible if you have the will and the common sense.

  11. But is it fair that a guy who had a 3 game suspension would not be punished at all, so misses the same amount of football as someone who has not had any suspension?

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Thats a good shout, maybe thr answer is stop the time for the dated suspension from when Covid stopped football then restart from 01/10 or whenever we get back to it.

  12. Anyone know what the script is with players who had game bans to serve before the seasons were all finished due to pandemic. Would like to think the Safa will show a bit of sense and wipe the slate clean. Not fair the time based suspensions have won a watch and hardly missed any football but someone with a one game or two game ban has to sit the start of the season out.

Bit strange this one. If suspensions remain guys who had a 1 game suspension for a very minor thing will miss games. Then guys who got a 6 month suspension for spitting, headbutting or whatever will miss ZERO games. Is that fair????
  13. Funny to see so many teams, pro and ammy, who are on twitter saying, "great to be back, first training session....." when they have been training for months. I just hope the same teams stick to the guidelines THIS TIME and don't ruin it for the rest of us. Seen a full 11 a side game a couple of weeks ago in Wishaw area, using changing rooms etc as if there was no Covid restrictions.

  14. Thats just bonkers if the case!
Im pretty sure most teams will have attempted to follow protocols and implemented a new way of training but probably realised that not everyone was doing it and nobody was enforcing it so these 'rules' would have been breached.
Dont see how there gonna open it back up to small group sessions again so that means itll be full contact 'all in' training. Will that be on the 24th , im not sure now?
The Government & JRG's next move/advice is one that will have massive bearing on whether or no we have some kind of season to look forward. If we dont get competitive football up and running in October then imo we can forget it and start planning for summer football next year.

If the pictures doing the rounds of Gerard and McAllister hit the media we can kiss goodbye any time soon. The last thing we need is another high profile thing like Aberdeen and Celtic
  15. Just dont do what?
Train? Yeah that probably should have been the original decision then it would have saved having to suspend it again.

Just dont break the rules?? You say it was too difficult not to. It wasnt really becayss the vast majority of teams were sticking to the rules. Teams playing friendlies using dressing rooms, others putting poctures of 20 guys training all together, posting requests for referees. Along with Aberdeen, Celtic, Hibs, Motherwell and Rangers they're the ones who shafted everyone.
  16. Alot has been said about teams breaking the rules , not following guidelines etc but lets be honest here, it is very difficult to 100% follow them down to the letter of the law especially at our level.
There are guidelines and 'rules' in my workplace that are not getting adhered to on a daily basis so i hink alot of people need to stop taking the moral high ground on this 1 as it near on impossible to get through daily life without breaching the measures at some point!
For me it was inevitable that some teams would do there own thing and hopefully this suspension wont go on any longer than the 24th when hopefully contact training can resume. In hinesight maybe the government shouldnt have bothered with the small group training guidelines and just went straight to normal training.

How difficult is it??? Just dont do it.
  17. Celtic and Aberdeen break the rules so let's punish everyone except the top flight that have been breaking the rules, excellent logic from the SFA once again.

Not the only ones who broke the rules tbf
  18. Understandable concerns raised there however they risks will b all around us for the forseeable future unless people are never going to leave the house again.
Life has to go on and if people use there heads they can eliminate some of the risk of catching/spreading it.
Thats said how do we bring Grassroots football back with social distancing in play? Is it even possible, will facilities even be available for teams to use? These are the kind of challenges that will face Grassroots football over the next couple of months.
Id really like to see football back in august if not before it plays a massive part in alot of peoples lives so hopefully we get a green light for atleast some kind of training to be allowed and then we can look at tackling how to get games played further down the line.

I dont think Pleslie was saying we dont leave the house just that we will probably need to maintain social distancing for some considerable time. That kills any chance of games starting but doesnt mean we cant train. Obviously the training will need to take SD into account but at least guys can get back to a bit more social interaction alongside running and ballwork.
