Very valid point of view, and for the club probably the best way to look at it. A second place finish compared with last season was fantastic. Ambition to build on this is to be applauded. From a personal point of view I don’t want to spend at least 4 hours travelling to games. Moving up a league will require a huge increase in up front expenditure that cannot guarantee a return, and I don’t know where the money will come from. But what ever happens I’ll still be there.

Me neither, and as such have missed a lot more away games in recent seasons. However, this is also partly down to there being little appeal in visiting certain grounds/teams. This may change should we ever make the step up from the LL.

You seem a little obsessed with Bo’ness and bronze licences 🤣

He makes a valid point to be fair.

To be honest, I’m happy where we are. Don’t want to travel to the four corners of Scotland every second week. I appreciate the drive to improve, but don’t see a great difference in standard between League 2 and the Lowland league. I don’t think there is a justification in spending money on the ground that could be used to improve the team.

Improving the team increases the chances of challenging for the league. Players would certainly want to have a crack at the next league up, most supporters too. If the objective is only to remain in the LL then the club will struggle to attract the type of players that will improve the team and gradually go backwards or at best plod along with zero ambitions other than mid-bottom end mediocrity, effectively becoming a side playing glorified bounce games.

Finishing 3rd this season was superb.  It may turn out to be our peak in the Lowland League and we will finish mid table for the foreseeable future. Having said that should the BU's find themselves challenging for the playoffs I am sure the committee will endeavour to ensure that the criteria can be met.

p.s. I would be very happy to stay in the LL.  Great wee league.

It is a league that’s improving season upon season without a doubt, but for the club to survive there has to be a purpose. Mid table mediocrity has already been achieved by the previous regime and all that resulted in was numbers through the gates taking a hit. Fighting relegation will only see those numbers fall further which the club simply cannot afford.

I’ve been supporting Bo’ness for over 50 years, and some of my most enjoyable seasons have been during our time in the Super League. Enjoyment of the games paramount for me, not the league they’re played in.

This is probably the case for a majority percentage of our support. However, in the Superleague we were in as high a league as we could be at the time; winning titles and challenging for them regularly. The object was always to finish as high as we possibly could and ideally challenge for the league title. This objective has not changed at all since joining the pyramid. Any deviation from this M.O is only going to have a negative impact on the club for the reasons outlined in my previous posts above.

You mind she got her head shaved in WWE to join CM Punk's (shirt lived) Straight Edge Society? Said faction also included Luke Gallows (in storyline Festus was just him but being drugged; he somehow got off the drugs and binned being called Festus) and Joey Mercury.

Nah I don’t remember. I drifted out of following wrestling for many years post attitude era.

  4. No real discussion value to this, but having never heard of Serena Deeb before AEW, I was quite shocked to recently learn that she’s only 37.

I just assumed she was some 50 year old female legend from the indie promotions that AEW were paying her dues with a couple years contract before retirement much like they did with Sting.

To sum up, it's no surprise to see WWE rip the absolute pish.

Not in any way defending WWE without knowing for sure, but is it definitely them ripping the pish? Or, as per Taylor Swift and numerous other concerts, is it actually Ticketmaster’s bullshit demand algorithm that’s to blame for scandalous ticket prices yet again? 🤔

We shall disagree then sir! I think Willow is tremendous and think TTS is also tremendous (took a while but I got on board).

Reckon the TTS turn will be decent and will enjoy her feud with Mariah May and her pal from Stardom who debuted recently.

Presumably Jamie Hayter will be back at some point (hopefully for Wembley) and Britt Baker too.

Still got a pretty deep women's roster when you include Deeb, Stat, Mone, Riho, Skye Blue, Deona Purrazzo, Shida, Julia, Aminata and Thunder Rosa, all of whom are either legitimate challengers for a title or could be. There's a few ladies underneath who could be too.

Yep, packed with that much talent you forgot two of the biggest names of the division in Saraya and Ruby, albeit the latter is now on maternity leave.

    Away, Willow is ace!

Agree re Jericho though. He's clearly trying to lean in to the stuff folk are saying about him but he simply needs to just f**k off for a lengthy period of time.

Nah, I find Willow boring, as a character and her matches too. The “Timeless” Toni Storm character has run her course and needs binned now too.

Mercedes is gonna have to pull something out the bag to light up the women’s division because so far she’s been a complete non-entity and the women’s division seems to have got lost in itself despite having some big names and talent in the women’s ranks. For me, Julia Hart is the only one that’s really provided anything decent for the last few months.

  8. Where to even begin??

What a great season. From where we were last May, the job Stuart and Michael have done putting that squad together and achieving what they have done is fantastic

Ignoring Hearts B because they shouldn’t even be in the league, finishing in second place behind Chequebook FC and ahead of a couple of other bankrolled teams on a tiny percentage of their budgets is outstanding work.

Let’s kick on from here. Thank you Hunts and Gemmell. Mon the BU!

