Ordered on your say-so, with a Templeton Rye into the bargain since iv been looking to sample a rye for ages and never got round to it.

Coincidentally I just finished my bottle of Bulleit Rye tonight along with a Wild Turkey 101 and a Tomatin 14 Port Cask. There was only a dram left in each and as I'm moving soon I can't take my collection with me.

A rye whisky is a pleasurable experience although have always meant to try Templeton since it seeing it mentioned in Harry Bosch books but never got round to it. I'll look forward to a review please.

Big win for Girvan wednesday night dragging themselves out the relegation zone. Gow on remarkable run of form, midweekers always throw up a few suprises im sure there will be plenty twists and turns yet. Big game for Bellshill they desperately need to bounce back tomorrow against a good Dalry side.

Aye that's true actually and it happens at all levels. Wonder why that is.

    A couple of points.

    1. Clubs should be told that there is 2 rounds of midweek fixtures to start the season to assist with planning at the end of the season

    2. Why are we playing the WOS Cup final this weekend. You know that you have a date to finish the league so why not wait until after then.

    3. As much as the 2 legged semi finals brought crowds and attention it cannot be allowed to happen again with the impact on the fixtures.

    4. There is also an impact at the bottom with the (unlikely) scenario that Glens might not be completely safe and know what they need to do.

    Great post that.

    Jawbone by Mònica Ojeda.

Superb. Lyrical and poetic and genuinely chilling and haunting. A fantastic translation ad well, which really seemed to capture the spirit.

Do you read more than one book at the same time or did this one take you 10 hours to read?

But is it that obvious ? They're extending the season anyway and the Junior Cup is a big factor anyway.

What is obvious is that it's not a reasonable situation and something will have to change.

You say something often enough snd even I will crack.

The Junior Cup has had too much respect this year in particular the two legged semi but it's not the only factor. There will always be an imparity in league games played at the latter stages of any season. Chelsea are seeing that in the EPL. The argument should not be about cup competitions it should be about scheduling league matches midweek at times when the weather is good. Especially that the league is in the west of Scotland, an area hardly known for it's balmy climate.

The season extension is a necessary evil but the other clubs shouldn't allow Darvel to have matches after everyone is finished. The last day fixtures must be changed en masse. Kennie will do that, you'll see.

I don’t know why, but right now I’m fancying black pudding cooked in butter and Worcestershire sauce on Stephens the bakers well fired rolls.
I'm stopping at the shop on the way home this afternoon, hope there’s still some well fired rolls available.

    That's nice.

Oh change the bloody record. Darvel have a chance to win the title. The league play offs start on 18th May. All the games are ( were ) scheduled to finish on 11th for a reason - so no club gers an advantage by knowing what they need to do and to have a Champion declared in good time for play off. The number of games Talbot and Darvel are already cramming in is regressive. This has got he haw to do with Clydebank as we'll be out race by then.

Haha. Everything you have said is obvious as was the dig at Clydebank. Good that you saw it for what it was though and haven't taken it too seriously 👍

This only goes to show that sporting integrity matters not by the fixture secretary.

How can a team still involved in the title race be allowed to play two fixtures after the rest of the league is completed on the 11th of May and potentially knowing exactly what they require from the games, never mind it also could still impact the relegation outcomes depending on what Glenafton would still require to be safe.

As already put to the FS if this is the only option due to lack of suitable dates to fit these games in before the 11th then the only fair option would be to push the last games for every team back in line with Darvels.

That's a great point actually. Surely that will happen.

The cup competition that’s caused the backlog is optional yet everyone has to suffer.

It’s an absolute shambles and you can’t hide from that.Making glib remarks about Clydebank doesn’t change the fact that it’s all wrong.

Disagree. Although the two legged semi has had an impact and needs binned, it's the lack of midweek games earlier in the season that causes this. Having said that, Darvel's poor playing surface caused call offs and I also think the clubs prefer not to have midweek games as Saturday revenue is always more attractive. Reckon @Kennie needs to be stronger next season by pointing to this carry on and just get the games in.

However having said all that one still feels making glib remarks about Clydebank should always be the go to posting method.

All this talk about Gartcairn; and I remember when this particular cage was first built, and the use of cages is totally correct.

Cages are not and were never intended for a paying public to utilise. If you look at them all, there is only one side for spectators and that was the intention. They are for community use by youth clubs, ammies and for training. The fencing would need to be removed and a proper perimeter installed for them to be fit fir any purpose.

But problem now is; the horse is long gone from the yard on this issue.

Note: I am solely talking about the cages, not synthetic pitches which have their part to play in modern football.

As a slight caveat, if folk are honest there are ground across non-league that we visit that are falling down around us. Are they fit for purpose or do we just ignore the problems because of some nostalgic influence.

On top of that some of the grass pitches are also not fit for the league.

I know there is no easy fix for these clubs, but moving forward the situation is only going to get worse.

Do clubs need a safety certificate from the council or is that only for licensed clubs?

n.b. not naming any clubs whose grounds and pitches I'm talking about, it's more of a general observation.

Fair enough but what's the solution? If these grounds, in particular the older ones, are deemed unfit for purpose and the clubs don't have the means to upgrade, do they go to the wall or approach another club for a ground share? It would be great to think that there could be some funding available from government either local or national but that's about as likely to happen as @PossilYM moving to Ayrshire.
