I never seen any of them being put out, Darvel committee etc...really have to take control of the situation, there is no way they never heard it, I was at the complete opposite end from them, they were up the banking behind the goals I was behind the goals towards the beer garden area, if I heard it and more than once, club officials who were there in team jackets etc...heard it. It seemed directed at Talbot's right back Tarek Abed.

It was very uncomfortable to listen to.

The only way to sort it is to get them out, team handed if need be. Can't understand people clutching their pearls but doing nothing else.

Attended tonights games, with the better weather coming in the playing surface is somehow getting worse.

I know Darvel like a statement, one statement that does need to be put out is one regarding the racist abuse shouted by their young fans over their handheld megaphone, I was at the opposite goals and could hear it clearly, the gasps of all supporters both Darvel and Talbot showed that everyone in the ground clearly heard it. I was disgusted by it, no place for it in any society.

Talbot never seemed out of second gear, unsure the Darvel player thoughts on management situation however a lot of frustrated players looking at them. Yes one or two younger players however a strong starting 11.

And did any of you gaspers call them out for it or did you settle for making a mental note to post here about it instead?

Even if you want to put to one side the idea that teams don't want promotion.

Why would they be dipping out of the Scottish Cup participation and SFA revenue sharing that comes with licensing? Beith are working on it. As are others. Its not really about just making noises. There's a need to keep up with those around them. Its the SFA that are the main stumbling block as per usual.

Agreed. Although it could be argued that Beith currently find themselves in the position that Talbot were in in the Junior leagues. Keep winning the league and you get Scottish Cup entry anyway. They won't be thinking like this though.

I might be doing Beith a massive disservice here but they don't give the impression of a team who are all that bothered. It's not like their ground is up to scratch right now and the stuff about ground ownership was all a bit keystone cops.

You could be right but they seem to make the right noises at the right times. Regardless of this, they are the champions so it's up to all the other ambitious clubs to race for the golden ticket.

It's frustrating that we've seen no change whatsoever at top in 3 years. Darvel at least had chance in year 1. Last season, when it became clear we couldn't,  I was rooting for Talbot or Darvel to win league. Same this year. Not because I favour them more than Beith - but because I want the pyramid to start kicking in and West teams to progress. If a licenced team wins next year then I'll still feel that rule should be changed - because its as likely - if not more - that Johnstone Burgh will at some point soon ... or St Cadocs ... or Gartcairn. Providing there's no change in status of these clubs then we're back at square 1.

I hope they open up for licences again as that would make the current situation less likely, but it's a real possibility it will be 3 in a row.

To play into the hands of @judge macbrayne and @Vanderbilt, a caveat to everything I have said is that lots of clubs/fans quite enjoy the competitive, reasonably local nature of the WoSFL so it's not disastrous not to get promoted. However that shouldn't be confused with lack of ambition and the ludicrous notion that they are not trying to win the league or would deliberately throw the resulting play off, before the above mentioned start.

There's a difference between accepting those are current rules and wanting them changed. If the rules were that league could nominate the highest licenced club ( whatever derogatory term you wished to pin on that ) then I'm sure Talbot or whoever would be going all out to clinch that. If not us then I'd wish that club very best of luck in the play off.

The point is why should they be changed. It seems like the true inhibitor for WoSFL teams progressing is the closure of submissions for licensing. If they were open then Beith would be going all out for that. Until such times, the route is crystal clear. Win the league and the gate suddenly opens...until you reach the next gate that is.

Explain that one ? Well yes of course I'm talking about Talbot - I.e. your team, you. Given you're ( Talbot ) historically the stronger team and likelier ( incl this season ) to finish higher up the league. This is our 10th season competing in same league - including Covid season. You've finished above us every season except perhaps this one. Given that this is not going to be brought in for this end season, then its very obviously not about us.

Ok, thanks for the explanation but I disagree. Most Talbot fans AFAIK accept the fact that if they don't win the league they won't have a chance to go up. What I'm saying is that the majority of Clydebank fans on here and in fact the majority of posters who are in favour of a highest placed loser idea are Clydebank fans.

