  1. Whatever the mitigating circumstances, your team still made a choice. Maybe you need to have a word with your league for putting your team in a situation where they feel obliged to compromise their sporting integrity.
  2. Any evidence for that? Similarly, if it is the case that there was insufficient interest in the competition for it to remain commercially viable, how was that situation improved by inviting PL colt teams - an act more likely to turn supporters away.
  3. So you can empathise with the (SPFL T2 - 4, LL & HL) Scottish fans who are similarly peeved then?
  4. That depends on your viewpoint, mate. For 25 or its 29 years it was only open to teams who actually gave a toss about winning. I'm sure you'd be similarly thrilled if the FAI opened their domestic cup competition to English teams. As if Scottish supporters are consulted when the league decides to invite Scottish PL colt teams & Welsh, N. Irish & Irish teams. It's not as if it's our money that's sustained the competition since it started in 1990.
  5. Thanks for explaining why the current format needs to change in order to restore the sporting integrity of the competition. It might only be a shitey, wee, diddy cup but it's our shitey, wee, diddy cup, and we'd rather have winning it mean something.
  6. Shhh! Don't let the Falkirk fans hear this. It might confirm their worse suspicions.
  7. I was wondering why this sounded all very familiar.
  8. We saved our club, you let yours die thats the difference. Thanks for illustrating my point.
  9. That's a different question. I don't feel the same about Airdrie as I did when I was 7, they were playing a old Broomfield, Bukta made our strip and I played tig with my mates on the terracing.
  10. Same club. My dad started taking me to old Broomfield in the late 70s. He bought me a pie and bovril each match. I started taking my boy to New Broomfield a few years back. I buy him a pie and bovril each match.
  11. I love it when some smug tit turns up to sneer at the old Airdrie's demise, especially those who's sense of superiority is bolstered by their club managing to avoid a similar fate. They're the football equivalent of that Twitter arsehole who claimed there is no such thing as food poverty after making a stir fry for £5.
  12. If we play like that every game we’ll win enough . Problem is, we won’t always play like that.
  13. I thought we competed well today and, if we had lost, would have still taken consolation. Thought about commenting on the match thread but didn’t want to interrupt the Falkirk fans meltdown.
  14. Shit news about Bury yesterday. I was a nipper at the time but I seem to remember getting them in the Anglo-Scottish cup and assuming we’d win easily, only to see the exact opposite happening.

  16. The car park fee is a pointless waste of £2 when you can safely park on the streets around the ground and when the right hand turn onto Carlisle Rd is a complete b*****d anyway.
  17. No, you’re not the 1st. Some other teams also have fans who like a moan.
  18. 20+? Oooft. It’ll be nice not to be the focus of L1 ticket price moans, if only for a season.
  19. When was the last game we needed to open the other stand?
  20. We’ve all moved on. It’s all Clyde and Bohemians on our patch these days.
  21. Add to that the fact that he probably didn't give his constituency his full attention while he was busy being Chairman of Celtic. He was parachuted in to Airdrie as it was a safe seat for Labour at the time (that is no longer the case) and his Motherwell constituency was disappearing due to boundary changes. The numptie who replaced him was a worse embarrassment. In his defence, he stood up to the Scottish Labour Party (McConnell and Kerr), who were in government at the time, as they tried to railroad through the closure of the A&E dept at Monklnds. If it wasn't for him and the subsequent shift to an SNP administration at the next election, Monklands A&E would have gone.
  22. I used to rock up to St Margarets for my Sixth Year Physics and got a lot of "Rangers lost at the weekend, haha!" pish for the crime of wearing the uniform of one of the other schools in the town. It was water off my back since I couldn't give two f's about the Rangers score and I was used to seeing my team lose anyway (being an Airdrie fan is character building). Never had any real bother there though, possibly because I was reasonably well acquainted with a couple of the school hard men through mutual friends.
  23. There are plenty of Rangers and Celtic fans live in Airdrie but they can f**k off if they think they get to claim the town as theirs. We leave that type of thing to Larkhall. Coatbridge, on the other hand, is definitely a Celtic town.
