  1. January 2063 Transfer window is open, so I brought in a couple of very young midfielders from my old club. They were both on the fringes of my Daugavpils side, and both look likely to be in my Latvia team in the not too distant future, so pleased to get them. Jevgenjis Vientiess is the slightly older and more attacking of the two. A very technically competent player, but he obviously has plenty of work to do on other aspects of his game. His concentration being so poor is especially concerning, but I'll be throwing him in to plenty of games and the full time training should do him good. He wasn't particularly expensive, either wages or transfer fee, so if it all goes wrong I don't mind too much. Reinis Regza is still only 16 and has all the makings of a very decent ball winning midfielder. He's almost the opposite of Vientiess in that the mental side of his game is very good, even at his young age, but he's not a technically great player and he could do with being better physically as well. That said, he's not far off being good enough in these areas, and at only 16 he's got plenty of time to improve. An unbeaten first month for my reign, which is nice. Other than Akademija Pandev, we've been playing teams around us in the league, so good that we haven't been losing those games. At the same time, we were 2-0 up in the 85th minute against Sileks, and fucked it up, and we should be beating sides like Vellazerimi. Still, a positive first month. Still in ninth place, but we've closed the gap to one point. Apparently the season is 44 games long, so we've still got quite a long time to go yet.
  2. I mean, I suppose blatantly putting in no effort whatsoever and seeing if numerous clubs will accept it is a kind of bravery. Absolute horrorshows all round, but the one with the massive S sponsor on it (Stade Rennais, I think) is particularly bad.
  3. No saying it’s a bad team, but given that County - especially under Derek Adams - used to sign about a hundred players a season, I’m a bit surprised that there aren’t more who’ve turned out very decent. Then I remembered that Adams tended to sign utter nonsense like Jim Fenlon, and it made more sense.
  4. I’d say it’s a pretty decent defence and forward line. Goalkeeper and midfield is, admittedly, ropey - a shame all our better players over recent years have retired or turned to absolute shit.
  5. Mark Ridgers Stephen O’Donnell - Jack Hendry - Liam Lindsay - Callum Booth Blair Spittal - Sean Welsh - George Moncur - Steven Lawless Kevin Nisbet - Lyle Taylor
  6. Fairly brief interview with McCall up on YouTube, but he’s hoping for at least two more signings in, preferably three. Hoping to have a centre half/right back in this week. Sena still part of the plans but McCall hopeful he can get some experience while at Alloa.
  7. Maybe not, but I can’t see what other teams would definitely have a bigger budget than us. I mean, Killie and Dunfermline will, but I’d be staggered if Arbroath, Ayr, Morton, Queens or Caley do. That leaves Accies and Raith, who I would normally expect to have a smaller budget than we do but maybe the extra Covid cash will play a part. Even if they do have a bigger budget, it won’t be by much I wouldn’t have thought.
  8. Yeah, that’s what happened with us. He was unplayable on his debut (I think we lost 3-2 against yourselves, we ended up with 9 men) and had a couple of decent games following that but then turned into absolute dogshit. Dunno what he was like at Ayr, but I too have no doubts that his current form won’t last and Raith fans will see the lazy charlatan that Ayr and Thistle fans know.
  9. When we knew we were getting promoted, I’d have gladly taken mid table mediocrity this season just based on what an absolute shambles our two previous efforts at this level had been. Having seen the squad we have now though, I agree we should be looking at fourth minimum. Anything less will be a bit of a failure. Obviously things like long term injuries to a couple of key players could scupper that, but I’m hopeful if a good campaign. On Hastie, I’m pleased with him as it provides us with another pacey option, and, although he’s not done much since, if he can recapture some of his “Motherwell early 2019” form, he should do very well in this league. I also think that McCall could be the perfect manager for him at this stage of his career, so really hopeful it all works out.
  10. We’ll thank them for their sacrifice when we’re watching hat trick heroes Christopher McKee and Tony Weston light up the world stage for Scotland.
  11. Meet the Team - KF Gostivar 4 stars is Good player for most MFL1 sides, 3 is decent player for same A decent enough group of players up front - the only one who really isn't good enough is Xhafaj. The problem, as you'll see, is that Ercolano and Halili are needed elsewhere on the pitch, leaving me with only really Tasev here. Will need reinforcements. Right wing is strong, and central attacking midfield is fine as well. I need a new left winger, at least, and some depth here as well. Could be worse though. Again, it's ok. I have one guy who's good enough and then 2 others who're not too far off being good enough. Will certainly look to improve on this, but it'll be fine for now. That's not great. I'm fine at right back, but everywhere else needs strengthened. Meh. Huber is probably fine for the time being, but again I'll need to look for better in the not too distant future.
  12. Well, it's not the third tier but I'm off to North Macedonia and KF Gostivar. They're from Gostivar, which is a town in the bit of Macedonia which is mostly populated by Albanians. Ninth biggest city in Macedonia, although Skopje is much, much bigger than anywhere else. Anyway, North Macedonian football is completely dominated by two sides - Vardar and Skhendija, who have won every single league title between them throughout the save, as well as the vast majority of the cups. Gostivar, meanwhile, have mostly been a yo-yo side between the top two divisions, with their best period being three seventh place finishes in a row. This season, however, we're sitting in ninth. in one of the relegation playoff spots. We don't look in any danger of dropping into the automatic relegations spots, which is nice, but the rest of this season will be about trying to make sure we avoid having the take part in the playoff.
  13. November 2062 - Internationals An excellent result against Armenia means that we're staying in League C of the Nations League! We were outplayed by the Slovaks, getting revenge for the fairly embarrassing loss they suffered against me last time, but we were genuinely better than Armenia and deserved to win. Outstanding stuff. And with seven points, we've now had the best ever performance by Latvia at this level of the nations league. The draw for the European Championship Qualifying was also made... Obviously, we have no chance. Turkey and the Netherlands will have the top two wrapped up fairly comfortably, you'd think, and then Finland and Slovenia are quite a lot better than me. I was seeded fifth rather than sixth this time, so that's a positive at least. Still looking for a club job, but all the currently available ones are in the third tier of North Macedonian football.
  14. I really want to dislike Jack Grealish, so it’s a good thing he’s such a fanny and makes it really easy to do so.
  15. Ok so that ‘x get battered everywhere they go’ is just going to be sung by every set of fans in England this year. Sound.
  16. Aye, it’s turning into a pumping now Great finish though
  17. Antonio will be incredibly relieved having missed an open goal and a penalty there…
  18. I think that line of argument is reserved for only the most mental unionists. My gran hit out with it last weekend when I saw her, and even my dad, who’s usually keen to get on board with any attacks on the SNP, was having absolutely none of it.
  19. Are there any of the traditionally big East German clubs who aren’t a bit shite now?
  20. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Tuck I don’t know anything about MMA, so no idea what level he was at, but gold and silver medals in the ‘World Professional Jiu-Jitsu cup’ seems more impressive than scoring a load of goals in the Guamanian league.