  8. 1 hour ago, judge macbrayne said:

So what you are saying is we are the only team in this league who wants to up .Rather than stay stagnant. eh???

No, as well you know. I'm saying that the overwhelming majority of people here who are advocating the highest placed loser (note the word loser) should be allowed an opportunity to progress. But then you knew that.

  9. The Serie B twists continue as Venezia bag a late winner and Como could only manage a bore draw at Modena to keep the second promotion spot in the balance. The last round of matches are this Friday evening with Como just needing to beat Cosenza at home to go up. However, if they draw and Venezia win at La Spezia, then it's the Venetians who take the place.

If anyone is interested you can get the Como match live online by signing up for free at https://tv.comofootball.co./home

It's basically Mola TV and it's worth watching if only for the Alan Partridge-esque presenter/commentator. Interestingly, Martin O'Neill has the full time gig as pundit for Como.

We're in our 3rd full season now. 2022 Darvel and were licenced- fine ( we were 4th ). 2023 Beith unlicensed- Talbot finished 2nd and we were 4th. This season - Beith unlicensed and we'll be 2nd or 3rd probably - Talbot favourite to finish 2nd. So this isn't about us. In all liklihood we won't be the highest licenced side. It won't be in place for this play off even with fair wind. Good chance an unlicensed team may win next year. With calibre of teams a top 6 finish will be decent. This isn't about us. It's about some shift upwards in West. There's no good reason not to ... as so far it's mainly been that East teams might no like it as they'd much prefer to be playing Champions. I mean ... come on

Aye there is. If you're not good enough to win your league you are not good enough to be given any further opportunity to be promoted. You can quote figures about how it's not about Clydebank all you want but for you and the other Clydebank fans it is clearly about Clydebank and your frustration about not being able to win the league and thereafter climb the ladder. Your team will get up in time but for now stop trying to gerrymander a route for yourselves.

Revolt at Darvel. Tony mac and John Gall were arguing at the side of the park. Gall went into changing room after the game and said Tony and his backroom team are sacked with immediate effect. The players are threatening not to turn up to the Talbot game on monday

    Comedy gold.

    When's Gall leaving?

Highest weekly score so far is dagane – 37  (Week 14)

It's supposed to be silly season for the results in matches so we can blame a low scoring week on that. However, @coolerking83 bucked that trend with a healthy 21 points  with @Shannon notching up 19 and @coineanach and @Dean Learner bagging 18 each, which sees the latter climb to second place. That was also due to some very ill timed forgetfulness. I never like to point at posters for doing this as we've all done it but it means that, although technically possible, it would take a highly improbable last week of scoring to topple @dagane from the top spot. It looks like the battle is really for the remaining podium spots. Let's make sure we all put in a set of predictions and see what transpires. Check your scores please.

Fixtures for Saturday 11th May are;-

    Arthurlie v Beith Juniors

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy v Largs Thistle

    Neilston v Thorniewood United

    Craigmark Burntonians v Bonnyton Thistle

    Kello Rovers v Lesmahagow Juniors

    Lugar Boswell Thistle v Glenvale

There they are in all their glory. The final round of fixtures. Good luck everyone!

  13. Why can't people realise that on public transport, if you eat a meal you are affecting others either by noise or smell.

Was on a flight the other day and the lad next to me brought a silver takeaway tray on with him, asked the stewardess for a fork, opened it and ate what proved to be a chinese rice thing that he had obviously prepared at home. He had just sat in the airport for at least an hour probably but decided to open and eat it on a cramped space on what was a 1 hour 5 minute flight!

The leagues did take on two midweeks at the start of the season. It could maybe be increased a bit. I know more so from the Premier point of view, clubs with home games and floodlights having clearing out a backlog of postponed fixtures many of which were originally for 2023. Those could have been scheduled earlier.

Yes, but the Premier league is the more important league in terms of having a fixed deadline so they are the ones who should have played more matches. After all, there were midweek games put in during November when it was becoming clear that this situation was going to happen. The problem was that the frosty nights had set in by that point.
