  1. I notice Kenny Miller has retired from playing. We could do a lot worse than trying to get him in to work with the strikers for a few sessions. He could certainly teach them a few things in terms of movement, hold up play and finishing.
  2. I think we need a couple of players in to give options and put players under pressure for the shirt. However I would like to see the following team formation on Sat Long Watson. Dunlop. Higgins. Slattery Murdoch. Davidson Dunsmore. Wallace. Agnew Dowds With Murdo and Davo sitting in front of the back 4 it allows the striker and three behind him to go and attack. When our opponents have the ball we essentially become a 4-5-1. Wallace has already been doing lots of work outside the box and dropping deep to create space so maybe this role will suit him better and allow us to get players up to help Anton quicker, knowing that we will have six behind should our tack break down. Worth a try !
  3. Fair play to Clyde - took their chances when we made defensive errors. Can anyone clarify what happened when the Referee gave a bounce ball at the feet of Mitchell in the Clyde box in the second half - totally baffling !
  4. I suppose it’s swings and roundabouts. East Fife charge £2 more than Airdrie for concessions - £12 opposed to £10 but adult admission is £2 cheaper at Bayview - £15 instead of £17 at the Penny Cars stadium. Free parking at Bayview but £2 at Airdrie. I personally think admission charges should be standardised across a league as you are watching the same two teams playing no matter where.
  5. Good point in the end and could end up being an important one. Not just in that it puts us back above Montrose even though they have a game in hand but also from a ‘stopping the rot’ perspective. Hopefully it will help confidence even though it’s a couple of weeks till the next game. Dunsmore took his goal really well after a driving run at the Airdrie defence. A well worked corner by Airdrie so the ever dangerous Gallagher head home from close range at the back post. Poor defending and inability to clear the ball out the box saw the ball break to Gallagher again who coolly slotted past Long. At that stage I feared the worst as the visitors looked dangerous every time they went forward. To our credit, we came out in the second half with more desire and belief pinning Airdrie back for long periods but they still looked dangerous on the break. Airdrie and in particular, Crichton defended brilliantly by blocking shots and making some great challenges. Thankfully Craig Watson got his head on a corner to get a deserved equaliser. Airdrie look a decent side and they brought a good number of fans with them. We need to stop shipping poor goals which are putting us under real pressure to get back into it. Thought Murdoch was excellent today and made some great challenges in the if and on the ground. Good to see Watson get on the scoresheet. Dunsmore was more like himself but I can’t help feeling that Referees are now looking for an excuse to book him. It was barely a foul today never mind a booking ! Davidson showed what we were missing against the Rovers. Baker did ok for his first start and hopefully with more game time will become more of a threat. Wallace is a persistent moaner but a great player to have in your team. Often dropping into deep areas where he gets more space to work in. Have to admit we looked more comfortable on the left side when Slattery came on. Good to see Kev Smith make an appearance. With a friendly next Sat, hopefully Darren Young will use it to give some players game time but also try a few options. Hopefully Ross Dunlop maybe available for the Clyde game. I would like to see us try the following formation Long Watson. Dunlop. Higgins. Slattery Murdoch. Davidson Dunsmore. Wallace. Agnew Dowds Was surprised that Boyd wasn’t brought on today when we were needing a goal. Is it a sign that he could be on his way when his contract runs out ? Or is he carrying a knock ? Really need to get 3 points at Brodwood if we are to make a real push for the play offs. Mon the Fife
  6. No wonder the country is in such a state if that is the sort of thing being discussed at Holyrood !
  7. Loads of positives today, not least the fact we got three points against our bogey team of recent times. First 35 minutes we were in total command and looked comfortable until we gave away a corner. McGeever scores with a towering header then they got the equaliser when Crossan fires across the face of goal and Watson turned it into his own net. No blame attached as if he had left it McCluskey had a tap in. At that stage I was happy to hear the half time whistle. Second half we were on the front foot again and Boyd put us ahead at the second attempt before Liam Watt showed great composure in the box to make the score 4-2. We then managed the game brilliantly and still created a few chances on the break. Danny Denholm had his best game in an East Fife shirt and tormented the full back so much that he was delighted when he was moved to left back ! Pat slotted back in to left back and we looked more solid. Craig Watson came in and did a great job at right back and didn’t look like a player who hasn’t played much recently. Stewart Murdoch slotted in at Centre back in place of Ross Dunlop and had one of his best games. Liam Watt put in a great shift and added two goals to his seasons tally. Anton started to look more like himself and just needs a goal to build his confidence. Steven Boyd is looking more and more match fit and certainly knows where the goals are. Good to see Chris Duggan getting some game time after a long time out. Darren and Tony got the tactics spot on today and I’m sure they will be as happy as the fans to finally get one over Jim Duffy. With no game next week due to Clyde’s involvement in the Tunnock Caramel Wafer Cup, it gives the injured players another weeks rest. Hopefully, Ryan Wallace and Ross Dunlop are fit for the Scottish and Aaron Dunsmore returns from suspension giving the manager a great headache of having a full squad to choose from. Playing Clyde on the Tuesday may influence his starting 11. Mon the Fife
  8. Thought overall a draw was about right. Gullan should have scored but thankfully he hit the shot straight at Jordan Hart. At the opposite end McGurn made a great save from Pat Slattery. The Rovers goal was down to poor defending of the corner with Church or Murdoch (not sure who it was) failing to get their head to the ball as it came in and Spencer had an easy tap in at the far post. The Rovers have been hit hard with injuries and Hendry could be out for at least a few weeks if not longer. They at least have a bigger squad to cope. We had four players ruled out today which limited our option too (Bell, Smith, Duggan and Wallace. For me, Wallace was a huge miss today as he is a very clever player who brings others into the game and gives defenders a hard time. I feel for Anton just now as he seems to be carrying an injury but can’t be rested due to the other injuries. Good to keep the unbeaten run going but we need to turn some of the draws into wins if we are to hit the top.
