  1. I think though there has to be some game time management of a guy as young as Bowie. As good as he is, and as good as he may become, he's still very young, and there's maybe an element of not wanting to burn him out at such a young age. Having options will allow us to manage that, and perhaps ensure he doesn't play every minute of every game. Particularly when Dingwall and Vaughan are back fit, you would anticipate Bowie dropping to the bench anyway, but it gives us options for injury cover and rotation. With Victoria and Smith out both for 4-8 weeks anyway, we are very short. grant Anderson as a part time player will also maybe need game time managed. Its a long season, and a bit of rotation is required.
  2. £4k a month is a fantastic amount of money on a monthly basis - and could easily fund 2-3 players at £3-£400 a week. It would be good if we could see that being used at least in part to bring in an additional player or two to really strengthen a depleted squad!
  3. There are nations already doing this, and its becoming more common. Wales had 300 fans denied entry in Hungary because the name on the ticket did not match their ID. Its something UEFA are looking at implementing further down the line.
  4. This tournament is nothing more than a pre season, so lets preserve with Mendy and allow him the 4 games to get up to pace. I don't understand the clamour for a right back - we've got Watson and McKay don't we? and Miller as cover?
  5. I'm certainly not baulking at it - its more a case of that I'm not prepared to pay loads for tickets if Scotland don't qualify - those of us that do pay thousands of pounds traveling for the qualifiers will get tickets through the official Scotland allocation.
  6. You can be successful for some and not for others, however, if you were to be successful for all Glasgow games, a game in Bilbao, and a game in London, you either have to pay for them all, or pay for none of them. You couldn't just say - I fancy 1 Glasgow, 1 London and 1 Bilbao and pick and choose. You either pay for them all or none.
  7. Pretty much where I'm at. I think I'll be fine with the points system, I have about 13 now. Depends how many tickets we get allocated I suppose. Knowing UEFA it'll be about 3000 per team. Likewise - I'm on 21 I think, and should be on 28 by end of campaign. 13 will be fine, but if you go to the rest of the qualifiers, you'll be on 17, as we only currently have 6 home games on the membership, so the next 4 will all generate points.
  8. I'm defo not applying - will get one through the points system if we do qualify - no real interest going if we don't qualify.
  9. Didn't see him doing much defending, because of the stage of the game and us being on top, but he was quick, always looking to overlap and if anything, too keen to do so. Possibly left his position exposed by pushing on so much. But I wish we'd seen him earlier. Definitely promising and as someone has already said, LB is a position we don't have a lot of cover for. apparently despite being a centre mid, Miller can play both right and left back if required
  10. thought McGlynn said in his last interview last week that he was back doing light rehab, and would be back in full training mid August?
  11. was forgetting about Smith. Dingwall and Vaughan both out but likely to be back by end of August, so depends whether we think we can cope for the first 4-6 weeks of the season using Anderson, Allan, Bowie, Smith. if you do add Knox to that, you'd have all you need.
  12. Possibly on the back of the good uptake on the PDF? Potentially he was only going on trail down south, and if he'd done well in the few weeks he's been with us..... as someone else has said, don't make an offer - don't get.
  13. 4 not enough? Vaughan, Allan, Bowie, Dingwall, and even Anderson who can cover up top.
  14. The opening statement on the memorandum of agreement spells it out clearly
  15. Under the UEFA rules and procedures for the Euros (both qualifiers and finals) each home nation have to get an allocation for supporters, and another allocation of VIP tickets - these are the ones which are normally given to players/sponsors/commercial partners.
  16. I don't think it will be massively different from the squad from the double header 12-14 of those guys are probably nailed on to be in if fit - guys that have been in pretty much every squad consistently. Marshall, Bain, Robertson, O'Donnell, McKenna, Mulgrew, McGinn, Armstrong, McTominay, McGergor, McLean, Forrest, Fraser, and probably Russell. A number of players will be back from injury like Paterson, Tierney, Griffiths, McBurnie and Christie - possibly Steven Fletcher as well. theres another 5-6 which takes you up towards 20, which doesn't actually leave much room at all for a huge amount of change. At his first squad press conference he mentioned 3 players unavailable due to weddings - John Fleck was definitely 1 of those. The Snodgrass issue needs sorted as well. To be honest - it all depends on how folk start the season. A number of players have moved on to bigger clubs as well who could get noticed if they start well - Liam Lindsay for one... Jack Harper maybe a longer shot. Would like to see Cooper brought in. I certainly think a few of the players in his first squad were probably legacy McLeish or Malky McKay picks, given he had very little time to assess his own players. I'm looking at guys like Liam Palmer and Marc McNulty to drop out. Not including any of these maybes until they actually turn round and say they want to play for us. Angus Gunn said in April he was still wanting to play for England - if he changes I'd bite your arm off, but I seriously doubt he will. Fredrick would fill a massive gap at RB - lets see what happens there.