Edit - Have to finish with one minor gripe; It’s rubbish the season ending in mid April! Football should run until the end of May!

I cannot go them at all. Not their promos, not any gimmick. They just strike me as perpetually small-time in a way that guys like Kenny and Hamgman simply don't.

They can put on good matches, some great matches even and I do love a spot-fest on occasion as a spectacle but their matches are just that. Youve seen one, you've seen all. There's a total lack of cohesion and psychology in what they do.

I roll my eyes so hard at everything they do. Whether it's their wee insider jokes, playing the plucky underdogs, pull the power hungry EVP gimmick out, it is all hard to buy into. Especially the wee ratty looking one who looks like a stiff breeze could put him on his arse.

Precisely what I was trying to say but you worded it a lot better.

  10. Is it just me who finds the Young Bucks incredibly boring? Whether it’s face or heel everything they do as characters comes across so forced and false.

As for their in-ring work, they’re clearly two very fit athletic guys - but their matches are almost always very boring with no real flow. Just a couple of spot-fairies going through the motions until that synchronised flying somersault over the ropes or that back flip from the top turnbuckle etc.

Mind when WWE played choo-choo train noises when Braun Strowman ran around the ring?

    Changed days thankfully.

I know there’s been no end of ridiculous nonsense in wrestling for decades - But for me, the train noises for Braun Strowman and the spliced footage of Alexa Bliss’ mind games during matches was bordering on Robocop/David Arquette WCW levels of “all-time-low”.

  12. Think Samantha Irvin’s reaction to Cody winning the title pretty much sums up how great a main event and night 2 of Wrestlemania that was and how much Cody deserved it. So much genuine emotion.

Also; and this is just my thoughts - I get the feeling that with all the Austin rumours circulating in recent times, it was probably decided NOT to have him as part of the main event since it was almost too predictable given his historic rivalry with The Rock 🤔

Having it be ‘Taker who showed up was an absolute masterstroke piece of booking. Having the next biggest (or arguably equal biggest) superstar show up was genius. The lights out and gong sounding was just fucking perfect for that “HOLY f**k!” factor and getting a huge crowd pop.

Lights out, gong, then Undertaker in Rocks face just absolutely nailed the shock-factor. For me it was easily more effective for that element of surprise, instant impact moment, more than it would have been had it been the sound of glass shattering instead then Austin stomping and snarling all the way down the ramp to the ring before getting involved.

    Just fucking brilliant!

You forgot all about the excellent* Jericho stuff.

Also, once again, I must state my dislike of Mone's 'CEO' chant.

    *Not excellent

Likewise. Her theme music is rubbish and the “CEO” just doesn’t go with it.

Just remembered a pre-season prediction by non other than Auld - crystal ball - Heid that it was a given the Rose would take 6 points of the BU’s.  Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

He genuinely needs to seek help. Football makes him not well.

Also, not a single comment on the Lithgy thread yesterday or most of the past week. They’ve deserted their team already 😂

A bit much that. They’re young boys who tried to get into the football to watch their local team. Assuming they did something wrong not to get into the game but we were all young and stupid once right?

Hey sir! Just for the avoidance of doubt...

    * They weren't Rose fans and haven't been to a game all season - they were there to cause bother, hence the balaclavas

    * They refused to pay to get into the game after trying to get in for free - while it is free entry for u16s, they must be with a paying adult

    * Having been refused entry to the ground (for free), they hung about for nearly two hours outside to try and fight with people leaving the ground at the end of the game

I don't speak for the club but clowns like that shouldn't be made welcome. I thought the Bo'ness fans were a credit to their club yesterday and helped to create a great atmosphere, something this league desperately needs at more games.

    Spot on.

I’m honestly not. I’ve read your post this year and I’m not sure you guys really like the style though it is effective.

It’s sore on the eyes but it works. Like us under Baikie. You are better than that and you know it!

Well I can assure you that’s not how BU have played all year, but the “punt and run” tactic somewhat did the job yesterday. Horses for courses etc…

I’ve taken my kids to 10+ games this season and I’d rather they can play and support freely than listen to these blackened fannies.

    Fucking nonsense this ultra stuff.

Totally agree with this. I mean I’m all for having “ultras” in the sense of adding a bit of atmosphere at games, the Ultras 1876 have been fantastic at the Falkirk stadium this year for example. However, the type that turned up “representing” Linlithgow yesterday all blacked out with their faces covered up are the utter dregs - Nothing but thick moronic halfwits, shitebags and cowards.

Yet we had no problem letting Beggars supporters leave / return at half time with drink and threaten stewards.

Sad day when we are turning away our own supporters - what do they say about not judging a book by its cover?

Haha. You are fishing hard here.

What we are is probably the best of the teams outside the top 6.

EK the best, the next 5 physical then us.

if we get a team playing football we’ll be more than a match to punt and run but it’ll take time. I just hope we don’t resort to that style of play to try compete.

And you’re fishing hard with the “physical” and “punt and run” stuff.
