  1. The chances of all 6 of these guys becoming first team regulars this season though is slim and I think its pretty obvious that some are simply being brought through as cheap squad fillers. Our only external signing is also a 19 year old with none or very little first team experience. Again its unfair to expect him to run our midfield at that age. Its a shame that having again backed the club by buying over 1700 season tickets the fans are again being let down by MR and the rest of our bod.

  2. We need a decent centrehalf an experienced head in the middle of the park and another striker whose at least played a few seasons of pro football before we'll get anywhere near competing with the likes of dundee. As i said we were a country mile behind partick last season and dundee will be at least as good as them if not better this year. If you dont think we need new signings then im very surprised. The fact that we could be starting the season with one experienced striker is a huge gamble . If taylor got crocked we'd be in big trouble.

  3. Holt says in the herald today that there won't be any trialists at training on friday which is a bit of a surprise to be honest. Whilst its early days lets not forget that last season we ended up 14 points behind Morton and a massive 25 behind Partick Thistle. Now I'd expect Dundee to be a side on par with partick this season so its a lot of ground to make up and we're not going to do that with the squad we have currently. We need at least 3 or 4 signings to get us challenging for the title if not more. Yes this season we'll have the bonus of playoffs but I hope we wont get into the way of seeing 2nd,3rd or 4th and defeat in the playoffs as a great season.

  4. Surely theres got to be a balance between paying off debt and being able to put out a team capable of winning the league. In my opinion if we dont put up a very good challenge for the title this season then it will be the last straw for a number of fans and we'll be seeing crowds on their way down to well below 2000. Selling him whilst we're trying to sell season tickets aint going to entice people along to buy them unless other signings are made using a chunk of the cash to offset losing him.

  5. 250k rumoured to be what Boro are looking to buy lyle for. Would be disappointed if he went but if we got offered that upfront with some add ons would take it.

Decent sum but then is it simply going to be used to pay off debts or will a decent chunk be invested into the side so that we can challenge fro the title this season?

  6. Thank feck Holt has seen sense to get rid of crocks like Higgins and wetherston. A club with a tight budget like we have cant afford to have players like higgins sitting on their fat arses for weeks on end. If we want to win the league we need better quality in the squad if not numbers so hopefully this will be the start of it. Good to see Dale Fulton punted too. Couldnt pass, tackle or do much really and neither could flannigan. Fingers crossed McGovern will sign and we'll keep taylor. Anothe couple of decent signings then and we'll be right up there.

  7. Almost always had an element of red in the kit, according to this site: http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Falkirk/Falkirk.htm

Going by that though only 3 times between 1876 and 1991 did we actually have any red in the top and one of those was simply the badges. I've not got a problem with red socks but traditionally we don't have any red in the top itself and in my opinion it should stay that way.

  8. I've got my boring as f**k head on today, surely these two kits are far too similar to one another and will clash with a good few teams in the league? I'm thinking Morton and Raith for sure, and possibly Dundee and QoS as well? I can see us using the yellow kit from this season a few times.

They're OK, they'll possibly grow on me, but I wish we'd have more red in our kits. Falkirk's colours are navy, white and red. It's been too long since we had a primarily red away kit.

I cant ever remember red being a major part of the strip until fairly recently apart from perhaps the socks at times and I've been watching them for over 30 years. I don't know if any older fans could say whether it was traditionally part of the top. I much prefer simple blue and white with no red apart from again the socks maybe.

  9. We were a debt free club in 7th place in ghe SPL not that long ago until the current bod decided to lose the plot and throw money at hughes. Two awful managerial appointments after that are why we're now paying off soft loans. Marty and his crew gambled the future of this club and sould've lost big time if it hadnt been for acfew player sales and the odd cup run. We are where we are because of them and noone else.

  10. Our average attendance is 3,750.

Whether we've to go part time or get sent down to the 3rd Division, i'm not fussed, i just want to see us survive, yet also remain in the league set up. If we've to work our way back up then so be it.

In regards to the latest news, it's funny how the players were told that they might get another 10% of their wages after the game tomorrow, yet Masterton can suddenly find an extra 30% today when the players threaten to strike.

Sounds to me like they've got a certain amount of cash floating about and its basically being given out depending on how much of a crisis not paying a certain group will cause. Wait and see I bet some of that was meant for Cowdenbeath or Hamilton but now because the players are threatening strike action which would cause havoc its been diverted to them . The SFL may take a while to take action on the non payment of gate receipts so they may be hoping that they'll have the cash to pay both clubs off by then. Of course if our bod hadnt been so soft regarding this and reported the pars earlier then it would at least have alerted cowden and hamilton to what they were doing allowing them to put some sort of other plan in place to sell the tickets. Typical spineless Martin Ritchie move.

  11. The guys record is pretty poor so this could basically be the last chance saloon for him as a full time footballer. Perhaps Pressley is hoping that he realises that and makes a real push to get a contract for next year. He'll basically be on peanuts but yu've got to wonder if there were perhaps other options out there we could've looked at.
