I think most people were delighted when he was cast and were expecting him to have a build similar to that of when he was in Watchmen, which as you say was pretty much dead on the version of Negan from the comics. When he fist appeared on screen all I could think was how much he looked like Ian Dury in that leather jacket! Don't get me wrong he's still an excellent actor and plays the part pretty well, but the skinny look just does not fit the character IMO.

Rumour has it they're calling it quits after season 12 which coincides with Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride's contracts coming to an end. The viewing figures must really be dwindling if they have resorted to releasing episodes early on Premiere and at this rate I think they'll be lucky to get to 12! I think the deals dead in the water.
