  1. I reckon we'd have given them far more of a game than Hibs did to be honest. Lets face it Fenlon hasnt got a clue as he showed in the first half against us last season. As for Gary hay. The guys the ultimate pro but unfortunately we've already got a very good left back. Our priorities must be on signing at least one centre forward, an experienced central midfielder and a decent centre back or we'll be lucky to make the playoffs this season.

  2. He has the same problem as Flynn though which is a total inability to concentrate for 90 mins without making an arse of things. Would look comfortable on the ball one minute before gifting a goal to the opposition the next. Our defence looked far better without him when we were in the SPL.

  3. I just find it hilarious that dumbarton are so desperate to win a mickey mouse cup by having to field members of their first team in the competition. I realise its the only trophy they have a chance of winning all season buit surely they'd get more from it if it was there youth team playing in it from start to finish and being victorious. There cant be much satisfaction from winning it when your playing 5 or 6 first team player against a team with none..

  4. It doesnt upset me its just that every season Dumbarton seem to be the only team that takes this competition so seriously. Every other team plays kids apart from Dumbarton and thats why they do pretty well in it. I'm not sure what benefit your experienced players get by playing our youth team to be honest. Would be better if they limited the competition totally to under 20 year olds.

  5. What though is the point of playing experienced players in what every other club in the competition basically sees as a youth team competition? Surely it would be better if every club treated the competition the same instead of the majority seeing it as a youth competition and others like Dumbarton seeing it as a chance to give their fans something to cheer about.

  6. Lets face it it wouldnt be the stirlingshire cup without Dumbarton fielding a team half full of first teamers against a Falkirk youth team in the final. Its about time that the competition had certain rules in my mind so that either everyone takes it as seriously as Dumbarton or its a youth team competition like falkirk see it as. Otherwise whats the point.

  7. Duffy did well Swansea until they signed him or stepped up a league...maybe both.... He has in flashes done well goal ratio at others too, gotta remember he was only with us short time.

Higgy an Mcgivern off top of my head would have the only good at falkirk brush

As for Loy.... Id hoped for bigger profile, but won't judge till I see him. Football players can be funny beggars, rite club, rite position and cerain other players around them can make them world beaters....see mcgivern and Stainrod for latter and I don't think Cregg was same player after O'Donnell left..

I don't think we can read into his scoring ratio too much, don't think he's been employed as main striker too much.

I think the problem is, that we are starved of new signings and fans tend to be aye aye at anything, we shudnt be...but that's how it is

Bit unfair on Super Sam I'd say. He did pretty well at Killie and was a Scottish U21 international with them.

  8. I believe durojaiye will be a great signing for us. From the games ive seen him play his passing is good with both feet and quite like millar he takes in the short passes and spreads it wide.

Im not saying he wont be but hes a young in experienced player who will need time to develope. To aid that process you need experienced heads alongside them on the park. We basically dont have anyone in the middle that can talk these guys through a game. Thats what we badly need and were misding last season.

  9. Durojaiye could end up being murder for all we know. Just because he was on Spurs and Norwichs books means absolutely nothing . Too many peope are getting over excited about a young boy who has no first team experience whatsoever. To be honest he shouldnt even be starting this season and yet some folk are expecting him to run our midfield.. Have you ever actually watched Jay fulton play? He cant tackle for starters and avoids the physical side of things at all cost. How you think he's going to suddenly get fired into the opposition I dont know. Alston gives 100 percent every game I'll give you that and is a good box to box player. He's still better with the ball than without it. We've never replaced Mark Millar to be honest and with Murdoch away we're even lighter in the middle of the park. We'll struggle badly against the experienced midfields of raith and Dundee unless we get another body in there.

  10. Midfield is far too young. No real leaders in there and the only player with dig is a 19 year old. We paid for our lack of strength last year on a number of occasions. None more so than in the cup semi when we were crying out for a hard man to come on in the middle of the park and close things down but we had noone like that apart from Murdoch in our entire squad.

  11. I remember us looking brilliant against west ham in a one each pre season game a while ago. Was a brilliant game with loads of beefy tackles. I thought we were going to be great in the premier that season and we ended up relegated. Pre season performances unfortunately can mean hee hae.

  12. Again barrowman is utter pish. Cant believe anyone would want him playing for us next season. If he was that brilliant why did dundee not keep him on at the end of the season. I'd like to think that with holts links down south we could get a couple of players in off the radar that are a bit better than the shit quoted on here.

  13. The issue isnt just about replacing taylor though. With him we were third and a country mile nehond Partick. We cant just sign another striker on the cheap and expect everything to be briliant. Back in the good old days we'd sell a player and replace him with 2 or 3 and we need to get back into that way of things.

  14. The final conclusion is that we're constantly replacing experienced players with kids who may or may not make it in the game. That for the second biggest club in the league aint good enough in my mind. The spine of your team should be your 3 most experienced players not a 19 year old brought in from norwich with no experience who may play a few games here or there for goodness sake.

The financial position we are in is due to to MR and his BOD and noone else. Over the last 5 seasons they have made one bad decison after another on and off the park which noew means we cant compete with clubs on half the attendances we are. Are you happy with that??

  15. Who have we lost over the summer?

    Dods - probably finished

    Murdoch - fairly big loss

Weatherston - couldn't stay fit, better players in his position

Higgins - not good enough, better players in his position

I really don't see the need for a mad scramble to sign players, we certainly haven't lost the "spine" of our team. The young players are a year older. I think we need another striker for sure, if Taylor goes we need two of them. I'd like a centre back but we've got players there (Flynn I don't rate but he's there in that position).

I'm not saying we'll win the league (we won't), but how many players did Thistle add last summer? They kept the best players in their team so there was stability and no need to bed new guys in, and their young players had a good few games under their belts. We have a fine squad size and we didn't really lose anyone of any importance besides Murdoch, who's been replace by Durojaiye.

Dureoyaiye is 19 for fecks sake and has hardly played a first team game in his nelly puff and yet he's replacing the most esperienced player we have in the middle of the park. Its far too much to expect him to start running our midfield at that age. You dont rate flynn but hes a centre half so thats ok. Come on surely we should expect a but more than well we've got players there. We're the second biggest club in this league and yet we'll be lucky to come midtable at this rate. Thistle signed Murray, Forbes, Muirhead, Lawless for starters last Summer and thats just off the top of my head. So thats at least 3 more then we've signed so far.

  16. I notice again his comments that he's skint. Quite embarrasing for a club our size but the bod obviously have no shame. The likes of Raith have been able to sign a number of decent experienced players on attendances close to half ours. Can only assume that the concerts have proven to be the hopeless case the majority saw them as.
