  1. Daily Record states that Falkirk don't expect anyone coming or going today. I'd still like to see a couple of players coming in sooner rather than later though. We've got the basis for a good side and could have a right good season with a couple of decent additions.

  2. Turned down Hibs according to the Sun

Good. Yeah Shankland looks a good prospect. You'd think we could've enquired regarding him when doing the Rogers deal.

If indeed Preston was a target its a pretty poor show that we cant even compete with Ayr United for players.

  3. The one I was told about has signed elsewhere

I see that john daly has knocked back a more lucrative deal from a rival to sign for Raith. I hope to feck that wasnt us. Not only would it be another slap in the face surely after miller signing we dont need another big lump up front. Maybe it was st mirren, qos or hibs .

  4. He showed in the games against Alloa last season that there is a player in there.

Would like to at least see him given a chance this season. Like Smith, I think he will be much improved since he joined us a year ago

Same old pish from Smith today im afraid. Runs about a lot but no end product.

  5. Celtic just drew with Kilmarnock in Kilmarnock, the full board and management team should be sacked imo

Their probably would be calls for their heads if their tactics for the entire 90 mins had been for their two fullbacks to lump the ball up the park and hope something happens. Celtic pummelled Killie for the majority of the match we in no way pummelled Morton.

  6. As far as I'm aware Killie don't have any debt any more. Guy called Billie Bowie did a deal with the outgoing chairman which cleared it for them. The objective for this season should be to put an entertaining side on the park which will fight it out for third spot and comfortably get into the playoffs. Anything better is a bonus anything less is simply not good enough.

  7. I'm struggling to work out what type of striker Houston's actually after. Clarkson, Heffernan and Miller are all very different styles of player and yet it would seem he's looked at all three of them. Hopefully it means he only sees Miller as one of a pair of strikers he's going to sign as we will still badly need a goal scorer to replace Farid, Taylor, Loys goals over the past few seasons.

  8. If the BoD and the manager have written this season off then why don't the fans do the same and keep their hard earned in their pockets?

Well we've certainly written this season off if we've resorted to looking at players like Lee Miller. I mean come on Livingston rejected him for gods sake. I hope to feck he's better than he was in his last under 20's game at Westfield. He was absolutely awful for Killie there last season. Worst player on the park. I just cant believe that this is the best option Houston can come up with having known since Feb we were needing a striker.

  9. If its Lee Miller then it looks like we're now in the realms of panic signings with Houston. Anyone will do basically. I mean lets face it what are you going to get out of seeing a past it striker playing in the under 20's team? Worrying thing is that going by Morgan and Boulding he won't have to do a lot to get a deal.

  10. I don't think anyones expecting 18000 to turn up at the game this Saturday but it also wouldn't be unrealistic to expect a few people to have enjoyed the overall experience enough to fancy coming along on a more regular basis or for a few of the lapsed attenders to think about returning back to the fold. However, these folk won't hang about long if the product on show isn't at least somewhat entertaining. Even if its just a few hundred its an opportunity missed.

  11. So its simply a case of we cant compete with sevco so no point in improving the side so that we can put a bit of entertainment on show for the fans who have again dipped into their pockets to buy season tickets this year then. Not only will we have missed the boat with anyone encouraged to perhaps come along after the cup final but we also risk finally frightening off the current core support. I agree with BPM we're not Wanting the club to break the bank but just a bit of investment in the squad to put out a team we can be proud of that plays some decent football.

  12. So since you've come down you've comfortably finished in the top half of the table, finishing a low of 5th only once and you've been involved in promotion play-offs in that time. I'm sure the collective hearts of the likes of Montrose, Elgin and Albion Rovers are bleeding for you. I understand your expectations are bit higher than them but to say you've been suffering is a massive overstatement.

You're also now saying you don't expect promotion, which goes against everything you're arguing in the first paragraph.

Whilst in previous years it wasnt exactly ridiculous to expect us to make a real push for promotion now due to hibs and sevco being in the championship only the foolhardy would expect us to pip both of them to a place in the top flight. However, fighting it out with st mirren for 3rd shouldnt be seen as outwith the bounds of expectations this season. I dont see that as asking too much.

  13. I know what you mean mate and to be honest some of our younger fans probably see it differently from me. They weren't there when we were going through provisional liquidation in the late 90's and the stadium issues that prevented us getting promotion for a number of years after that. Even when your going well someone always seems to make an arse of it. I'm not really asking for us to overachieve I'm just asking that we make the most of what we have. Queens are doing that just now and more on what would be seen as a tight budget but with a good young manager and sensible board.

  14. More often than not in promotion playoffs. I wish. Our first season down we ended up 12 points behind Dunfermline in 3rd place even though we had the biggest budget in the league. The next season we again came 3rd 17 points behind Ross County. The following season we were even further away from promotuion being 25 points behind Partick Thistle in 3rd again. A partick team that was hardly breaking the bank. In 2013/14 we were at least in the running only 3 pts off Dundee and beaten by Hamiton in the playoffs whilst last season our league form was pretty poor and we ended up 5th 38 points behind hearts and 7 points off 4th place. So one year since we came down we have been involved in the promotion hunt which I would say is pretty poor for a club with our attendances and facilities.

If the club had been run properly we wouldn't have created the said debts in the first place having been comfortable in the top flight for 3 seasons when we had at least broken even if not made a profit. Bad decisions by the bod meant we ended up in debt and had to pay money into paying off these debts instead of further financing the budget to build a promotion winning side and keeping hold of some of our best youngsters for a little while longer. I don't expect us to win promotion this season but I'd like to see a wee bit of entertainment and a team I can be proud of fighting it out for at least 3rd place. That shouldn't be too much to ask really considering .

  15. I'm sure most of the fans realise that competing with sevco and Hibs over a 36 game season is stretching things a bit. However, theres no reason why we shouldn't be fighting St Mirren for 3rd as well as comfortably finishing 4th. If we don't have the budget to do that then serious questions have to be asked as to where all the money is going and how its being spent. The squad we had last season couldn't make the playoffs and this years so far is no better in my opinion.