  9. 16 from 27 not 36. Remember it’s League 1 and you only get three points for a win !
  10. Would have taken a point before the game and was quite happy to walk away with that after 90 minutes. Cammy Bell showed why the Bairns have only lost 2 goals in 8 games and fair play to him, he took the banter from the Fife fans well and sportingly applauded them at the end of the game. First half was pretty even with Bell making two excellent saves and Jordan Hart reacting well to turn a shot round the post and possibly getting a touch to the shot which hit the post. The penalty claim, I have to admit I expected the Referee to point to the spot. However, after being denied a few penalties last week against Dumbarton, maybe this was the start of these things evening themselves out over the season ! The second half saw Falkirk have more possession but without really creating many clear cut chances apart from the shot from inside the box which was blazed over. Hart didn’t really have any saves of note as we defended well throughout. I felt for Anton Dowds today as he missed Ryan Wallace who would have given the Falkirk defenders more of a physical battle and held the ball up. Hopefully Waldo is back in the starting line-up next week against Stranraer. I got the feeling that some of the Falkirk players feel they are too good for this league but they have to realise, they are plying their trade in League 1 as they probably didn’t have many offers from the league above or not on the money Falkirk offered. Teams in this league will raise their game in an attempt to get points off the full-time outfit. They have to deal with that and raise their game to the higher level most have played at. I’m sure they will be in the mix at the end of the season but I can’t see it being the walk in the park that some seem to think.
  11. Dunsy should definitely have been given a penalty. Even if the referee considered it not to be a penalty, there was no way it was a dive and deserved a booking. The Wallace has me for me was less clear cut as he seems to stand on the ball as he is pulled back but how the referee saw fit to award a free kick to Dumbarton is beyond me. If he is saying it was a dive then Wallace should have been booked. The one where Murdoch jumped to header from the corner and was taken out is ridiculous. The Dumbarton penalty was the correct decision. The incompetency of the Referee and the stand side assistant was absolutely incredible. I hope they watch the highlights and realise what an absolute shocker they had. They probably thought they did very well !!!!
  12. Really felt for Ross Dunlop at the first goal. Looked as though he changed his mind in terms of what he was going to do. Normally he’d knee the ball back to the keeper but think he was worried that the wind was going to be a problem. He has been a great signing, consistent and dependable. Excellent response from the team today after that setback. A real belief in the team. Higgy was outstanding again and Ryan Wallace was brilliant.
  13. If I was Darren Young, I’d be contacting Gary Naysmith at Hearts and see if he can do us a favour by giving us Aiden Keena on loan till January.
  14. I’d go with Hart Watson. Dunlop. Higgins. Church Murdoch. Davidson Dunsmore. Agnew. Watt Wallace Subs Long, Slattery, Denholm, Hunter, Duggan, Dowds, McConville
  15. Unfortunately can’t make the game this weekend due to a wedding but I hope Darren goes with Hart Watson Dunlop. Higgins. Church (if signed) Dunsmore. Davidson. Agnew. Denholm (if fit) Dowds. Wallace Subs - Long, Murdoch, Slattery, Watt, Hunter, Duggan + U/20 player The manager can then change it up for the Stirling Albion game the following Tuesday
  16. Don’t know if your post is aimed at my post or not but I am not criticising what the club have done, only offering a possible future solution which will help all supporters whether they have a season ticket or not. Like most clubs we are not in a position that we can afford to lose any fans and must in the future look at ways that keep all fans happy.
  17. I agree that some sort of system should be looked at to ensure regular pay at the gate fans are looked after at all ticket games. 1. At the start of the season Pay at the gate fans could register with the club and lists held at the turnstiles where fans who have registered could be ticked off at each game. Priority could be given to those who have attended most games on a sliding scale when all ticket games come around. 2. Pay at the gate fans could be given a loyalty card which could be stamped at the turnstile and tickets allocated on the above basis. I think it’s a bit general to say ST & SC +1’s are only big game attendees. Myself, my mum and my daughter all have season tickets and offered two of them to friends who we know attend regularly but don’t have season tickets. I offered another genuine fan who attends most games home and away that I don’t know well the third ticket through social media. He was extremely grateful and I’m delighted that three guys who are East Fife fans will get the chance to attend the games. I would encourage other St/SC members to do the same
  18. Hopefully the club are putting all those attending hospitality in the appropriate end of the stand. By asking those booking hospitality whether they are East Fife or Rangers supporters and seating them appropriately will avoid a repeat of the hostile and volatile situations seen at the last couple of games against Rangers at Bayview. Mon the Fife !
  19. I’m a season ticket holder and I am getting a ticket for Fife fan who is regularly at Bayview and supports East Fife. I would encourage every season ticket holder to buy a ticket for the game for an East Fife fan who doesn’t have a season ticket or isn’t a member of the supporters club. This is one way to ensure the home end isn’t packed with Rangers fans as has happened in the past. Let’s help fellow fans out and don’t be swelling the Rangers contingent. Let’s get genuine Fife fans in the home end. Not everyone can afford a season ticket. Mon the Fife
  20. Totally agree. All Final games should be played at the same time so that scenario doesn’t occur - Only in Scotland eh !!!
  21. Stirling at home in the Tunnocks Cup - old Irn Bru Cup
  22. They also have us away for the first game of the season and away for the last game !!
