  1. Yes but its not as big a gap as it used to be especially with ict, rc and hamilton up there and its not currently the be all and end all either with the improved cash split and likes of hibs hearts rangers and probably du next season playing in it.We'll get there eventually but i wont be gutted if we lose out to the likes of rangers and hibs.
  2. We own all the football related areas the council own the rest as far as i know. We should be starting to make a decent killing on the pitch hire front soon now that we've decided to pay it all off. Our superior season ticket numbers and receng seasons large profits should have us pretty even with st johnstone on the income front id hope.
  3. Of course if hes offered more cash he'll go. He'd need to be crazy not too at this stage of his career. We've lost a bundle of players to other clubs over the past few years because we havent been able to compete on wages due to our financial position. We're in a far better place now although at the end of the day theres a lot of clubs out there we'll never be able to compete with on the wages front. Im talking about when the wages offered are the same though and surely these days we should be able to match wages of the likes of hamilton, st johnstone etc.
  4. Surely though part of the appeal to move up the ladder as a pro footballer is to be able to play in front of the biggest crowd possible? No? If theres no increase in wages and the standard of football is much the same then i would rather ply my trade in front of 4000 fans a week than 2000. To me the step up from falkirk to st johnstone is minimal unless they are able to offer a far higher wage. In our current financial state though i would like to think that we would be able to compete with some of the smaller top flight clubs.
  5. The question was would i rather see us not go up even if we won the league. I answered saying that the appeal of he top league wasnt what it used to be. One of the reasons for that was that the away crowds for many games were no bigger than those in this division. Im sorry that i prefer watching games with a healthy away support at them which adds to the atmosphere but thats just my opinion. Nothing to do with any our crowds bigger than yours pish.
  6. Different for hibs obviously. They should really be top 6 in the premier every season fighting it out with hearts, aberdeen, sevco for whose going to be runner up to celtic. Wouldnt be fair if i expected us to beat hibs and sevco to a promotion spot this season.
  7. You asked my opinion. I remember when the premier was the league to really be in. Big crowds every week and good football on show. There was a huge gap between the top flight and the first back then in the mid to late 80s. Now football wise theres not that much difference and neither is there crowd wise. Ict rc hamilton are all well run teams and thats why their in the top flight whilst teams like ourselves, ayr, st mirren, sevco, hibs and morton are stuck in the championship. However, at present whilst getting promotion would be great im not going to be devestated if we're still down here for another season
  8. The only reason id like to see us get up would be the slight rise in cash you get and the increased sponsorship cash you tend to get due to the more tv exposure. Makes the club more viable to run on a long term basis. Otherwise im pretty non plussed about getting the two men and a dug visiting from ict,rc, hamilton etc on a regular basis aswell as having to pay more every week for a standard of football that aint that much better.
  9. The top flight isnt what it used to be now that its full of sides like hamilton, ross county and ict. The championship with hibs and sevco in it is just as competitive and we've been to two scottish cup finals, numerous semis and had european football in recent times. If I was him i'd be trying to get a move down south where the real money is but if hes desperate to play at the likes of new douglas park or the global energy stadium then so be it.
  10. I'd hope that with our current financial situation being very good that we could at least compete with some of the smaller sides in the top flight. If Alston was to move on I'd like to think he'd be moving on to a real step up and not to sides playing in front of crowds nearly half what we're getting.
  11. We have the same issue with Sibbald that we have with Alston in my mind. Neither are really utilised in their best positions so we never really get the best out of either of them . To often Sibbald gets the ball wide left on the half way line surrounded by two or three opposition players. He's really an ideal no 10 playing in the hole just behind a striker. At the edge of the box is where he does all his best work but we don't get him into that area on nearly enough occasions.
  12. Great finisher but not really a right sided midfielder. Far better through the middle but we've got a pile of options there unfortunately for him.
  13. Loy said openly that he had loved his time at Falkirk and would've stayed but we couldnt get anywhere near the amount of cash that Dundee were offering. At this point in his career he just couldn't turn that amount of cash down.
  14. I'd expect someone from the top flight will pick him up for next to nothing when his contract runs out. Seems to be doing well but would be too much of a gamble for us to pay what Dunfermline would want at the moment if we could even afford that. Austin was a nominal fee so we won't be losing much if he ends up to be not up to the job.
  15. If hes not thick then he obviously he aint near signing for us. Whether you care what people think or not you'd be nuts to tweet something like that having signed for the other team. I doubt we're anywhere near signing him at the moment..
  16. I can only presume that nothing has been done regarding Brett at the moment or he wouldn't be commenting like that on twitter about a side hes about to join. Hibs fan or not surely no one is that stupid?
  17. One of the worst pen takers i remember in a falkirk shirt was God himself. Brilliant player but awful pen taker. Best i can remember was gunner mcwilliams closely followed by tam mcqueen.
  18. Aye hes really setting the heather on fire with united this season!!
  19. Oharas obviously younger and better or we'd be keeping austin and putting ohara out on loan.
  20. Dont see the point of loaning him back to play in the bottom division to be honest. I'd rather see him bedded in with the team and getting a bit of experience at this level. What happens if we managed to get promotion? Hes then going from league two to the premiership in one go.
  21. The number of games hes now able to play per season would say that his injuries have now caught up with him and hes unable to play week in week out at a decent level. ie he's done.
  22. He's been made of chocolate since he left Hibs. He's also a red card wating to happen. Mind him getting wound up by our midfield every time we played hibs when he was there and him constantly losing the plot.
  23. To be honest I'm more disappointed that Loy doesn't seem to be getting a game for Dundee as to me hes a quality player that also runs his arse off for you for 90 mins. Unfortunately he seems to have become very injury prone since he picked up a bad one at Queens in the cup last season. Baird and Kerr both have their limitations but in the championship you need guys that have been over the course before. And the quality this season is far better than it was when Dundee scraped over the line a couple of years back. That team would be mid table in this years competition at best.
  24. I would think hes chosen us over Dundee as we have a proven track record of giving young players a chance in the first team. Looking at the current Dundee side how many first team regulars have come through their youth ranks? Kerr gets a game here and there but that's about it.
  25. If Bowman isn't seen as good enough to play second fiddle then surely we should be punting him instead of sending him out on loan.