  17. Good luck to him - hope he kicks on. 4 goals in 26 games the 2nd tier isn't exactly battering down to the door to get in the Scotland squad, but he has a much bigger opportunity now! Really hope he isn't going to be sitting on the bench every week.
  18. why don't you stick your name down as a volunteer to go in and help clean and maintain the stands, like the many others that give their time up for our club.
  19. approx. 24k in the Scotland Supporters Club at present. At present you'd need about 5 or 6 points assuming an allocation of 7 or 8,000 but I'd expect that to jump up to around 10 points. - at the moment only 6 games on the Home Points list, so all 4 will be added. You'd also have the home playoff semi final which should be popular, and then the playoff final which could be home or away..... by that point, the poorly attended friendlies v Costa Rica and Belgium will have dropped off. Away games could also change it slightly as the last 2 1 point away games (Lithuania and Slovenia) coming off and being replaced by away games which now carry 2 points. Russia won't change the points much, as we'll only take around 1,000 but Cyprus will be popular potentially for new away travellers, or those that don't travel regularly, and could be around similar numbers to San Marino - 2,500-3,000
  20. that's not a given - I believe if we qualify as well, it comes down to the toss of a coin - and we could end up with all 3 games at Hampden, with an official allocation of only 6-8,000 tickets! Scary thing is speaking to a lot of Scotland fans, many still don't realise its not a home game, and many think they'll just get tickets in the normal manner.
  21. I was going to apply for a few games, but to be honest, the prices are ridiculous, and as far as I'm concerned not worth paying if Scotland don't qualify - I'll wait and see if we qualify, and just apply through the Scotland Supporters Club for an official allocation ticket if and when they are available. Assuming they'll do it through the points system as they do for all away games.
  22. I was having a look at this the other day. Once your application comes through with the ballot results, you have to take everything you have been allocated. You can't pick and choose - its take them all or leave them all. from the FAQs Do I have to buy all the tickets that I apply for? If you are successful in the lottery, you will have to pay for all the tickets that are allocated to you – i.e. you will not be able to remove certain tickets or matches from your order. If you decide not to proceed with payment, the entire application will be cancelled.
  23. McGlynn is quoted as saying Miller is versatile, having played RB for Scotland U19s, - in his photo on the announcement on the website, he's wearing a number 2 shirt, so looks like he's going to be our right back, with McKay and Watson as potential cover. Another position where we've got a starter and a bit of cover! With such a small squad, these guys that can play 2 or 3 positions are fairly valuable when injuries start kicking in!
  24. Too many folk just want to be doom and gloom merchants, and will never see positive in anything. Others with totally unrealistic expectations as to who we can and should sign. We're a L1 club, heading into our 3rd season after being relegated. Players like Murray and Nisbet are entitled to want to challenge themselves in a higher division. As for the players we've brought in, McGlynn has went around picking some good talent from L1 level. Look at last season - Barry Smith was being slagged rotten on here for chucking decent wages at bottom of the barrel championship players - guys who never particularly did much at all last season. Wedderburn was average at best, Flanagan was murder after the first 2 months of the season, and whilst Gillespie had a few decent games, he never really kicked on and offered as much as he should have. Hendry has the potential to be a class act, and the others so far are good players for this division. Anderson, Victoria and McGurn in particular all good quality at this level, and have plenty experience. Spencer and MacDonald both young enough to kick on and impress. I imagine a defensive replacement for Murray will already have been lined up. That just leaves us a replacement for Nisbet, but remember we've got Vaughan and Dingwall both to come back, so its not as if we've nobody at all. Lets see who else is brought in over the next month or so. Plenty time before the league kicks off.
