Anyone else think that Tony Schiavone looked a bit ill and gaunt when he was in the ring with Jack Perry the other night?

I got a bit of a shock when I saw him. He didn't look well at all. Hopefully he's OK.

Actually thought this a couple of weeks ago but his demeanour seemed typical so I just put it down to him making an effort to lose weight.

Agree that the attendance was poor.

We will all have opinions on why the BU support has dwindled.    I would say that the main reason was the style of Fitbaw Max and Little were playing was pass pass pass........ with very few chances created.  It was dull, dull dull,

If Big Hunter's team keep creating lots of chances, keep scoring goals and he can make Newtown Park a fortress the numbers will rise.

Yes it would be good to see the old fans back ...........but it would be even better if the club could also attract new fans to the matches.

Re the crowd, I dunno where some of you guys stand but that’s as good a crowd as there’s been in quite a while.

You also have to factor in:

    > It’s July - with Covid now little more than a minor inconvenience, stacks of folk are away holidays abroad again.

    > Gala brought very few fans.

    > Sad-act glory hunters who’d rather go watch the other team now since they could beat Armadale and some amateur sides to win their league.

Can only assume talking about the recent Forbidden Door build.

Just seeing the reply to my post cos you’ve quoted it but yeah pretty much the influx from NJPW. In the last few months AEW have had a few intermittent appearances from the likes of Suzuki and Ishii who for me are no more entertaining than a lot of folk on AEWs already bloated roster.

I don’t get what’s so great about Takeshita and Kota either. Personally I just see them as money makers (which obviously is the point) without really adding anything to the overall AEW product.

I don't get the hype behind Ibushi and never have TBH.

He's just another Japanese guy who wrestles blow up dolls.

I’m not getting what any of the recent influx of Japanese guys are bringing to the table.

Bizarre how they have now made a U turn. They must have expected the backlash, if not then they should be nowhere near running a club. Maybe just chanced it hoping for minimal coverage?

Bizarre they opted to sign him in the first place. Think the chairman hoped to brass neck it as there is no way he didn’t see the the negative reaction coming especially given the mass outrage last summer 15 minutes along the road with Penicuik/Whitehill and Paul Tansey.

Very sad news. He always seemed to face up to his situation with a positive attitude, when it would have been understandable if he was bitter and angry about the accident.

Dunno if we’ll ever know how D’Lo truly feels but I know Droz’s situation would’ve consumed me something awful to the point I’d immediately never want to wrestle again, but Droz was always an absolute class act and forthcoming in not bearing a grudge or portioning any blame on D’Lo.

  7. Guns N Roses were absolutely outstanding from start to finish last night. If you buy into any of the criticism of Axl Rose’s voice based on having watched Glastonbury on the telly or read some less than complimentary tweets, then you’re a fucking balloon.

  8. Some recent thoughts and observations:

    • Satnam Singh surely has to stop being utterly utterly pointless sometime.

    • Taya Valkyrie is absolutely dreadful.

    • Isiah Kassidy needs to stop the weird sex noises.

    • Blackpool Combat Club are getting boring.

    • Eddie Kingston’s the character is great but his brief performance looked terrible.

    • Agree with MJF’s remarks about Adam Cole’s body. He now looks like a regular guy they just plucked out the crowd.

Only been to a few Athletic gam when BU's have not been playing.  There is a small number of older fans who I have seen at BU games in the past who now follow Athletic.  A bigger worry for me is the number of youngsters 12 to 20 who turn up......that should be the BU's future fan base

    This makes me absolutely cringe.

Back in 2015 a guy re-recorded the full album by himself (apart from the vocals which are a different guy), used more conventional production and shortened it by a total of 15 mins.

    It's REALLY good.

They’ve intermittently had the odd St Anger song or two feature in their live sets over the years. St Anger and Frantic in particular are fucking dynamite live minus the tin can drums, and I think that’s gone some way to softening the overall dislike of the album.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I've always felt that Metallica could use an editor, even in the classic days.

Just absolute masters of guitar riffs and dynamics, James Hetfield's a great frontman and vocalist, Kirk Hammett's leads usually work really well, and Lars is...well, also there. But I could never really get into them because I'm usually bored by the end of a lot of their songs, and I can never make it through a whole album.

I'd suggest the biggest difference between them and Megadeth was that Mustaine was a stronger songwriter.

How do you figure that? Metallica have always been the far bigger, more popular of the two bands, even prior to the Black album and Metallica’s commercial success.

I would say Mustaine is a way faster and more technically gifted guitar player, but stronger songwriter? Nah.

I am not on the committee so have no knowledge of the financial arrangements.   ........but this is P&B where rumours and gossip are put forward as FACTS.

Max not taking a wage from the BU and financing the pay for 3 players wages was the story I heard from a few sources .

Here is an actual truth that affects the budget- the BU support home and away has dropped by 50% since pre Covid days. Results, performance and style of play combined with "the Athletic factor" have caused a drop.

The BU's need a big support and big results to get a top 6 finish.

I am confident that big Hunter is the man for the job.

By this do you mean you are aware of folk who no longer follow BU to go follow them?

I think so, but I'm a bit of a Walking Dead geek. I watched every episode of TWD, every episode so far of Fear, and every episode of World Beyond. I also have some of the graphic novels.

I have to admit though season 7 dragged on a bit but a great character returns at the end of season 7, season 8 is better so far.

Cheers. I was thinking of players.

It was announced as one year to begin with and neither side have commented as to whether it was extended or expired. (at least not that I've seen).

Sensible appointment. Club legend and knows the place inside out. Would imagine Stuart being named the new gaffer will be met with the approval of 99% of BU fans. Fingers crossed we can find a wee pot of gold somewhere too to help the big fella with the rebuild.

Everyone's favourite miserable c**t back to lead his very own show with zero real punishment for his transgressions.  Top work.

Very interesting reaction too.  Big pop and a lot of people clearly happy, but brief shots of people very much the opposite that were quickly cut away from.  Guy needs to come back as a proper heel, otherwise I can see it all going sour very, very quickly.

Plenty videos of the true crowd reactions on Twitter. Perfect 50/50 of boos and cheers.

Punk is dogshit and boring to watch. They don’t need him in the grand scheme of things and TK is more than rich enough to have paid him off. However, still a fair amount of Wembley tickets needing shifted so that’ll certainly help.
